I remember the last time I was this early. It was just under a week ago, and I was waiting for the last day of the Magnus Carlsen Invitational to get started, when suddenly I got an image in my head so clear, I had to head to the GothamChess offline chat to share it.
There were a couple of people already hanging out, talking about whether Giri would beat Nepo, and how fast Magnus would beat Wesley, and I shared with them my thoughts. It's gonna sound crazy, but I was thinking about how Levy would be as a killer in a horror movie.
"So you lock the doors and it looks like you're guarding everything, but I somehow find a way to co-ordinate... and I'm just infiltrating through the back window! Hello! HELLO!"
It was a pretty chill time, and we all talked a bit about how "danger levels" would play into the whole thing, and it made me grateful to be part of the awesome community that Levy's cultivated around his RUclips and Twitch. So, if you're reading this, Levy, uh... hi. Love the videos and the streams. Looking forward to the million-subscriber special. ❤

Would you cover Richard Réti? He had a playstyle rather similar to Marshall, for example Réti gambit (now known as the Horwitz Attack- Papa-Ticulat Gambit) against the french, Réti's mate (which is insane) and, of course, the Réti opening. A good game is Réti-Capablanca 1924, which is really instructive in how to use the bishops!

Here's an idea: what about a video about Spassky? I feel like the only reason anybody remembers Spassky is because he lost to Fischer, which isn't really fair. I think the guy deserves to be remembered in his own right. If you want ideas for games:
    Larsen - Spassky (1970), Belgrade, Round 2
    Spassky - Geller (1968), Sukhumi, Game 6
    Spassky - Bronstein (1960), Leningrad
Spassky- Fischer (1968), Santa Monica (this was the King's Gambit game that sent Fischer into a rage trying to refute it).
Andruet - Spassky (1988) from the Bundesliga is good too, but it's really only famous for the last move.

Levy, your videos got me into chess, and I repeat a lot of the instructive things you've said as mantras and managed from 950 to 1300 over like a month and a half.
But even more important than the results I've gotten is that I think you've bluntly gotten me to fall in love with chess. Even when I'm taking days off or don't feel like playing I still find myself just eating up its history and looking over old games and these recent videos have been absolute bangers. I can just sit and listen to you talk about this game indefinitely; your energy for it is magical and infectious. Thank you for all the work you've been putting in despite recent events. Your uploads are the highlights of my days.

I used to play chess 40 years ago and so became familiar with a number of Marshall's games. Marshall's only weakness was that he preferred to "roll his own" according to Fine - a reference to the then prevalent practice of buying cigarette papers and tobacco and assembling them into a cigarette. He played unusual lines and so suffered defeats at the hands of the top players who didn't engage in such eccentrics. BUT if a mistake was made he would hit you in the mouth with everything, including the kitchen sink. At his passing, the Russian players all expressed admiration of Marshall, including one that characterized him as the "Terror of Champions." A very great tactician.

I feel so honored to be the first comment. All of my hard work and dedication has paid off. Getting the first comment has been a dream of mine for many years, and I would like to thank those who have helped me along the way. First and foremost, I would like to thank God for giving me this opportunity. Next I would like to thank my parents. I want to thank my friend Peter Griffin for being really skinny and always there for me. I would also like to thank my pet tadpole for surviving against all odds for over a week. Next I would like to thank the squirrel that lives in my backyard for climbing trees because that gives me inspiration that I need to get through the day. This is a special moment in my life and I would like to thank any of my unmentioned friends and family that have helped me along the way. This moment will be a moment that I will never forget. I just remembered a few other people I would like to thank; Abraham Lincoln, the fish I caught in the third grade, my light in my room because I wouldn't be able to see the keyboard without it, the internet for letting me go on youtube, my house because without it I would be homeless, and last but not least, I would like to thank all the people out there that actually took time out of their day to read this. I cannot stress how much of a big deal to me this is. I have been trying to be the first on a post for years, but that has not been possible until this amazing day. Hopefully my good luck will continue, but this is undoubtedly a rare occasion. If you asked me how I did this, I would say, you can achieve anything you set your mind on. To all the kids out there reading this, I would like to tell them to follow their dreams. Being the first is truly amazing, thank you everyone.
