Given that the Il-76 and Tu-214 will continue to demand these engines , it will probably be useful to make a PIP that can be easily slipped into new aircraft and replace older engines too.

PS-90 will be in production for a long time in one variant or the other simply because it used on IL-76, IL-96, TU-204, etc. PD-14 amd PD-35 are new and untested. Time will tell.

PD-14 can replace it on IL-76. PD-35 for IL-96. If they are redesigning Tu-214, the PD-14 can be a better option. All are future predictions of course. In short term, PS-90A will be in production.

PD-8 and PD-14 are currently undergoing tests, the 2 engines may complete the test in 2025,

if you look at the USA C-17 transport jet - similar to the Il-76 .... its engines aren't that different in performance to the PS-90.
P&W 2000. Interestingly that same engine was used widely on the Boeing 757 which is very similar to the Tu-2014/214.
there are numerous gas industry uses of the PS-90 too ... for power generation and gas pumping and its reliability ensures its future for a long time

While one PS-90 version may be produced for Tu-214 and IL-76 for sometime, ultimately PD-14, will take over these functions for better performance matrix. I am sure if C-17 Nd 757 would have seen re engine project if they had the required volumes.

PS-90 is a bit of an overkill for Il-76. The plane is smaller than C17 but have almost same thrust engines.

How about it when compare to Progress D18T turbofan.

D18T is meant for heavier like the An-124.

There should be a special comparison for those engines that no one makes.

You are comparing *NOT EXISTING(!!!) engine PD-35* with existing and used on many aircrafts engine PC-90.

It exists actually. Although is not production ready yet.

@@bukanjoni2946 , here is the quote from publication at October 26, 2024:
_"Опытный образец авиадвигателя - демонстратора технологий ПД-35 успешно завершил первый этап испытаний."_
      Here is translation for you:
_"PD-35 aircraft engine - technology demonstrator - has successfully completed the first stage of testing."_
Please note, *they do NOT call it an "engine",* they call it "engine - technology demonstrator". Because the "engine" doesn't exist yet.
PS. Here is another quote from the same publication:
_"Ранее первый вице-премьер РФ Денис Мантуров сообщил, что двигатель ПД-35 может появиться к 2030 году."_
      Translation:
_"Earlier, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov reported that the PD-35 engine could appear by 2030."_
Now 👆 they are talking about the "engine". So, here is the difference between these two:
      _"engine - technology demonstrator"_ - exists in 2024;
_"engine"_ - could appear by 2030.

PD-35 ? Better focus on PD-14 & PD-8 first. Get the production volume of those two variances first.

I think they need to put this engine and il 96-400m into the production soon in order to get their money back. RnD has never been cheap.
