  • This flight was supposed to be a boeing 757-200, but because of how many oversold tickets, the bumped us into a boeing 767-200.

Great to see other heavy metal in Orlando other than the international flights and occasional Delta flights. Great video, I definitely subscribed!

Some of this is FAA stuff they are required to land (force down) above stall speed in case need to go around.

There really shouldn't be a huge difference though, the cockpits are identical plus the 57 is just a skinnier and a little bit shorter then the 67. but very true that they made it to disney lol

how and where did you get the map at the beginning of the video? i would love to do that!!!!

Yeah they came in a bit fast. However sometimes the winds change so they may have to land from the opposite direction. This may have been the last landing from this side for the time being until the winds change again.

Although very identical cockpit layouts (minus the ADP on the 757) because of the wing designs, at the flare they behave differently. Because both aircraft operate on the same type rating, it's common for crews to switch over depending on the bids. I rode lots of jumpseats with crews moving from one type to another, and landings were "firm" at times but good nonetheless. This was a good landing, though. 757/767 are both wonderful aircraft. Wow, I saw my old apartment. Good video, tnx.

They should have used this plane for the Phoenix - Philly route.

think about how hard it would be to actually land an airplane

US airways uses either a 737, 757, 767, or an a321 on their 1020 route to Orlando. It was originally a 757 but changed the night before.

How did u like that plane?

  • @openseas11

Yeah a slower approach would have prevented that. But overall, good landing

Looks like he flared too much, leveled it off about 10 feet above the runway, then took the power off too high above the ground and planted it down hard.
Given the fact that the aircraft was switched from a 757 to a 767 at the last minute, I bet he (or she) wasn't used to flying the '67. Pilots can be certified to fly both aircraft because they share a common flight deck. I don't think US flies the 767 domestic very often so those pilots were probably in the 757 almost exclusively.

It's not as hard as you think. I'm 15 and can land little planes easy and they bounce ALOT! But I dunno with a commercial plane im not gonna try at 15 😉

any landing is good when you can walk away from it.

+cruiseshiplego : harder than you think. But, if you still think it's easy, please feel free to try it on Flight Simulator, where nobody and nothing will be risked. Aloha.

This is what happends when the pilot comes down and try's to float land but take to long so he brings it down a little more to fast and bounces. Not to easy with a huge planes to float land softly especially when it's heavey. But I've been on alot of flights and float landing softly is been done alot and those pilots were oustanding.

The pilots were just learning the difference of flying a 767 and not the 757. LOL oh well no one died everyone made it to disney world in one piece.

I'm surprised they would take a 767 to go from Philly to Orlando. Typically when I fly to florida I go from Newark to Tampa in a 737. Im actually going down again in about a month and I'm taking the 737-900

Disney World (and the other parks) command a lot of seats. Before 2020, US/AA was flying A330s between CLT-MCO.

Fast approach, too much airspeed to flare so they came in flat, then BOUNCE!

@MrMjd245 I would say turbulence, although i do remember that on after takeoff, the main gear really wasn't that smooth going in, so it could have been the gear

This is nothing. It's either dead-air or a very-light tailwind, possibly quartering. And it's not 'very fast', it's just a touch faster to compensate for the probable no-headwind. A plane needs _some_ headwind to bring its groundspeed down and preserve a little lift so as not to just possibly drop out of the sky.
The worst landing I've been on was June '09 arriving in Phoenix, when our United A320 approached on 25R and, just before touchdown, a hard-left cross-gust pushed the plane far enough to the right, whereas the right main touched down on dirt. Looking down between the right engine and fuselage, there was only dirt, no runway; we had to make our way over, taking out some runway lights in the process.

Working off visual references I get 137 kt (158 mph) groundspeed. Depending on the temperature there this would be 133-137 kt IAS. Not really a fast landing at all. If you want to see fast, search for the TACA 767 and A320.

He's descending too fast which leads he's going to land too fast especially when your on final.
