My Mamaw made the most amazing blackberry cobbler from fresh blackberries growing wild on their land. Always waiting on her buffet with lots of goodies as we drove in for a visit or staying the summer.
Found a snake behind a blackberry section I was picking from and was terrified after Bapop told me they climb up the center to avoid the thorns. I never realized they were waiting for birds! Mamaw knew I was terrified after that experience so I did other chores and didn't have to pick blackberries any more (they had fresh plums she made jelly out of). They also cut up your hands with their prickly thorns so it was very nice of your friend to pick them for you, Paula! 🙄
I was constantly attracting snakes, even a 6' bull snake cornered me in their yard. Bapop said he usually stayed in the barn across the road and kept the mice population down, but he killed him for coming so close to their back door in their fenced yard and being really aggressive. He looked like a cobra rearing up to me! 😨 I also encountered a water moccasin that slid up next to me from the pond while fishing, blue racer ran under my horse, and numerous rattlers (one in our outside trash can)!
Thank you for sharing memories, it reminds me so much of my own. I would risk snake encounters just to see my grandparents and parents again, and be in the kitchen with my Mamaw and Mama. 🙄❤⚘

Black raspberries are my #1 favorite. Picked them in the country w/parents, when I was a child, and now a thing of the past. Difficult to grow and prone to disease. Now I buy jams & jellies as it is impossible to find fresh. Good day to you!

Paula should have known better that streusel topping has to have butter mixed in to create that crumb topping. But, since she calls it strudel, which is something completely different, I guess not. Then she blames Theresa.
She is quite clueless most of the time. haha .... Her passive agressiveness must make her a real treat to work for too.
Nobody is perfect! All three do a great job and help other's with ideas on what to cook for their families.

If demo'ing a recipe, she should have at least read through it, or admitted she should have incorporated the butter with the streusel topping ingredients, instead of dotting with butter and saying nothing...she did neither. But she was quick to lay the blame on Theresa.
