Wow, can we just appreciate just how good Arulmozhi's character is? He is the only one in the story who isn't obsessed with love or power and makes some of the best decisions throughout the course of the story. Unlike his father or brother, he did not let love blind his judgement and was not as cruel as his sister. Unlike Maduranthakan he was not power hungry and was not easily deceivable as pazhuvettaraiyars. He is'nt called RAJA RAJA without a reason.
What a great comment! I would add that Arulmozhi actually does act out of love (he saves Vandiyadevan, he gives away his location to the assassins to save the monastery, he gives up his throne to save the kingdom) it’s not selfish love or desire (like Aditha Karikalan’s for Nandini.)
Kalki has written Arunmozhi with characteristics as perfect as written in the Rajya Shastra... He has a personality of a perfect king... But there is one thing that elevates him even further.. He doesn't want to be king!. He sacrifices two crowns.. One which was given to him becoz of his conquete (Sri Lanka) and the other through inheritance (Chola crown) ... that is what makes him Raja Rajeshwar "The king of kings" We will never know how this great emperor was in reality... But I would love to believe that he was how Kalki wrote him... And how Jayam Ravi played him (Also Sivaji Ganesan... That portrayal was amazing too)
He gave up chola crown for his uncle though people wanted him to be king..that is captured in thiruvalangadu inscriptions.
@@geetadhumane5793 Sivaji's portrayal was great, with his world class acting and powerful charisma but it was very different from Jayam Ravi's portrayal. The movie rarely gave hints on why Raja Raja was so great and respected among the other rulers. It focused more on his fierce side. PS-2 really gave us the in depth reasoning for how he is THE best tamil king.

The Love of kundavai towards vanthiya devan, karikalan towards Nandhini, vanathi towards arul mozhi, punguzhali towards arul mozhi, senthan amuthan towards punguzhali and last but not least manimekalai ( with pure heart) towards vanthiya devan are pure, perfect and well portrayed in book.
But these loves are not picturized enough in movie

@@geetadhumane5793 yeah , Initially when this song released my dumb mind couldn't get it, but when i kept listening to it , this one became my favorite mainly due to the lyrics and the voices and the sounds, the purity of the language and its literature damn! Sobhita's expressions,dance movements and so on, the chemistry, her innocence. You don't need to always talk to express things, Gold is gold wherever it is, that's what i felt when seeing Vaanathi.

i feel that this movie does injustice with arunmozhi
firstly the name is ponniyin selvan but vanthiyathevan gets more screentime,well thats also fine,as the novel itself begins the way that vanthiyathevan introduces us to all the major characters
but then again they emphasised to nandinial nd adityas story a way more than required
first ten monutes of the movie PS2 could have been shortened and should have been given this time time arunmozhi and vaanathi
also the movie is ponniyin selvan but don't have a single full fledged song for him

I have a reservation. This brilliant song has been (mis)used. This song's video and lyrical video are telling that song is all about Ponniyan Selvan i.e. Jayam Ravi's character while in movie it was actually picturised upon younger Karikakan i.e. Vikram's character.
It is actually injustics to Jayam Ravi.
Maniratnam could have avoided this temptation of using Vikram's star power. In this movie, characters are much important rather than stars.
