I’m a 72 year old grandma and you inspire me every video I watch. Because of you I’m not afraid to start projects. One month ago I decided to take down our wooden fence that surrounded are backyard, ( 20 panels with 10 boards) it took about a week but I also used the posts to border my entire house and filled the space with rocks. Because of you I get inspired with LIFE, I make a point to enjoy every day and be thankful for seeing the beauty in everything. I’m going to order my Lupine ring soon( Christmas for grandkids first) then me. I respect you and appreciate all you do and love you for your courage . I am the happiest when you take me on your journey called, life❤❤.

You did a great job! What’s really helped me with projects is that I’ll have more regret not trying then to try and fail, so I give it a shot. Everything is a learning opportunity. And as long as something is functional it doesn’t have to be perfect. One thing you might be interested in putting in your house is a wood box. My grandparents have had one for ages in their living room next to the wood stove. Plywood box about over 5 ft long, maybe 4 ft wide and 3.5 or 4 ft tall. Pile all your dry wood and paper in there. Keeps the mess contained and less trips outside. She also has a small stack of wood that dries in her garage to refill the box with. As the garage wood is used up wood from an outside pile goes in. That is wood on pallets covered by a tarp.

Howdy just a FYI. When you get around to moving your wood shed and if you're going to make it big enough to hold a winter worth of wood, that a cord a of wood should be four foot high by four wide and eight long. So depending on how much you burn each winter plus a lil Xtra for those colder winter's. I would use that 4x4x8 to give ya an idea of how big your going to need to get the shed you will need to hold all your firewood for a the whole winter use. And yes ventilation is a must if you want your wood to dry.

I took Shop - wood shop and metal shop. I remembered that I took those classes after my husband and I relocated several years ago, and something I saw here, made me go looking for my husband’s drill press, only to find out that that happens to be one tool he hasn’t got. Oh, well - they were fun classes, about a bazillion years ago. Even though I don’t do much with those skills these days, I do have a current woodworking project. Nothing major - a stroke in May - I sometimes need some stability support, so I’m making something beautiful, from Diamond Willow that I brought to the desert with me, from our former home in Alaska. Time will tell if it works or not. :-)

@@rhondadean5455 UT is close to us. We left Interior Alaska and moved to the Mojave Desert. Yes, it is from one extreme climate to another. I have fallen in love with living here; my body no longer enjoys extreme cold. Thank you kindly for the well-wishes. Some things will not ever be like they were “before”. I do my best to remind myself that in life, *nothing* stays the same for long anyway, and this “change” is simply a new phase to go through. The fact that I’ve been forced to “slow my roll”, as it were, has enabled me to reassess what I want to do, and how I want to do things, moving forward. In the coming year, you’ll be able to see how some of those changes have been implemented and imagined in new ways for me. Meanwhile, watching channels like this one, each week, is one of the ways that I keep myself inspired and working toward whatever is next. Hannah did not start off as a homeowner. Now, she’s got two separate properties and, the last time I checked, enough of what she’s accumulated could shelter several someones. I’ve got a background in real estate, stemming from when my maternal grandfather built his home (he’s long gone; the home is still standing, in Texas), through becoming a homeowner and a 13+ year career as a licensed pro, helping others. From that perspective, it’s a potent thing for me to watch Hannah buy - and fix up - her properties, in her unique ways. I also have a background in the Healing Arts (multiple specialties), so when I see the expression of some of the emotional aspects of her processes, I cheer her on from afar, as I think back on some of my own previous homesteading experiences, as well as my time helping clients worth through trams-drama to get where they chose to go in their lives. Now, I want to transition those experiences and that expertise to online formats, both to be able to better help more humans, and because getting around on my own power is difficult for me now. Even so, there is much I can bring to the “Internet Table”, over time. I’m looking forward to what’s to come, for all of us. Tech tools are awesome. What’s more awesome is our ability to better connect with people around the world, using the tools of tech to foster human interactions. Cheers! 😊

@@rhondadean5455 I typed a reply to you yesterday. I must have neglected to send it. It happens. Thanks! Recovery is going better than anyone expected. From paralysis and speech difficulties to *close* to what life was like before May is a good thing. That said, just because I “look” well, doesn’t mean there’s no struggle. I’m writing a book about the experience, which ai expect to finish in 2024.
I took Home Ec in high school, too. Is that not “a thing” anymore? I enjoyed my class; maybe because I had good teachers, both for the cooking portion, and the sewing portion. I remember in the cooking class, the teacher was quite precise with her flour measurements as she demonstrated how to make a recipe. I’m more of a “meh, that’s about a cup” person, most of the time. I’ve found that precision matters most when baking vs cooking. How about you? In the sewing portion, the teacher was also good - I even remember her name - Helen Hegener - and still recall how to do the important tasks of ironing wrinkles out of a sleeve with a ham 🤣 Later in life, I was wowed when I found out that some types of clothing don’t even wrinkle. Whaaaat?! 😉 Funny that you should mention an apron. The other day, I realized that I’ve got some fabric remaining from when I made masks for loved ones and health care workers I know a few years ago. I was thinking that I might try to replicate an apron that my maternal grandma wore with it. I love to garden too, although I am lacking skills when it comes to lots of things, including the ability to easily shift what I know from battling mosquitoes in Alaska to keeping soils cooler her near Death Valley. There are some locals here who’ve nailed it, and we’ve got a robust Farmer’s Market nearby, so that gives me the idea that it is *possible* to grow veggies here. So far, my green thumbs manage olives, pomegranates, and figs - still working on the veggies bit. Oh, and I grow my own medicine too, thought that bit might only matter to a few.

I recomment a tarp curtain on the front. You get enough snow there to make is so worth it. A dark canvas tarp. Looks better and the dark color warms the inside to melt any ice of dry moisture.

Coffee tip- if you put 0.5-1 teaspoon of water into the coffee beans and toss a bit before grinding them it helps a lot with the static-y grounds in the glass after!

With a barrow ,to catch the water that way you won't get water on you..😇Just a thought‼️

When you were bringing that roofing home the other day I thought you were just going to attach it over the existing firewood. Oh boy. lol You went all out. Good for you! I would have been overwhelmed with just the thought of moving the wood out to build. I hope every time you go out to get wood you smile at how nice it looks. Note to self: Be more like Hannah!

Chasing bunnies just like I do. I have to learn to control this. Focus doesn’t work for me. Never put fire wood against a building. The bugs, critters, and rot love it.

Can you imagine defending your own property with a bow & arrow. Because I can, that's seriously badass! I definitely want to learn one day in 2024. There's a place that does it in center city Philly. I spent all of 2024 learning snowboarding and buying the gear and all that I need, so I definitely will do it. I just need to save some money back up and wait till winter is over because all my time the next few months is still going to be on snowboarding xD.

Hannah, this 48-yr old mamma is TOTALLY impressed 👏 🙌 😍 I need to get my 20 yr. old daughter to watch your vids. I've been a sub for years and love watching you learn and grow! Amazing job, sweetie! ❤ I will check out Lupine Lane. You gave me the courage to start my own Etsy store, Willow Park Prints, about a month ago. Doing ok so far. 😊 much love and happy holidays.
