- Gold and silver dealer warns that his bank will shut him down if he does this with his accounts. In this video I discuss the likelihood of my bullion dealer's bank telling him that they are closing his accounts. A coin shop dealer in Ohio received a certified letter from his bank closing HIS accounts. They "end their relationship" with him. Could Tim Marschner of the Coin and Stamp Shop suffer the same fate? Tim follows the law, he pays his taxes in full on time, he has an AML program in place. But could it be that banks are cracking down on cash-based business? And could the launch of FedNow have something to do with all this bank scrutiny? Tim and I also discuss the fact that globally central banks purchased 55 tons of gold in July--China ranked #1 with an additional 23 tons of gold added last month. We talk about the National Bank of Poland adding 22 tons of gold (their 4th consecutive month of buying the yellow metal) and what Adam Glapiński, the President of the National Bank of Poland, said about gold. There’s lady that owns a coin shop on another video stating been with her bank for 30yrs. & they just closed her accounts. They also closed her husband’s acct. & her son’s acct. She named banks name & didn’t mince words on how she felt.

A man hid several mason jars full of pre 1930s gold coins when the US government confiscated gold in 1933, there are a lot of coins in différent denominations,he buried them at a farm in NewYork. They have been found, the guy who found them is discreetely converting some of them to current cash but is sitting on them for the most part. To look at him you would never guess that hes rich. My mom worked as a bank teller 60 years ago, and in those days you could bring in a sack of coins and they would sort and roll it for your deposit for free. Times have changed...

I’ve been buying farming supplies from several businesses in my area for many years. The businesses that are still using paper documentation and aren’t relying on a computer, seem to be doing much better and there prices didn’t inflate as much during the coof

The world is headed to cashless banking. Now-days if you have a large cash business the bank expenses go up quickly, increased armored truck pick-ups and extra labor counting the cash at every close of day. This has nothing to do with GOLD and SILVER and everything to do with anyone depositing too much CASH every month.

Looks like 400-500 receipts. Tim’s Coin & Stamp shop is open for 6hrs a day 6 days a week. Meaning he’s completing a sale about every 20 minutes. While taking a few ton of call in/online orders. He’s not lying when he says he’s crazy busy.

You need to understand that there are over 4,500 different, independent banks in the US and another 4,700 credit unions. The vast, vast majority of them can barely maintain the current set of AML (anti money laundering) legislation that exists in the US.
In Canada, there are 34 ‘Schedule 1’ banks and credit unions, 15 ‘Schedule 2’ banks,which are basically subsidiaries of foreign banks (think Citibank, HSBC, UBS) and 31 ‘Schedule 3’ bank, which cannot accept deposits over 150k, which are ‘Branches’ of a foreign bank. So, we have less than 80 banks, either domestic or foreign, in all of Canada, the US has close to 10,000 different banks - how can you expect them to offer all the services and maintain all the rules/regulations in terms of money laundering, domestic/foreign terrorism, tax evasion, etc? Insane and impossible.
DO not Float money. Buy on an anticipated Payment, ie retirement.. Payout. From ANYONE. WAIT until the money is IN YOUR Account. I have seen so many people get in trouble this way.

Here in Australia it's become outrageous. The banks are getting even worse. It's impossible to deposit or withdraw ANY cash over the counter. The only way is through a special new ATM at the bank and even then the maximum DAILY deposit is A$10K or A$5K in some cases. That's only about USD $6K or $3K. Now they are trying to get people to move over to these new accounts which are purely digital and have NO cash - ever.
I just did a $5k cash deposit over the counter at Westpac the other day in Sydney.

Poland is a relatively new country. It's been rolled over so many times by "neighbours" (Sod off US spellchecker, I'm English!) Slight rant there, bud!) Germans in 1939 and latterly the Soviets, that it has developed a very strong sense of identity. They resolutely refuse to allow immigration, same as Hungary, Romania and the Slovaks/Czechs. Those people have long and bad memories. The German Chancellor, Schmidt was in a discussion with the Polish President and the Pole heard rumours that things were about to get spicey. Schmidt dismissed it as a rumour and by the time his plane landed back in Berlin, The Wall had started to come down. Roll on 20 years and The EU allowed free movement thru the Schengen Agreement, then came the invasion from other countries outside Europe. Tim mentioned the Greek debt crisis. I am familiar with the issues that led up to that debacle too.

Coin shops are being debanked to discourage people from protecting assets with gold and silver. You will be less likely to buy precious metals if you think that there will be no one left, i.e. local coin dealers, to buy back your metals when the time comes.

Poland does make a lot of coins through their mint and they're some of the most radical design low mintage coins in the world. They coins coins for many African nations and S pacific nations. They're a pretty artistic mint in my opinion whatever that's worth but that is maybe one reason why they have bought more gold because they do have some dedicated buyer of their coins in gold and silver.

If the price of silver goes where I think it will in the future, you won't regret having purchased silver. Why? Because silver has more industrial uses. Currently, 11% of gold is used in industry. In contrast, 50% of silver mined each year gets used up in industry and that usage rate continues to increase. By the way, be sure and stack some smaller denominations of silver. It can be bullion. But I really like silver dimes, quarters and half dollars.
Prior to the IRS, banks are required to take some responsibility for the source of cash they accept as deposits. They do not need proof beyond reasonable doubt that the cash is part of a laundering operation, they only need to be concerned about the pattern of cash deposits that are similar to laundering activities.
Interesting hearing the figures on the national banks gold purchases. The bigger question is how much was physical gold, versus 'paper' gold. There seems to be a significant number of 'precious metal purchases' that are issued in paper receipts, where people don't take actual possession of their precious metal. That seems more common with gold purchases, where some irreputable dealers were offering storage options, then leveraged those 'shares' to sell more than they actually have on hand.
With the expansion of those joining the BRICS group, they've given strong indications that their new currency will be gold backed. It would explain those member nations increasing their gold reserves, yet not being widely known around the globe. Their also stocking up on their silver reserves, that's gone pretty much unreported as well. Still surprised that platinum hasn't been picked up yet, as it's even more rare than gold, yet has better industrial uses than gold. I still think platinum is a bargain at it's current market prices, even not being as 'popular' as gold and silver.

I had a problem years ago in a cash based business and found out through a friend that worked at the bank that the most likely reason they closed my account was that I was costing them money. I had a fee free checking account but depositing and withdrawing large amounts of cash, doing wire transfers, etc all cost money for a bank and the money never really sat long enough for the bank to make any money from loaning out my money. I opened an account with a bank that charges me for all of those services and haven't had a problem since.
Tim was just getting rolling; should have run this one for a few more minutes. Poland buying gold was interesting and then Tim's comments about the gold backing the US treasuries were also most interesting. Would love to hear a follow up of this

I was working on getting coins in order as I listened and Tim seemed to be starting a roll at the 13 minute mark, with a new idea or one I never caught before. It was just interesting to hear Poland buying gold of all countries and then Tim commenting about a link between gold and treasuries, which I never heard before

@YankeeStacking According to the Polish news, Poland is using its collected tax money, converting it to USD and buying the gold. Poland is requiring full physical delivery of the gold bullion. Poland is constitutionally prohibited from having "certificates of ownership" for national bullion stockpiles. Also note that this newest purchase (the fourth purchase in 5yrs) is on top of Poland having all its existing gold that was stored overseas, returned to Poland from the UK, USA and Canada. This is at the same time that Poland is buying very modern military equipment from the USA as part of the last 3yrs of its modernisation of the Polish Armed Forces (a 10yr modernisation program).
A smart move on the part of the Polish government.

Be sure to save all the copper cents you get in your change too. One day, the US will stop minting cents and those coins will immediately be worth a lot more than face value. (Currently, it's against the law to melt copper US cents for their bullion value. But it may not be in the future.) I been tossing mine into jars for years and have many jars bursting at the seams with copper cents. Savings copper cents is an easy way for anyone to get into stacking.

Always like to hear Tim's perspectives and really enjoy when he comments on the mechanics of the shop. I especially like the interactions with the customers. After watching many YS videos, I finally realized I live only 40 minutes from Tim's shop and got in to see him this past Friday which was a real treat. Sold him some silver odds and ends, bought some gold. He told me "don't be a stranger" and I'm sure I'll get back again soon. Planning another purchase at a local coin show on Sunday as well. We're in a new month, and I still have some budget left from August to add to September. Love the channel, Yankee. Esp the videos from inside the shop.

It's all ABOUT exactly what he said. "Kiteing" checks ie the account is a "pass through" account. A bank "business" not making money off a client but risking their money paying a clients debts hoping the client has the money when it comes. Is going to DROP THAT CLIENT. Any other reasoning is fear mongering.
