so beautifull,my favorite song When my brother died he's wish was "if i die i want The Idol on my funeral" When i gonna meet my big brother i want Arena Of Pleasure on my funeral
Love W.A.S.P. and this album so much...Went to see them some years ago at Legends of Rock, along with Warlock. Warlock played first and W.A.S.P were the headliners. They played this.🤗 What an unforgettable Saturday night!
I remember seeing this video on Headbanger's Ball back when this album first came out as a young teenager. I used to record all my favorite bands on VHS . I still have all my VHS tapes which is around thirty. I was watching them a few years ago just to see what I had on them and this video was on one of them. I have always loved W.A S.P. since I first heard L.O.V.E. Machine back in the mid 80's as a little kid. I never had to worry about my parents knowing what I listened to as a little kid because they could barely speak English.
I could listen to Blackie kick a beer can down the street... it would still have more heart n soul than any of the computer corrected shit that is pumped out to masses these days. More than WASP fan... A Blackie Lawless fan.
Couldn't say it better myself :) The first time I started listening to that album I listened to it for months as well :D Still one of the best albums in the history of popular music!
1.Arena of Pleasure 2.The Idol (which was the favourite of my dead brother) 3.The Great misconceptions of Me (which was his second favourite) 4.The gypsy meet the boy My list gonna be huge sorry
The lead up to the solo is so damn epic, and the solo itself just has this feeling that its being attacked! Amazing song, its like the opposing side to Phantoms in the mirror.
Saw Wasp twice live , once at donnington loved the big stage presence but the other time at Preston guild hall on the crimson tour, much smaller arena, amazing and you could feel the emotions in the intimate hall. Wasp are amazing , good to remember these great times in music. I don’t think today’s generation will get the same feelings from modern music years down the line ,unfortunately.
Saw them 1 week ago in Manchester, great show, even though quite short, less than 1,5 hour. They played also this awesome song which is my favourite out of the Crimson Idol.
What's really deep about this song is it's basically telling you what the origin of a tragedy is...Love. And the Johnathan character searches for the feeling of his parent's love without really realizing that he's selling his soul to do it and being loved by millions of fans is not the same as the love of a father and mother.
I miss old Blackie, his voice and his will to make great music. When I heard W.A.S.P. for the first time my mind was blown away. It was a fire that couldn't be stopped, it motivated me in so many different ways. Not it's just a shadow of what they were.
I think that "The Crimson Idol" is one of the best W.A.S.P. albums ever. The 1st album will ALWAYS be their finest! "The Headless Children" and "The Last Command" are great as well. There really aren't any"bad" W.A.S.P. albums (imo!) but some aren't as great as others.
@@ljdsam - you are correct - definitely Doug Aldrich on the solo. I got the expanded version of the Crimson Idol about 20 years ago and he may be on more tracks than this one. Gotta go back and listen to it!
@@ljdsam Stet Howland confirmed Doug played on the album. According to Stet, if you pissed Blackie off, you wouldn't get credit for working on the album which happened to Doug.
Reidolized The crimson idol.. Amazing album by an awesome rock band.. Wasp been one of my favs for years.. Blackie lawless vocals are incredibly powerful.. Love it..
It's funny because I never was really a WASP fan but I liked certain songs. I remember when this album came out a guy I knew well at the time was in love with all things Blackie and I ended up really liking this album. It felt like blackie lawless had grown up a bit and I respected this album alot. Please no negative comments because I'm not being negative. WASP just wasn't my band when I was a kid.
I totally agree. But WASP was never played on the mainstream stations when I was a kid listening to this amazing band. I am forever grateful that I never excepted the mainstream as the be all and end all of available music. I still have my first original WASP albums on vinyl, all 6 of them, I no longer have a record player, I'll never throw them away. When they changed all music to CD, you lost some of the cover art, but picked up some amazing reading that Blackie always put in the CD cover slip
i'm a 46 yr old metal fan since my teen years.Never been a huge WASP fan but got sucked in via youtube as will happen.Anyways this pretty much fucking rocks!...impressed
Get the album if you don't have it,and listen to it from the beginning. This is a concept album, and saying that it is a master piece is just not enough to do it justice. This is a truly exceptional record.I think I listened to it for a couple months straight when it came out.Just couldn't get enough of it.Check it out.
yeah. surprisingly, in my area there's not even a rock/metal station (there's a classic rock station but you can only listen to queen and led zeppelin so much in a day) so what i've found is a good way for discovering good HEAVY METAL and things like that (besides surfing around on youtube) is to hit up the annual Mayhem Festival that goes around the country every year. there's always a ton of up and coming really solid metal acts that they take along with em every year.
Shit dont get better than this.. Concept album... This is better than Pink Floyd The Wall.. Blackie Lawless should be recognized as a artist and visionary and a master at Heavy Metal.. Love this shit..
Blackie once said that He like to do something that will stay for-ever and that's why He made Neon God...but I think He made mistake-may be simmilar within, and it is great like all WASP albums, but Neon God will never overthrone Crimson Idol....
"W.A.S.P. are not a heavy metal band, just a Punch And Judy show decorated with chains." This is What Slayer’s Kerry King COMMENTED on WASP.... is kerry king jealous bcos lawless is an amazing and a profound lyricist... he doesn't growl like tom araya but has more intensity and range in his singing plus his histrionics on stage are incredible.... it's like an erratic noisy metalhead degrading and maligning WASP... slayer can never do albums like crimson idol , headless children , dying for the world and last command plus there is music and melody in wasp's song with awesome solos and riffs....
+Musica_aeon I know this comment is a year old, but I feel I must reply nonetheless. If slayer's kerry king had done his homework, he would be grateful for Wasp. They paved the way for a LOT of bands in their long run in the music scene, and besides, they were so metal, they were once banned in Norway.
Every great band has an album which is considered their masterpiece and WASP's masterpiece is Crimson Idol. Apart from that, though, the band has produced a lot of fine records such as their debut, The Headless Children, Unholy Terror, The Neon God albums and Babylon! One thing is true about Blackie... He was never a part of the moneymaking system and I believe that every goddamn metalhead should respect that.
In early 70s, I read an article about ways parents would panish their children. They would keep a weekly record of all of their miss-doings, like spilling a milk. At the end of the week the father would tie up his kid stripped naked to the chair or like in this vid and beat his child accordingly to the number of his/her offenses. That time, I was a kid myself and I had found that disturbing and had wiped it out of my memory until seeing this video. It is awful what sense of power over other human being does to some ppl. Otherwise very cool vid and even cooler music.
What is depicted in this video isn't "discipline" it's outright torture. The only parents who did that sort of thing back then were the ones who shouldn't have had children to begin with, corporal punishment like spankings and "getting the strap/spoon" were considered to be normal forms of discipline and punishment so long as they weren't being done to inflict wanton pain or suffering on the child.
Brilliant song. Brilliant album. Blackie rules

The Crimson Idol is one of heavy metal's most relevant album ever
Honestly, it's relevant to all of the entertainment industry. They take advantage of insecure people and they use and abuse them.
