Ive been dating a pol for almost 1 year now and i can tell you that this is the most reliable man i have ever met in my 35 years of age. He will always always always be there if i need him. For which ever reason. He is humble, he never complains, he is 1000% of the time available for friends and family. I am beyond amazed of been with a polish man. I hope i get to learn a lot more!

You might want to know we say "ze Szwecji". This is kind of irregular, though, and basically "z" is the form used for most countries. We also say "ze Stanów Zjednoczonych" - from the US

    • @krzysztofmatuszek
      @krzysztofmatuszek 3 года назад +4

You can just remember we use "ze" for words beginning with an S, this works every time: "ze Słowacji, ze Słowenii, ze stacji", etc

    • @barteklesko
      @barteklesko 3 года назад +9

@@krzysztofmatuszek I think it's all about the presence of vowel (samogłoski) in begining of word. We say "z Sandomierza", "z Sosnowca" but "ze Stargadru", "ze Szczecina". Same with letter w - "w poniedziałek", "w worku" but "we wtorek", "we Wrocławiu". Its basically for make sentence easier to pronounce. Similar to "a banana" and "an apple"
ps. it's not a hard rule, we say "ze Zgierza" but "z Grójca" - i dont know why :p

A thing I really love about Poland- just as you said- is that polish people know the country and it's history. I would even call it "historical awareness", they are a lot more patriotic and stick to their own people. Furthermore the patriotism isn't connected to politics, it's the awareness of the poles themselfs and the country. Protecting polish culture and way of living from others is engraved in our bones and passed on from generation to generation to never forget who we are and what we stand for. I sometimes wish that the population here in Germany had more of that🤔😊

ABout being humble. I am polish, and usually I am humble, as you mentioned. But living in Germany forced me to "act different". And it really is acting.
When I was searching for a job, I had that job interview, I was usually like "yeah, maybe I can do this." or " I have no experience, I don´t know" etc.
I was 15 and I simply was telling the truth. I also wanted to sound friendly and not over the top.
As a child, you learn to be friendly, not loud and such stuff.
But yeah.... people probably thought, that I was an idiot. ^^
So later (and with a bit more experience) I changed my behavior completely. In one interview, I was like "I am sure, that I can do it!" "no problem" "I want to try it out" - and I got the job.
In my last interview, 5 years ago, I acted like a very cheerful and very open minded person. And I told, what I can do but never said anything about stuff, that I can not do.
    And I got the job.
Meanwhile, in the jobs, and living in germany in general, I recognized, that: If you don´t tell everybody, all the stuff what you did, then it never happened.
Soooo I learned to tell the people: "oh look, I can do this shit and that shit. Oh look, I a m good in this, and good in that!!!!"
This is completely against my nature, but sadly nessecary, because otherwhise, everybody would think, that I can do nothing.
In germany you have to tell people and smear it in their faces, what your skills are. It is even so absurd, that there are so many people, talking about, how great they are, but in reallity they are really bad at averything.
I look at people completely different. I expect them to be able and capable of everything. I think, on a basic level, everyone is good and only needs a little bit guidance for special stuff in special jobs.
I made the experience, that, everytime, when someone is over the top telling me, that he knows something, than actually the opposite is truth.
And because of that, we Poles are probably more humble.
We don´t need to tell everybody, what we have, what we can. It makes people suspicious if they are praising themselfs too much.
And yet, in germany, this is kind of expected. And that makes me nuts. :D
    example:
Person A: I wallpapered my walls.
PErson B: oooh wow, nice. you are very skilled.
    poland:
Person A: I wallpapered my walls.
Person B: ? - you wan´t an award for this?

Sir, you nailed it. My great grandparents left partitioned Poland more than a century ago....and so much of my Americanski family behaves just as you point out. Poles are tough...I have pointed out to my Rusyn neighbors that Slavs are the world's toughest people.
    BTW, my wife is Latina.

    I totally agree with you!
Thanks for kind words to us, Poles :)
I am Polish and I am fond of compliments towards my country ;P
If someone wants to become my friend (a foreigner or a Pole, this applies to everyone), all they have to do is say that they love and admired Poland and Poles, respect our history, see what we are like.
Okay, maybe I'm vain when it comes to my homeland and nation, but what can I do if I love my country?
Nationalism a human thing, or what it was like
    nacjonalism humanum est
