    Quality satire and everything, but it does overlook the fact that on the UK's end of the agreement, we have to take in the "most vulnerable" members of Rwandas refugee community, so that bit about "the brown ones" doesn't really land when you realise we were still taking in refugees who would be, as it were, brown.

      It is *illegal* to enter the UK this way.

    • @TheMadTatter
      @TheMadTatter 2 года назад +1

      @@TheTwosliceToaster no, and neither do the predominately left-leaning media. On the one hand you've got government-inspired zealots hailing this as some sort of "victory for britain because we're getting rid of the illegals", and on the other hand you've got the media-inspired zealots who see it as some sort of humanitarian/racist outrage, when the fact is it's neither of those things.
      I think our governments (irrespective of left/right stance) have come to realise that the population is too lazy/trusting to actually go and read the ins and outs of any policy they make, so as long as there is something which will appeal to one side and make good headlines for the other, it will keep the population nice and polarised and too busy fighting amongst themselves to be bothered about the finer points of things.
      When the people are divided, the politicians always win.

    • @TheMadTatter
      @TheMadTatter 2 года назад

      @@bertrandrussell894 true, I guess I could give that a semi-pass though as it carries on that satirical tradition of "old racist conservatives" which comedy has played on for years from the likes of Ben Elton, Spitting Image etc
      I'm personally more bothered by the fact that nobody, not the government, not the opposition, not the media, not the satirists, not even that many of the online political commentators seem to be talking about this very underhanded and yet key part of this whole policy, everyone seems too swept up in either back-patting or righteous indignation to see that this agreement effectively leaves britain screwed either way.
      You let the illegals in, well then you've let illegals in who may potentially work but if they do will be highly unlikely to be putting any money back into the economy as it'll all either be sent to family back home or saved to bring family to the UK, or of course if they don't work then our good old money-for-nothing-unless-you've-worked-and-paid-tax-all-your-life-in-which-case-screw-you benefit system will look after them.
      Or, you deport the illegals and swap them with "refugees" from another country who are too old, sick or disabled to have any chance of ever working and putting anything back into the economy, but will be an undoubted burden on the health service and welfare system.
      Either way you look at it, whether you agree with the governments policy or not, the country is being sold-out

    European court of human rights does not even have enforcement powers on decisions. So all enforcement is entirely down to UK accepting the rulings as a valid decision on grounds of human rights.
    BTW the UK famously does not grant prisoners sufferage against the ruling Hirst vs UK. So the court acts as a lightning rod for the rabid reactions of cruel or ignorant people whenever they disagree with the ruling. These people place personal political beliefs and self interest above ethical behaviour more often than not.
    Enough of that though this is bloody good comedy.

    "...vulnerable people who are escaping persecution, pestilence and war." All of them have travelled through 3 to 6 EU countries and a treacherous Channel crossing. Just one question. Why didn't they stay in the first safe country? So, they are not refugees, they are economic migrants. I'm glad we cleared that up.

    • @garywalling4341
      @garywalling4341 2 года назад

      Yeah and..............as it was highlighted on question time the other night........... the majority of them are young(ish) apparently single men? Where are all the really vunerable ones. Let me guess hhmmmm..............waiting for thier partners/spouses to establish themselves in the only country left dumb enough to give them housing, benefits, healthcare etc. When that country (the UK) can't even handle the plight of it's own people. Stop them before they risk thier lives getting here, 'shut the gate before the horse bolts' not after which seems to be the trend with this particular government. It does go a lot deeper than this but here's a good starting line.

    • @1porter
      @1porter 2 года назад +2

      Most stay in the first safe country. There are all sorts of reasons (language, family etc.) as to why refugees seek asylum in the UK - something that is completely legal and the vast majority have their applications accepted. France and Germany take significantly more refugees than the UK does. But you probably already knew all that. Keep searching for reasons to justify your desire to treat people inhumanely.

    • @thomashardman7310
      @thomashardman7310 2 года назад +3

      @@1porter Then why haven't they come here through the proper legal channels? If they think they have a good case and have done nothing wrong then why not do it the right way - the correct way? These people will be housed in the poorest areas of the UK. These working class communites will have to suffer the consequences. Where is your pity for them or for the many thousands of our homeless who are unable to get a room in a 5 star hotel. How many will you put up in your house?

    • @1porter
      @1porter 2 года назад +1

      @@thomashardman7310 What proper channels are available? There aren't any, certainly nothing easily available. What consequences? Come on, tell us what scares you.
      You have been fed Farage bullshit about 5 star hotels. Most are put up in budget rooms. Asylum seekers actually lost their measly £40 a week allowance once the hotel system was put into use.
      And as for the strawman the far right think is some kind of gotcha about whether I, personally, would house refugees.... it's such a bogus argument it barely deserves addressing. It is not on individuals to sort the problem. Especially when we look at refugees coming in from Afghanistan, Syria and Libya - areas where the British government had direct involvement. Is it not our responsibility to shoulder at least some of the burden?

    • @wideawakerealist2141
      @wideawakerealist2141 Год назад +1

      @@1porter yes, Germany is definitely the golden ticket on the welfare shoppers list. The German public had a bit of a grumble about migrants from war torn countries popping back there for holidays, and Eritreans dodging military conscription in their own country, but yes the brotherly love from neighbouring countries of a very compatible culture towards that of the migrants is not very apparent ..but not to worry, climbing the fence in Morocco or hacking through the Greek border with generously supplied tools by Turkey( and producing videos of their kids crying after being held by daddy over smoking fires…” look at their tear stained poor little faces,let them through” beats going round and round on an NGO ship before Malta for, example, embraces the hordes of laughing young men setting fires to crops and busting up town centres en route to the processing centres. No one wants to stay where the benefits aren’t quite so generous, least of all in France where they’re left to sleep on the boulevards ….but hey, if not Germany, where clans are already established running districts without pesky police interfering …the U.K. looks good. And btw fake Syrian papers are doing very well. Who’ll notice your slight foreign accent when speaking Syrian dialect. Rwanda though, that’s not on….could try Israel…ah no, they’re not half as keen as their wholehearted support for non European migrants into Europe.
      All good though, because they’re all highly skilled and culturally enriching . What could possibly go wrong?
