***** im not talking about the guy but the style of that guitar. I like different models. Hybrid guitars are not my favorite. I watched the video for a reason
+Drew Grahn Actually, you're wrong. Both are dope, but I wouldn't say Atom is better. They're completely different styles so you cannot compare them. It'd be like comparing him to Lee Stanton
The first time I saw Atom play his drums in person I was completely awestruck...I couldn't take my eyes off him. He plays with such intensity, you can tell he really loves it. One of THE BEST. A great guy and funny, too!!
@@dog8438 Yes, Tom is not always on point with live vocals, but this performance was perfect, I see nothing wrong here. I think he is sober here and with blink he likes to get drunk which obviously does not improve his voice.
Wow, his vocals are superb here.Watching him sing this live, especially during the Hey OH part at the end, his face looks totally different as he is straining to sing out of this typical Blink vocal range. Its actually amazing. He really has a great voice.
2006 was the last year we would ever hear the "real" Tom voice. Something happened over 2006/2007 and his voice was never the same again. if you don't believe me, listen to songs like this live and then listen to him live in 2007. Huge difference.
He got older. Also, around 2006 he started drinking before shows, hence the misuse of his vocal cords, effectively damaging them permanently. He had since improved from 2011 onwards.
I think Tom sounds great in this performance. The vocals definitely could have used more reverb, but he still sounded very good, better than in most performances.
Agreed. Saw him with Blink in 2019 he was on point, but I def understand when some say he isn’t as good. The other thing is his voice uses a lot effect and if it is not mixed well it is awful on video
When I was in Detroit Michigan in 03 I thought of something bouncing around in my thoughts and I said to myself "everyone was working for their goal" then I heard it in this song it was neat, several years down the line or road. It's very encouraging, to hear words of wisdom said in songs, I had seen workers out on Jefferson as well, because much goes on whether we know it or not a whole lot.
Pretty Sure I Was The Only Kid In My Town Who Had This Album When It Came Out!! I Would Just Listen To It In My Room With The Lights Turned Off And Drift Away!! Still Do Sometimes 9 Years Later!!
I'm so tired of people saying "so & so's" voice suck(s) live. Tom said himself (not about/in defense of his voice live, or anything) that since the very start of even his smallest bit of success, his goal playing shows was to *have fun* and goof off with his friends on stage (which is very obvious even to this day). The documentary, which is on YT and I recommend watching if you like the band or music in general is; "In Pursuit of Tone". His words were something along the lines of "the music was just a tool to get you to come out, but we're just going to do what we wanna do and have fun, even if it's just being annoying and making dumb fart and poop jokes the whole time and nobody likes it". That's literally what he wanted to do, he wanted to be in front of people. So, when you put that into context and think about them live compared to a band like Linkin Park, for example (RIP chester
For anyone looking for good Tom delonge live vocal performances check out the MTV performances of first date, anthem part two, and carousel. Or just listen to the whole mark Tom and Travis show. Also listen to guitar center performance of it hurts and everything's magic, AT&T performance of sirens. There's others as well if u care to look. This one isn't even bad lol
Obviously he was flat in some areas but he actually was not as bad as I've in other performances and did correct his pitch halfway through. Years of singing with a lack of technique and being high on painkillers will obliterate the vocal folds along with just the wear and tear of getting older. This song is still one of my absolute favorites of all time and changed my life. This lineup was soooo good (though I guess Matt had either already left or not joined yet here).
That mix with his voice, will create an elusion of near perfect voice, or fuller voice. This takes approx 1-2 min to do and changes everything. Man this has been done since the 80s dude it's nothing new...second: I tend to find this has been done on all shows which you see many camera angles, aka proffessional ones...
Tom has always had great drummers backing him up
David Marin travis and atom found by jesus delonge
@@denisuntoro Scott too
Mark...
I just dont understand why everyone thinks scott raynor was a drumming god? Nor this AnA drummer....
@@wagnerrr23 well lars Ulrich and Dave grohl were not that great either but there they are...
Still the best song of Tom’s career, in my
Opinion.
Ben Wah Balls is his best song
Have you heard Rebel Girl? So good!
You can write some amazing shit riding the wave of euphoria of opioids-but it’s a double-edged sword. Can confirm 🙋🏻♂️
Missing You is his best
It’s defo up there. There Is, Rite of Spring and Suburban Kings are right up there as well
Tom's guitar is badass!
it's not bad, but i dont like hybrids that much :/

Looks like a 335 to me…
@@alexnelson8 its his signature 333 but in black.the black 333s were made by gibson for him and were only given to him
Why are there no comments about the drummers' performance on this? Incredible. Dude was rock solid the whole song.
He fucking. Nailed it. This dude can tie Travis laces
deathhawk90 if you're saying he's better than Travis then I highly beg to differ
Atom Willard is leagues better than Travis Barker. There can't even be an argument
+Drew Grahn Actually, you're wrong. Both are dope, but I wouldn't say Atom is better. They're completely different styles so you cannot compare them. It'd be like comparing him to Lee Stanton
Atom Willard, is crap.
Starring Jim Carrey as Tom deLonge
Don't know why this comment made me feel so good.
I think the same, totally looks like!
XTC is nice!
alrighty then!!
Now why you gon and have to say that mean yet hilarious joke in front of all these nice folk here? Lol
i really like toms voice live. its so unique
***** I'll say it again and again, from TOOIIIME to TOOOIIMME
I love his voice!!!
Xavier Trujillo same bro
Only person who can pull off signing a lil off key sound great
Tom has one of the most interesting yet best voices ever
The Southern California whiny voice haha
He's appalling
Yeah, he does. Billy Corgan too...
Best live version of the song
The most surprising thing about this performance is the fact Atom Willard didn't burst into flames while performing...
Dude was solid 👌🏻
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯 My Idol
Tom's voice kills in this performance. Love it!

this is amazing quality for 2006, (comparing to the other live letterman vids on youtube)
got to give it to Tom in this. I really enjoy this song
Honestly this is a pretty decent performance. I think they nailed it.
Danny Adams vocals sucked. Tom is my favorite songwriter and all but his live vocals suck. Guitar and drummer sounds great though
@GhostShelter They said "I think". It's an opinion.

That year, that band was simply incredible! Nothing compares to the first AVA.
Tom is visionary. Love this
An awesome live performance
This is the GOAT Tom
Self isolating due to corona virus,. watching AVA performances saved me from boredom..
I like your style
Same here. You in the Philippines?
Same!!
Hellz yeah.
toms hair style was really cool in this performance.
Yeah, Tom always knew the value of a cool haircut.
Just came from the +44 performance at Letterman
Wait wasn't that years ago?
+RmvEnt yeah I know
+ellielovesbands So how you're just coming from there
because first she watched the +44 video then she came to this, it's not that difficult
Se didn't say that
absolutely one of the definitive rock songs of the century. Possibly Tom's best ever song.
Agreed, some think "Heaven" is the best song Tom ever made, but to me The Adventure is better

Es zeigt sich für mich immer wieder das die geilsten Musiker oder Sänger kaum gecastet werden können.
I remember when I used to think that these were considered bad "Tom" vocals...
Yeah they get worse
@@IncrebileKageduh Not recently, he's really improved on the recent AVA tours

His name is Atom Willard, and he currently drums for the punk band Against Me! Check them out.

Great drumming, i was too young at the time to appreciate the drumming
