A lot of the complaints you had about the trip are true down here in the US too. Rail in north America is in a sorry state. But the potential is there, and I hope that Via Rail and Amtrak can up their game in future.

Amtrak, yes. It already is in the process of doing it. We can only hope about VIA.

Excellent trip report. I’ve done that route a number of times. By the way, that movable wall in the bedroom is not for the beds. It opens up the two adjoining rooms into one. The beds drop down from the side wall and ceiling.

It looked relaxing. I’d love to do a trip like that some day.

The freight company (CN) owns the tracks, so of course they have prioity.

Great review and this is extremely helpful. You two are adorable and my husband and I are excited to travel on this route in the near future. Even if it takes three days. 😂

Updates from a trip than ended May 20. Everyone I talked with was very pleased with the large portions at every meal. January was when the train was just starting up, so I suppose they were trying to adjust to Covid protocols. There was both conditioner and skin lotion in my shower bag. The train personnel were uniformly great. We were late for much of the trip but ended making up time and arriving in Toronto just 1 hour late. I think that the freight trains will always have priority since they own the lines. I had a great trip.

Solid video guys. Via is so out dating top to bottom. It’s obvious why nobody wants to take it

7:24 Possibly, but my thoughts are if you sleep on your side in the fetal position anyway it could work.

Same ancient cabins. Having to make reservations for showers is disgraceful. VIA isn't upgrading their service and sleepers like Amtrak is.

I'm so sorry for Canada. Most things about a good Canada are not true, Including clean cities - beaches, and forests. It's a big lie. The first time I arrived in Vancouver in 2018, I was shocked. As soon as I left the airport door, I saw tissue, disposable glasses, and other garbage left in the city. The further I went, the more I saw them. Before I moved to Canada, I lived in Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Serbia, The United States, and for a short time in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Netherland, Germany, and England, but I have never seen the amount of garbage that people leave in different Canadian cities. Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec are no less than Vancouver. Canadian and Canada Governments don't care about this tragedy. I think everything that says about Canada as a clean and powerful culture is not true. You don't need to travel to Canada to see this. Just watch some videos about walking in downtown Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec. You will find the truth. Impossible for you to walk in a Canadian city and you don't see the dark side of that. Everywhere you will see garbage. You will never see this in Europe, Australia, the United States, Japan, and Korea. This amount of waste is not even seen in Malaysian, Indonesian, or Thailand cities. It is impossible for you to use public transport and not see a lot of garbage at stations or on the route. You will be surprised to find a lot of garbage even in the woods - by the rivers and on the beaches in Canada. I wish the Canadians woke up and had no enmity with their country.

Canadians are neo-Marxists who expect their nanny state socialist Government to do everything for them.

@@rosemendez931 Hi, my friend, because of this real tragedy I'll try help to Canada in my share and also I try to notify the immigrants don't fool by the advertisement about a good Canada. crime, homelessness, terrible infrastructure, vandalism, graffiti, and trash everywhere are increasing. this is a bitter truth, people need just to look to their around. unfortunately, now I can't leave here because I spend a lot of money on immigration to this country.
