The differences between wheels are small but noticeables: inline skates have the tightest turns, the best air boosted tricks, but also the shorter manual of everything bar foot. The skateboard is a middle ground: decent turning radius, decent manual, and relatively short boost tricks with decent forward momentum. The BMX is the big beast: great rail hitbox, long manual, very quick ground boosted trick, but also very slow and relatively immobile air boosted tricks. Foot allows for pinpoint control, increased jump height, and the low slide. One thing the game doesn't tell you is that each way of moving around is necessary to unlock specific secrets/alternate paths: on foot lets you use the low slide; when on top of glass surfaces, using the inline skates' manual will cause the glass to break; the skateboard can attach itself to the small red fire hydrants and raise them up by tricking on top; and finally the BMX can open bike garages (the big doors with the bike sign in front of them) by standing on the platform in front of them long enough.

See, I felt that the whole radio story element was sorta spiritually reborn in the form of DJ Cyber. Since he was a member of the big 3 he influenced all the gangs through his music. Tryce himself states he's waiting on his next album drop. I think maybe what Team Reptile wanted to go for was for a DJ Professor K that was more active in the turf wars and instead of having a narrative dump between areas, we instead got a more active story with himself physically moving the story along. And while I enjoy the idea of it being a radio station, I guess I just don't mind the transition to it being on the internet. It just seems more natural in a modern version of JSR. Overall I think the game does just enough things to put it in a different direction. I don't think it works as strongly in many of the senses you brought up though. Those Narrative dumps in JSR slapped. Billy Browns voice work sold the whole tone of the game to anybody who picked it up. Nothing cut-scene wise really compares to them in BRC.
2mello does have a track on the OST, but the name is escaping me now. Maybe poison jam would have been too close for comfort for Sega to add it officially?
I still think its unfair to compair video games ever. I appreciate BRC for its appeal to modern gamers. Free cam is HUGE and something I wish JSRF has now that I know of the big diff. JSRF will always be valid for a replay even today because of its maps, soundtrack, characters, DJ, and the street races. BRC got everything right imo when making a successor anything Jet Set. What I hope is that BOTH games get more popularity and support.
I enjoy BRC but its difficult for it to live up to JSR. For me there were lots of layers to JSR that just aren't present in BRC, mainly around challenge and difficulty. With JSR there was the selection of Character for the level, the time limit, the spray can management and intensity of the police. There were moments in JSR where I would be getting absolutely destroyed by the police with little health remaining and seconds on the clock to finish the level, it would create these amazing moments. Whereas BRC I never have to worry about a game over screen or struggle with any combos as the game is very, almost too easy at times. Although BRC feels amazing to play and is good vibes but it is no JSR... JSR is literally one of the greatest games ever made so it is very hard to live up to that and just happy we get another game in the form of BRC which is alot of fun

It doesn't feel as dense as jsrf the levels feel more like Tony hawk's 1-2 where you have a cool map to skate in but that's then painted in texture that matches what the level is supposed to be
The mall is the best example of this who builds a mall this big then doesn't pack it with shops or people
The lack of a narrator to tell the story externally from the cast of characters is the biggest missed opportunity rather than Pirate Radio just update it to unlisted live streaming every one has phones with internet juice
I would have been cool to be skating then see all the NPCs pick up phones at once and start starring at them

Banger of a video!!
Thank you!!
This was a very fair review 👏
5:19 that get me thinking. has anyone modded the song "poison jam" by 2 mello int the game?
2mello does have a track on the OST, but the name is escaping me now. Maybe poison jam would have been too close for comfort for Sega to add it officially?
please lean into your grinds
I can not wait until Sept 1st to play on Xbox. I unfortunately had to sell my PC a few months back so I missed thay
I hope you enjoy! It’s worth the wait!
Any wheels can manual, skateboarding doesn’t have any Manuel related benefit. It’s just called different stuff when ur skating
This game looks awesome and fun like JSRF but I really want a physical copy for the Nintendo Switch before I buy it. 😁🎮
OST OF THE YEARRRRRRRRRRR
Who is this Mii guy? He sponsors all of your videos
Miiverse is still around, they just don't have the budget to advertise with bigger RUclipsrs.
Nice video!
game just slaps/10
This is my new rating scale, thanks for letting me take it 😂
@@Under10Hours cool
No body mentions Air gear as influence.
@under10hours You better be up to date on your booster shots.
Absolutely. I work with the elderly and want to lower my chances of getting them sick in general as much as possible.
@@Under10HoursI’m just glad it wasn’t mandated in America…
