- A drunk squirrel was caught on camera struggling to stand after eating fermented pears left on a picnic table outside a house in Minnesota.
Footage taken last Friday, shows the woodland creature perched on a miniature picnic table outside a house in Inver Grove Heights.
The squirrel is spotted munching on corn and seeds when it suddenly gets a dazed, petrified look in its eyes and leans oddly to the side.
The tipsy animal uses the edge of the little blue bowl to suddenly catch its balance, but it begins to drift backwards again while staring into the sky.
After the strange episode, the creature eventually finds its way back to the bowl of food and continues eating.
The owner of the house, Kathleen Morlok, said the saga began when she cleaned out her refrigerator on Friday.
"I found a very old bag of pears in the bottom. Instead of throwing them away, I threw two onto our deck for Hamlet," Kathleen told DailyMail.com, referring to the family's pet pig.
"I did not realise that he left one under the table outside until I saw the little red squirrel happily grab the whole thing and run away with it into the trees."

I don't care what anyone thinks, it's hilarious😂😂 (ty for sharing) this made my day especially since I have a demon squirrel that reaps havoc in my small outdoor patio by knocking over my potted plants, plucking out my tiny scarecrows from my planters, eating it's prey in my patio leaving the poor baby birds remains behind my patio furniture, dishoveling my decor, getting into the hummingbirds bird bath, gnawing through my Christmas lights and other solar lights along the rail, pulling down on my curtains for privacy, and crapping under our furniture as well. Thank you for helping me solve my problem for my hubby and I. 😂😂

This happens to lots of critters. I’ve seen Evening Grosbeaks drunk from soft wood or Manitoba maple seeds, deer drunk on fermenting apples, a moose drunk from fermented apples … that one was scary! … Seems alcohol affects many animals besides the obvious! 🇨🇦🖖🏻🇨🇦

Animals, specially squirrels very oftenly eat fermented fruits. Usually crab apples though. Other animals do as well. Birds are even know for getting high off poppy fields. Using substances truly isnt just a human thing.
