My Chinook is a 2001. It has 130,000 wildly successful miles, is in nearly stock trim, w only minor & reversible mods. After 16 years of using it 6+ months of the year, I recently went full-time. I’m extremely happy with my Chinook and would seriously recommend it to others, and I am considering trading it out for the Chinook in this video. There is only other one contender for this Chinook in the running, and it fails in terms of: quality, features, outside storage, and (the all important) views out the windows. I’m the 3rd owner of my Chinook, it had 30k miles when I got it, and was very-very well maintained. I really thought that it was more RV than I needed.. and it was more than I needed for the first 3 years (compared to truck/ tent camping.) But I upgraded my life in several ways (dogs & sometimes GFs) and I got older too, and the Chinook has been most EXCELLENT, with no problems & only standard maintenance. My modest modifications to this EXCELLENT unit include: outdoor shower (just open rear hatch); solar on top; removing both back-rests from dinette & adding memory foam for a (reversible, but) non-converting full-sized “man sized” bed ; a 2 inch front receiver; colorful strings of lights throughout that run on AAA batteries for atmosphere & indirect lighting. Because the design and quality of the Chinook is so VERY high these modifications are simple, easy, low cost. And they are 100% reversible ((in case I change my usage and decide that I want a full dinette back in place of the small pop-up dinette I now use.)) Gents, when you choose your RV make sure that you can bring along your main toys, as well as the gear those toys need: helmets, safety gear and tools. And that is what my “2 inch front receiver” is all about. For years I got along great mounting my motorcycle and mtn bike off the back 2 inch receiver using the “ultimate MX hauler” but I recently decided make things more convenient by adding the front receiver. edit Thanks for the Video you guys, well done!! this is my fav winterized gas rv, glad it has the murphy bed with tv across, the other twin bed model has tv over the cab with dinette on the other side which has less isle space. Just needs a snap on insulated curtain going into the cab to retain inner heat as the front cab windows are not duel pane. Love the size of the rectangle sink in the bathroom as well, not one of those tiny round ones.
Hello, we include insulated front window shades to help with that. We could look at an additional curtain for you. Email us at info@chinookrv.com, and let's see what we can come up with. -Seth B
Also by laying sideways that could easily be twins by placing foam or something over the tiny crack between the shelves and the bed. That would make it yuge.
I love the quality of the Chinook! Do you have plans for a 2 Twin bed, separate dinette model, no slide in your B+ models? I dislike losing the dinette when pulling the bed down, plus in general, I dislike Murphy beds. For my sister and I, we need twin beds. Also stay with the AWD chassis rather than 2WD. I Boondock & offroad camp and very seldom am on a concrete pad when camping. Mostly in the grass back in the forest. AWD is necessary. Thanks!
A lot of RV manufacturers are putting way too much branding all over the vehicle. I prefer a cleaner look, solid color, no graphics, very little branding. Also, not showing exactly how to switch between dinette, sofa and bed modes was a huge fail. That's one of the most important things people need to see.

Excellent job on the systems chosen for power, heat, air, hot water, cooking, refrigeration. Those are all top notch & very efficient! Also great insulation, windows & four season feature. Well done! I would love to see a slide on the sofa/murphy bed though.
The cargo carrying capacity is very modest for a Class C rig, at just over 1000 lbs. A slide mechanism would severely degrade that already limited weight rating.
How long will the AC run with battery power only with a thermostat setting of say 76 degrees? Do you make one with a slide? Would like to be able to get around the bed to the cab area. Thanks
Hello, the A/C length on battery power is dependent on your location in the country. We do not offer a slide to maintain the 4 seasons rating. If a slide was installed, it could not be classified as 4 seasons. Thanks again
The Truma Aventa Air conditioning uses between 10.5 and 14 amps so less than the Dometic Penguin II which uses 18 amps. So the truma allows other devices to run. The consumption is between 1260Wh (10.5 x 120v) to 1680wh to cool down the rv. From the truma doc. And the heating systems uses 0.18GPH at max settings and 65w during 100 sec to start then it uses 45wh. You can complement the gasoline heating by the 5000 btu 120V heating integrated which would give you a total of 22000 btu (17000 + 5000). In the summer you can activate the gasoline heating only for the water and saving on the fuel., the hydronic systems with fuel gasoline must be used to heat the water. The 5000 btu 120v complement is not enough to heat water. All of these comes from the Elwell doc and Truma docs. Here are what i know
Interesting design. I'd prefer to have the bench space all one continuous piece rather than having the lower cushion sections bed is big enough, I'd prefer the extra counter space. Would love to see a video of how the bed/sofa/dinette transforms. I've searched other videos on RUclips and haven't found any showing how long it takes to convert
What size is the bed please? Didn't see this model on your website and was unable find a floor plan anywhere in the internet. Is the interior height room still 6'3"? (we are tall 6'+ each and would hit our heads walking with such a low ceiling height so was hopeful it had increased. Thanks.
What's the CCC? Sorry if i missed it. Just my opinion, the walnut cabinets are very pretty, but I think the super light choice of fabrics for the dinette and sofa is a miss. I'd go darker, from a practical standpoint. It is still camping after all, with all the dirt and mess that does with it. And the fireplace and tv takes up a lot of valuable real estate with the storage and the weird multi level cushions on top of cabinets on either side. Lots of potential but not sure it all makes sense in reality.
Hello, thank you for commenting. Dry weight is about 9700 pounds. gvwr is 11,000. You have to add two occupants and a full tank of water for ccc. After those items, about 800 pounds left for misc items. The fireplace is an option, and the top cushions are removeable. Storage can be put in. Lastly, we have different color options we can offer if you don't like the white sofa. Have a great evening!
@@chinookmotorcoachif you provide 1300lbs with the full gas tank included i think it is very good. I have a utility trailer that can hold 3000lbs of cargo so 1300 is plenty for two petsons and a dog. And i would never fill the full fresh water tanks for the trip, but instead would bring bottle of water in my trailer, if your rv has a gravity fill for the water. I would put only 60 lbs in the tank. So 1300 is impressive to me in a transit chassis.
Good Afternoon Bill, Yes it can. There are straps on the bed that hold it in place. You'd use those same straps over your bedding. May not hold pillows, but blankets/ sheets, yes. Thanks for commenting, and Happy Holidays!
Everything is perfect, but I really think that bed needs to be in a slide out. You can use it with or with out, but there needs to be a slide out. Just too cramped for me. 🙂

I’m glad to see the resurrected Chinook RV brand appearing to prosper under new ownership! I see a lot of thoughtful design implementation here that makes for an attractive offering in the Class C category. I do wonder if the aluminum skin and structural frame construction are optimally sized with this material choice …as the CCC is unusually limited for this class of RV, which is also a narrower departure from typical cutaway rigs @ 8’ of exterior width. The engineering emphasis on enclosed tanks/plumbing additional insulation & 4 season HVAC performance may have influenced reduced living space dimensions and impact overall CCC. Adjustable locking cabinet latches would be a welcome addition, as I occasionally have to fix those within my 23’ Coach House Platinum TB 220. I’d like to see Chinook expand their chassis offerings to include Ford’s venerable E-450 platform, which allows a massively increased OCCC. The E-450 chassis would easily support the expansive slide-outs frequently requested by commenters here, while also allowing for a swiveling passenger seat, making the interior feel less confining. A partitioned twin bed layout for a dual-zone living space would broaden prospective consumer appeal Lots of potential for capturing increased Class C market share here. Keep up the good work!
Chinook does not add any slide out to make the rv a four season certified by Truma. And it adds a lot of weight. Occc is very important especially in the sprinter. The E-450 has an inferior mpg.
Hello, thank you for commenting. Yes, when other manufacturers cut out the cab, it takes away structural strength for the whole chassis. They typically put a fiberglass box ontop, in event of a severe enough accident, the cab could cave in on you. By not cutting, it's structurely stronger and protects you. Thanks again
Hello, thanks for commenting. We've received a few suggestions for a rear awning. That, and your suggestion for a double induction burner will be sent in. Your feedback is important. Thanks again.
You should associate with a dealer of luxury vans like Horizons Lussier in Montreal area, to provide your nice Chinook Maverick, Summit and BaySide in Canada. You would sell them like french hot bread. I went at the Ottawa RV show last week and there were a lot of persons at Horizons Lussier for the LTV Unity. But none of them have your electrical high end electrical systems and rear door design. You would be unique. I think you should extend to Canada market in Montreal and Ottawa. Currently to buy a Chinook in Canada is not easy i am not even sure if someone have already certified it.
Hello, thanks for commenting. To enter the Canada market, we need a special chassis. Until then, we can not enter the market. Give us a email at info@chinookrv.com, and we may still be able to deliver you a Chinook RV. Thanks again.
Does the fuel and engine fluid are included in the dry weight. Some manufacturers does some don’t. So do you have 11000-9780 = 1220 lbs for passengers, their cargo and the water? If it is that, it is really impressive. Does the weight of the fire place included in the dry weight? Do you provide 4 external panel of 120w Expion included in the package or is it an option? Can you show the electrical system and the Elwell System certainly under the sofa and bed? Do you have a way to go on the roof, ( portable ladder ), or a ladder point where a ladder can be set ? Is the fireplace standard in the maverick ev360 with lithium, or is it an option and in this case how much weight does it add? Do you have an hdmi switch to connect multiple device to the tv in the televator. ? The Summit seems to have a jbl audio system with Subwoofer under the bed. why not in the maverick which have only a portable speaker?
If you’re taking suggestions… many of us work remotely, and some way to incorporate a desk would be helpful. For example; a larger pop up TV, and some way to put a pull out table or swing the TV to the table would be perfect! 😊
would rather have the bed above cab for guest or quick nap and leave sofa or dinette up cause no room with bed down....too confined for two....need awning on back for sure

We (Alaska) gets a lot colder than 5° in the winter time. With that said, some of these features I really like. Don’t particularly like propane or dealing with it. I don’t suppose you have a stove that’s electric. I really like the shower and the sink.. I wouldn’t use the Murphy bed, I probably just throw a comforter and a pillow on the cushions behind the seats. Perfect for just one.
Hello Bill, thanks for commenting. I'm sure we can look into something like that for you. Give us an email at info@chinookrv.com, and we'll look into options. Have a great evening! -Seth B
Looks very nice. Personally, I'm not a fan of Murphy beds as they make the space inside very narrow and block off the entire window on the one side. This same layout in the new Promaster with the Super High roof and a bed that raises into the ceiling would be perfect for me. No compromises and much more interior space and light and cooling crosswind.
Do you have 1100 lbs cargo on the yellow sticker? Or is it something limited like 700? We need minimum 1100lbs. With our small 4x6 enclosed trailer i can put 3000lbs of stuff. But we need 1100 for two people and one dog, the food the kitchen tools, the electronics devices and a little water for the road, then we can detach the trailer on the campground to get back the 130 lbs on the tongue for more water in the tanks. In the trailer we can put jerricans gas, water bottles all the camping chairs table, 12v portable fridge, solar panel, bag of clothes, tyres for the rv and trailer, all the heavy stuff can go in the trailer which serves as a safe as well in the campground.
Hello, The Maverick is about 9700lbs Dry. Now, after 2 occupants, tank of water, you have about 750- 800 lbs average left. Travel without water, and you gain a little more. Thanks for commenting. Email us at Info@chinookrv.com for more info!
So, I'm hesitant to make this comment because there's enough kinda "negative" ones. Firstly, I love this one. It's a definite contender. It checks off most of my boxes. But the bed. I know a lot of people like Murphy beds, but I never have. It takes up too much window view space, and in this specific case, no ability for cross ventilation. Why do American manufacturers not take advantage of the roof space? Wingamm that just came to the US, has a super easy, non-electric pulldown bed. Perfect for small units. I would love to see an elevator bed. Question: Will Chinook add lifts for a better off-roading experience, if requested? Not an overlander of course, just wanting better clearance in those off-grid experiences. Thank you so much for your video! Great content.
Hello, thank you for commenting. I have seen the European model you're referring to, definitely a nice product. I'm not sure as to why others don't do something similar. I appreciate your feedback on the lack of window when the bed is up. We do have a vent mid motorhome that can surely bring in some air with the p/s window is open. As far as the lift, I'm sure we can help with that. Shoot us an email at info@chinookrv.com, and we'll review options. Thanks again for commenting. -Seth B

I absolutely love everything about this coach except the dinette EB. I would much prefer a quality jackknife sofa so the window would be useful and would let in more air and natural light. What is the need of having a window if not useful. I really don’t like dinettes. Nice TV trays are easy to store if eating inside. And, people eat outside when camping.
I would prefer twin beds. I don't want to crawl over someone to go to the bathroom at night. I'm glad there's no slideout. A lot of good storage and love you can remove induction cooktop for outside. TV could go back on the wall. How much fresh water on board?

@@chinookmotorcoachthis is impressive on a transit with the very good electrical systems. It is probably due to no slide, no gen, and no propane, which is excellent. Do you export in Canada?
Hello, for all 21 temperature sensors, yes. The test consists of the coach sitting overnight in a 5 degree chamber with windows and doors open. Then, when they conduct the test, they shut the doors and windows and proceed to turn on the heat. For gold, you have to get the 21 sensors at 65 in under 4 hours. We did it in just over 3. There are a handful of any other coaches that have achieved this rating. Thanks for commenting, and have a Happy Holidays!
I really like this but it's a no go for me there's no bed over the cabin. Am thinking about doing this full-time. Me n my 7 year old will be full-time n my 14 n 15 is when they want too so am looking for a small one but also big enough for my teenagers n this jus not it.
You should consider a Vegas 24.1. they are the same length, and the fixed rear bed can be two singles that expand into a king size bed. the sofa breaks down to a bed, just right for a seven-year-old. There is also a dropdown bunk in the front cab, that will hold a teenager. the chassis is the same as the Chinook, too. There is plenty of walk around room. The bath expands into a huge changing room and bathroom. And its fully functional with both doors closed, too! Just puttin it out there...

Hello, thanks for commenting. If a slide was installed, it could not be classified as 4 seasons. Thanks again.
Here are what i know
I would agree an awning for the back or an overall batwing awning would be a plus.
Thanks for your feedback!
Love it!
Rear door aluminum siding 3.5 V6 gasoline engine now for a test drive
Thanks.
Hello, thanks for commenting. The bed size is 56 x 74. Yes, interior height is still 6'3". Thanks again.
I like the rear entrance however if its raining your going to have to go in and out in the rain?
Hello, we've now seen a few suggestions for an awning in the rear. It's being brought up to our team. Thanks for the feedback.
I hear you. I would not want all that white / beige upholstery in a vehicle meant to travel beyond a showroom.
Hey Seth , can I add a lift kit to this rv safely ?
Hello , still would like to know .. since this rv has ride enhancing and leveling I was just curious if a 2 or 3 inch lift could be done aftermarket?
Can the bed fold away with sheets, blankets, etc. still in place?
Good Afternoon Bill, Yes it can. There are straps on the bed that hold it in place. You'd use those same straps over your bedding. May not hold pillows, but blankets/ sheets, yes. Thanks for commenting, and Happy Holidays!
Everything is perfect, but I really think that bed needs to be in a slide out. You can use it with or with out, but there needs to be a slide out. Just too cramped for me. 🙂
Hello, thanks for commenting. We do not offer a slide to maintain the 4 seasons rating. If a slide was installed, it could not be classified as 4 seasons. Thanks again
A partitioned twin bed layout for a dual-zone living space would broaden prospective consumer appeal
Lots of potential for capturing increased Class C market share here. Keep up the good work!
Hello, thank you for commenting. We appreciate your feedback, and we will send your suggestions to management. Have a good one!
Chinook does not add any slide out to make the rv a four season certified by Truma. And it adds a lot of weight. Occc is very important especially in the sprinter. The E-450 has an inferior mpg.
Would you please explain how not opening up the area above the cab makes it safer? Also, do the front seats swivel?
Less wind resistance and better visibility.
Thanks again
looks good! but single burner stove top and no awning over the entrance is a deal breaker to me.
Very interesting! Are there plans, or is it optional to add an awning in the back over the door?
If you’re taking suggestions… many of us work remotely, and some way to incorporate a desk would be helpful. For example; a larger pop up TV, and some way to put a pull out table or swing the TV to the table would be perfect! 😊
Hello, thank you for commenting. We will turn in your suggestions to our team. Have a great evening!
would rather have the bed above cab for guest or quick nap and leave sofa or dinette up cause no room with bed down....too confined for two....need awning on back for sure
Thanks for your feedback!
what are the measurements...tip to tip ...height outside and inside ...it would be helpful if you added in all the specs....thx
Hello, thanks for commenting. The Maverick is 24' 5" long, 88" wide, and 10' 6" tall. Feel free to email info@chinookrv.com for more info. Thanks again.
You hooked me on this. Get it?
Hello, we are glad you like this. If you have any questions, feel free to email info@chinookrv.com.
can you install the digital rearview mirror on this package?
I'd like to see that "batman" style awning on this RV. Will you be at the Tampa RV Show this month?
Hello, thanks for commenting. We are here at Tampa, we gained very last-minute space by intech & heartland. Have a great evening.
@@chinookmotorcoach I was there. It's impressive but too small and too pricey.
-Seth B
Do yall have a seller in San Antonio, Texas???
Hello, unfortunately not yet. The closest dealer to you is Leisure RV Center in the Houston area. Email us at info@chinookrv.com for more information on ordering an Eddie-Bed. -Seth B
Very nice
Thank you for commenting. We appreciate your feedback. Have a happy holiday!
i love it
Thanks for your feedback!
WOW!
Thank you!
Wish you had shown how to set up the full bed.
Where are the testimonials from happy campers?
I like this rv a lot. Do you offer any options on the toilet, a dry flush or incinerator style toilet ? Great video. Thank you.
Could i have an aftermarket 2 or 3 inch lift kit installed on this rv ?
I would prefer twin beds. I don't want to crawl over someone to go to the bathroom at night. I'm glad there's no slideout. A lot of good storage and love you can remove induction cooktop for outside. TV could go back on the wall. How much fresh water on board?
is there an air conditioner or fans?
Hello, Yes, we have the Truma Aventa A/C that is ducted. There is a fan in the bathroom and in the kitchen as well. Thank you for commenting. Have a Happy Holidays!
What kinda V6? Does it have azdale walls?
Hello, thanks for commenting. Ecoboost 3.5L twin turbo v6 w/ 10 speed transmission. No, Azdale. Padded vinyl wrapped luan, bonded and sanded into one piece then wrapped. Email info@chinookrv.com for more info. Thanks again.
Nice but definitely needs a gear garage.
Hello, thank you for commenting. It's hard to do with a Rear-Entry. Email us at info@chinookrv.com and I'll add you to our newsletter. Be on the lookout for future floorplans. Have a great evening!
Would not trust all battery. I understand that the lithium don’t like to be cold and won’t charge.?
Hello, thanks for commenting. You are correct. We put our lithium batteries inside the coach to maintain temp. We offer lithium & non-lithium models. Additionally, for your safety, we install a Thermal Protection system standard.
What’s the OCCC?
Hello, thank you for commenting. Dry weight is about 9700 pounds. gvwr is 11,000. You have to add two occupants and a full tank of water for ccc. After those items, about 800 pounds left for misc items. Have a great evening.
Awesome B-van. What is the carrying capacity(CCC)?
Hello, thank you for commenting. Dry weight is about 9700 pounds. gvwr is 11,000. You have to add two occupants and a full tank of water for ccc. After those items, about 800 pounds left for misc items. Have a great evening.
@@chinookmotorcoachthis is impressive on a transit with the very good electrical systems. It is probably due to no slide, no gen, and no propane, which is excellent. Do you export in Canada?
If you could find a way to raise the height of the murphy bed so that you can use both bedding at the same time! My money will be coming your way.
Hello, thanks for the feedback. We'll submit that to our team. Have a great evening.
it took 3 hours to heat the inside to 65 degrees?
Low wattage iff batrres
Hello, for all 21 temperature sensors, yes. The test consists of the coach sitting overnight in a 5 degree chamber with windows and doors open. Then, when they conduct the test, they shut the doors and windows and proceed to turn on the heat. For gold, you have to get the 21 sensors at 65 in under 4 hours. We did it in just over 3. There are a handful of any other coaches that have achieved this rating. Thanks for commenting, and have a Happy Holidays!
How do i carry my bicycles?
Hitch
@@DonaldKelsey Thank u so much
Hello, thanks for sharing!
no gen definitely increases cargo capacity
Wrong
Hello, thanks for commenting. Yes and no. Depends on other items added, for example, a lot of solar and additional storage. There is not much difference in our base & 360 models. Have a great evening.
I would rather have more storage and more than one burner than to have a tv, fireplace, and the seating beside them.
Hello, thanks for commenting. We appreciate the feedback, we can delete the fireplace and tv if desired for additional storage. Email us at info@chinookrv.com for more information. Thanks again.
The coachman cross trail or trek 20xg puts this thing to shame. For 136K out of Texas , it’s a palace compared to this tight alleyway for nearly twice the price. People need to do there research, for a quarter mil, I’ll buy a class A with room to move, coffins have more room than this .
what is the CCC???
Hello, thanks for commenting. Dry weight is about 9700lbs, after 2 occupants and water, you have a 750 to 800 lbs capacity left. Email us at info@chinookrv.com for more information. Have a great evening!
