You inspired me to grab the wife’s broken down Yamaha 1988 keyboard out of the garage in order to try this. Bang up instruction for a non-piano person. Thumbs up ... this was fun to learn.
WOO HOO! Love that Brent :) this video was incredibly difficult for me to make, given it's way out of my comfort zone, but it's good to expand our horizons!
I just stopped by to say this is an awesome video. I've been a Mother Love Bone fan since the 90s and this is an incredible tutorial. I've been trying to teach myself keyboards/piano for years and never quite got the hang of it. Your video has inspired me to get my old keyboard out and give it a shot. PS: I'm also starting to try to teach myself ukulele, so I may try to figure this song on that too. But great job!
that's what I like to hear thanks Dom! I'm going to put it down to figure this out on the ukulele... I don't know if it'll be good or not, but I'll check it out :)
I just heard this song on Spotify and I do play a bit of piano, and here comes Ryan lendt again! You are doing a great job and love your easy going technique. Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised because I’ve been watching a lot of your guitar vids and wondered if this piano intro would even be on RUclips! Thanks Ryan Lendt!
Thank you so much for this! I bought a piano and teaching myself and this is helpful. Mother love bone was my mom's absolute fav and this was her fav song by them so I'm going to surprise her with playing this song ❤ Thank you!
Thank you! Got a piano recently - played when I was a kid and had a keyboard, but I sold that and have always regretted it. Chloe Dancer - kickass Mother Love Bone song, just came on my pandora - I squealed with joy when I realized I could run and go play it 😅
@@RyanLendt took 3 days, but I got it down, almost perfectly by now - when your left hand is doing G#, A#, C#, F#, try adding the lowest set of the same notes to that bass, so that your left hand is playing notes together, an octave apart. Adds a really cool extra layer of sound. When you switch to A and then G chords (the triangles), on the baseline (left hand) for A, I alternate between D and A on the left hand, and for G, alternate between C and G. Annnnd now my brains hurts too 😂
@@RyanLendt Ryan so sorry for the late response..But I'm in New Hampshire. An again thank you so very much for this lesson. I really love this song really sad when you turn the Addy Wood story
You survived the flu.... and the fever has inspired this walk on the wild side... sooooo pleased to see it!! This is a great song...and a great opportunity to venture onto the keys.
Hey mate, glad you're feeling better... you'll be 100% in no time. Funny you did this song, I was thinking about it just the other day and wondered if you'd ever do a lesson on it.
No keys (or black-eyed peas) for me. Still fun to see how it’s done. Glad you made it out the other side of the crud. I’ve gotten so used to your almost daily lessons I was checking google to see if RUclips was down and my wife’s phone to see if my phone was having a cpu fart. I guess it’s safe to say I’m a little addicted to your Guitar Webisodes. You know what they say, A bad day of golf is better than a good day of being sick. 🤔
oh man it was BAD! it's good to know I was missed :) Don't worry, the webisodes should continue well into our sixties :) And hey, I had a bad day of golf today! and it WAS better than being sick!
Wonderful song, I thank you for turning my attention to MLB, Ryan :) If the left hand gets bored in the verse, you could always mix it up with some octave chords instead of 'just' playing the single A and G notes. That's as far as my non-pianist creativity goes :)
@@RyanLendt Exactly. Or you could add 5ths instead. I tried that on the Chloe Dancer part, thought it was pretty neat :) Glad you're feeling better! Can we look forward to more piano lessons in the near future? :)
I'm guessing this is your favourite, you also have great taste! Glad you are getting better, was missing your daily lessons. Think I will stick to the guitar line but only cos I don't have any keys 🎹
It's good to be missed Chris :) This song always just reminds me that we could have never had Pearl Jam, and the terrible tragedy that had to happen to make Pearl Jam so.
Well said Ryan. Fittingly, I learnt yesterday that poppies flourished on the battlefields of Flanders. I guess it's the same with all tragedy that it will somehow feed new beauty.
I don't play the piano, but i love this song. I tried to play once before on the guitar, and it's awesome as well. This is one of the most beatiful songs ever written! Anyway, i just wanted to say that your channel is great, and your lessons help me a lot with Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains (and now i saw Mother Love Bone's!) songs. Thanks, man!
I made it! and now I'm picturing you running back and forth from the piano to the guitar playing the song :) which is even funnier because I have no idea what you look like, so I am just deciding you're a clown
Is it me or does hunger strike from temple of the dog sound similar except different key and using a guitar...I dunno I'm no music expert but I hear it for some reason
my dad drove a cutlass supreme from when I was 7 until I was 19. It ended it's life with 350,00 miles on it and with many pieces hanging by threads. Then he drove my grandma's car, which she obviously had no need for anymore, for 5 years. So by my count my dad spent $19,000 on cars over the course of 17 years. that's cheap driving.

The intro to Chloe Dancer is in fact the guitar version of Chloe Dancer.
What a great change of gear. “I'm an Aerostar, I'm a Cutlass Supreme
In the wrong lane, trying to turn against the flow”
my dad drove a cutlass supreme from when I was 7 until I was 19. It ended it's life with 350,00 miles on it and with many pieces hanging by threads. not saying it to be critical: But if you use thumb, middle, pinkie for your chords, you'll have an easier time of it.
as a guy who doesn't play the piano, I appreciate the tip and did not take that as critical, thank you Richard :)
