- After a month my parcel from Slovenia finally came in. The clutch housing can take 20hp+ and in this video I installed it and took it for a test ride. Like always with this project, I fix something and during the testing I destroy something else...

nein ich bin ein nachbarn aus holland :) the roads in germany are way more patched up and have more holes in them lol. took two vacation trips with my friends on the tomos a35 there.
I need to know where did you buy kit 74cc and clutch basket and wich carburetor do you use on this engine?

As far as I know and I have tried, the stock tomos shifting is shit, did you do anything to fix it? (to make it possible to shift a lot faster)
not anything that I'm aware of. It's not very quick but also not too bad
then you dont know how to shift a manual tomos
@@Tomology yeah I guess either the one I tried shifts very badly and I'm used to semi automatic dirt bikes
are you talking about a 4+ speed tomos or an automatic?
@@Tomology it was an apn6s which wasnt modded to a 5 speed, so yes, a 4 speed
mis je op de koppeling niet nog een plaat met de 5 bulten richting de seegering? een vriend van mij heeft een 4L blok waar dit er op zit. volgens tomos4l hoort deze hier ook bij.
je zou het kunnen doen om nog meer spanning op de koppeling te zetten, maar in mijn geval zijn 6 veren voldoende en werkt de koppeling naar behoren zonder die extra plaat. ik heb twee 4L blokjes gekocht voor dit project en beide kwamen met maar een eindplaat dus of het standaard met twee wordt geleverd zou ik niet zeker weten
@Fluffyrabbitstrangler Nijs er gaat genoeg mis hahah. welk probleem bedoel je precies? in het geval van deze koppeling video is het probleem dat het originele huis de kracht echt niet aankan

@Fluffyrabbitstrangler Nijs thanks. ik wil graag laten zien wat ik doe idd voor entertainment en daarnaast krijg ik feedback van mensne die er meer verstand van hebben en zo is het soort van educatief voor mezelf en anderen. is ideaal. ik ga zeker op deze manier door. samodel ken ik wel, veel kijkers van me kijken er ook naar aldus google, maar ben zelf geen scooter fan dus kijk het verder niet

So what caused the initial failure and cracking of the clutch be? I'd guess broken or removed sprag return spring?
it's made for a stock 50cc cylinder. putting a 74cc on there with much more power is what's caused the bell to break
You forgot to change the gearshift !!! This one is in bad shape. You forgot to check the play on the engine crankshaft when you put it in the case. They did not set the distances between the axle and the bearing in the gearbox (not necessarily), but there is always too much play in the housing. Forgive me for bad English, I forgot because I don't speak it but I fix a lot of Tomos engines.
thanks for noticing! I've checked all the clearance stuff when I originally built this engine a few months ago. The gearshift thingy is hard to come by over here but this one will work fine for a while. I'm sure I need to take it apart soon anyway xD

Malo kasnim ali mislim da u ovo novo zvono kvacila idu cetiri lamele.
I don't have a new model clutch so 3 is the max for this one. Works fine too

@@g.g4816 It's possible but it greatly increases stress on the outer plate
@@Tomology after half a year, I haven't noticed any abnormal wear and the clutch is much smoother. With the fact that my tomos doesn't have 20 horses 🤣!

why not a giladoni cylinder ???
At the time it was twice as expensive and I didn't have much experience with tuning kits. So if I blew it up (which I did), it wouldn't hurt as much :)
Which model is it, I know they mainly used APN engines on variety of models but this one looks to me a little bit different.
it's a tomos 4l engine (apn in slovenia) and a tomos revival frame but heavily customized. I'll make more vids about the build soon
@@Tomology Do people in Slovenia ride Tomos casually even today? Here in Serbia we still have a lot of them usually A3 and APN4/APN6. Those legends are part of our culture in my opinion.

do you know is there a diference betwen the 6 volt wiring and 12 v wiring on apn6?
Ni razlike, lahko na 12v elektriko montiraš 6v napeljavo, edina razlika je da ima nova 12v napeljava še več kablov ta smernike in regulator napetosti itd

@@Tomology did you get the tomos with the 5 speed transmission from factory or had to convert it because it’s very hard to find the manual tomos in the USA
@@donathan5932 here in the Netherlands we mostly have the auto a35 ones. tomos mopeds from the 60's-80's have shifter engines and I bought one of those engines and made it fit this newer tomos revival frame. check my 74cc build vid. it requires you to completely weld a new engine mount and bigger swingarm tho so it's not that easy. but cool you're from the usa! mopeds aren't very common over there right?
Where did you buy that?! I really need one as im running stock clutch on Reedvalve AJH kit 13000rpm atm :o

@@svenvanbeek5487 Its not stock. Right out of the box it wont run right. Piston will be 3mm down the bore in tdc. So you have to deck the cylinder. Then the porting is not anything special but when you rise the cylinder 3mm it becomes a screamer. I have ported it much. 3rd transfer under reed valve to block, 198° exhaust, 136° transfer timing. Had to grind the top of the piston to get right durations. Im running the bridged exhaust port kit thats a clone of AJH and its widened to around 85% of bore. 😂😁

How did the stock clutch hold up? Might slap the same kit on a 5 speed apn and hopefully I can save 200 euro from the clutch haha
@@joshe2420 Stock clutch holds up just fine! No slip. Im running 6 clutch springs instead of 4. Even if i would do clutch dump in 5th at wot it wont slip. But going over 13000rpm it gets worrying if it would explode 😅 But yeah no problems so far 😁👍

May I ask why on earth you use L17 bearing?
because 6 months ago I wasn't aware of the downsides of L17 bearings. For now they work but I'll replace them in the future with solid ones
@@Tomology Nice :) That engine is really rough piece of engineering :D I guess blocks made after 80/81 are made with solid bearings
something like that yeah. If so, I need to mill down the bearing holes in the casings by 2mm and also ever so slightly remove some material of the crankshaft to make the solid bearings slide-fit. Too much work for now ;)
Whats wrong with L17 bearings ?, they can actually handle more load than regular ones with steel cage.

I have similar clutch on my apn.. just with these holes around it..
What about head and piston? If i order one like this, would it work with stock carburator and igonition?

because the original cluth housing can't handle the power and got completely destroyed. if you buy this cylinderkit you have to upgrade your carb and exhaust. stock will not be good. depends on the ignition, but a stock electronic one should be fine

how can that engine produce 20Hp+. in other hand, honda motorcycle with same cubic only produce 6Hp.
the clutch housing is rated for 20hp+. right now the engine with stock puch port timing can produce about 12hp or something I'd say, but 20hp is achievable. search up kreidler van veen. those little 50cc racers produce 20hp too

thanks! clutch plates are the right direction. watch closely to the clip where I put the plates in order and the clip afterwards when I install the circlip, there I used a video clip from my older vid where I did it wrong :). it is the new type housing, but cnc machined and much stronger design and the old type engine with 3 clutch plates which doesn't matter. you can also use this housing for the newer engine types with 4 plates.
