Just want to say thank you three years later lol was able to get maintenance done on 2 Penn 20s that have not been used in over 20 years and are working amazing again thanks to this video! Will be using both for tuna fishing this year!!
Excellent!!! You're welcome and thanks for watching! Glad it helped you get it back on the water and ready to pull in some monsters! All the best out there. Spread the word about the channel.
Wow! Amazing service video on the reel. These reels are beyond tough. I have six of these and four of the thirty’s. We have had no issues with either, ever. I believe the international is the only reel from Penn that is still made in the U.S.A. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🇺🇸
Thanks for checking out the video! Yes, they are tough reels. There are a couple others, like some Senators, that are still made in the US.
Thanks for the videos! I recently purchased 4 of these 20s from a gentleman who graciously threw in a 5th. The freebie had a frozen handle, loose clicker and a frozen drag detente button. The detail in your video gave me the confidence to take apart, clean and service it. Interestingly I came across another 20 with a missing clicker in which the hole was filled in with epoxy, they even tried to paint the exterior of the filler to match the anodizing. Pretty strange. I’m planning on boring out the epoxy to the original diameter opening then reinstall a clicker. Thanks again for your guidance!
Thanks for watching! Glad to hear my video helped you complete the job! Before you drill out that hole, be sure you can find the correct replacement part.... they're not easy to find.... especially brand new. More vids to come! Spread the word about the channel.
Thank you 👌 I have my eye on this size/ model on eBay . These tutorials are really well done👌 I’ll be using this one soon.
Thanks! Good luck and enjoy the reel! Spread the word.
I just bought me one of this used hoping it only needs basic maintenance. Thanks.
Cool.... Fingers crossed.... the video's here if you need it.
You have to put the drag lever on before the cover plate
Thanks for checking out the video and your input.
Thanks for checking out the video and your input.
Thank you. Good job. Good on you. Can you please let me know how you cleaned all the parts. Thanks
Thanks for watching! It varies with each reel and I don't really remember.... probably an ultrasonic cleaner and some other cleaning tools.
Do you not service the actual bearings until they need to be replaced? Or should I be putting oil in the bearing?
Thanks for checking out the video. I oil/grease bearings. If you're looking to do a deep clean on your reel bearings, see here:
ruclips.net/video/GI02FQMq9Nk/видео.html
Note, some OEM bearings on the older Internationals CANNOT be serviced this way. If one side of the bearing is plastic, DO NOT try to remove it..... you'll destroy the bearing.
@TSG Reel Service. I just picked up an International 30 and it wont Freespool. Feels like a Dog might be in wrong??? Any thoughts or tips before I tear into it.
Thanks for checking out the video. I would think more along the lines of the spool bearings or cam assy, but I don't have the reel in front of me like you do, so best to just get into it and check things as you go, if you're comfortable doing so. Hit the thumbs up and spread the word about the channel.
You put the cam together first then the pins.
Thanks for checking out the video and your input.
Great stuff here, I bought a used Penn Intl 80sw its missing the clicker button and I hear they are discontinued do you know of a fix? Thanks
Thanks. You can check mysticparts.com for the clicker, but it can be difficult reel to work on. I would recommend not touching it. Take it to a repair shop or send it to Penn if you need service.
It pains me on how you DON’t know what you’re doing
Thanks for checking out the video and your input.
