90's UK TV Adverts - Late Night Chat Line Ads

- Another compilation of old ads for you. Pulled from VHS tapes lying in the depths of a cupboard somewhere. This time it's a compilation of those garish and tacky adverts for chat lines which were aired constantly during ad breaks in the middle of the night. They aired through the 90's and early 00's and were obviously before online dating or friend sites were a thing. They were something of a phenomenon at the time though, who can forget that Father Ted spoof "Priest Chat"!
I do actually wonder if anyone rang these and what happened and if anyone did actually meet someone off one. I also wonder who were the people who featured in these ads!

I lived in a children's home in the late 90's and a staff bedroom got changed into a young person's bedroom and the phone socket was still live. The young person who moved into that bedroom got a cordless phone plugged it in and rang these hotlines up and ran up a phone bill of 2 grand. Haha

Hahaha, used to go to my mate's house and we'd ring these up for fun and ran up a similar bill. Memories!

Thank you for posting these. I had no idea they scraped the chatback barrel once the Internet had taken over and 75p a minute! Also, if Tittle Tattle got a single call i'm quite disappointed in the world.

I used to record a lot of American sport back when Channels 4 and 5 broadcast it overnight, every ad break was full of this stuff.
They're not as good as Priest Chatback.

I remember seeing the Chatback 0891 50 50 50 one along with a few of these but being a kid at the time I never called them.

It was a good laugh, took a while to get used to listening to other people’s messages while listening to your own and replying at the same time. Had a few regular people who called and I actually met my husband on there ahahah he spent a fortune before we met up and I finally admitted I worked for the company

Nope. 'Fraid not. Most of these were recorded in about 1993/1994. My father used to record a lot of late night music programmes which is where those ads come from.The last few are about 1998-2000-ish.
