    My Pillow Mattress Topper works the best I’ve tried

    Hey Kevin, have you added one of those small inflators? One less thing to deal with instead of the bags. I’ve been using these and wanted to try the stock ones to maybe cut some time, but they are so bad for side sleepers. Going back to your setup. I will take your advice and only use one when I’m solo.

      Honestly I haven't mostly because I'm in the stage where I'm trying to keep things as simple as possible. Currently I just try and open my tent first thing when I get to camp to allow them time to self inflate.

      @@RhinoOffroad I hear ya I’m trying to keep things as simple too. I’m going to try to find an inflator that will also deflate then it might be worth the extra effort. I’ll let you know if I find something that works.

    Excellent follow-up. I went ahead and purchased the QOMOTOP based on the strength of your first review along with a few others. I just had another vinyl air mattress fail within the year, and I wanted to get off that merry-go-round. I'm hoping the self-inflating mattresses will make more sense for my needs. Thank you for the candid reviews!

  • @LarryShort

    I got two Qomotops with my new Camp365 last May. I agree, they are quite comfortable. But in my most recent coast-to-coast trip, camping about a dozen times there and back, I noticed toward the end that both were losing inflation during the night. I mouth-inflated them to my comfort level at the beginning of the night, but by the end they were too soft. So they must have a slow leak somewhere. Any thoughts on how to address this?

    Thinking about getting the single to use in the back of my truck. Problem is it's 6 inches too long so I'm wondering if it will bend easily? So basically just scrunch it up at one end.

  • @wlittleman
    @wlittleman Год назад +1

    I've had the QOMOTOP for over a year, and it was definitely one of the best purchases I've made for camping in the iKamper. I sleep so well now, and I never thought I'd ever find the comfort afforded by a camping mattress. I also experienced the slow self-inflation while the mattress is inside the iKamper. It places some pressure on the shell, but not enough to cause any damage. The other thing I suggest is only buying the single large QOMOTOP, and just use the oem pad for the portion that supports the legs. I found that I only need the 4" pad for my head, shoulder, torso, and hips. My legs don't need the extra padding. It'll make the tent setup and breakdown a tad quicker and save you from having to buy the 2nd smaller QOMOTOP pad.

    • @RhinoOffroad
      @RhinoOffroad  Год назад

      Yeah that's honestly not a bad call on going with just the big one. The only benefit of having both is increased room to keep bedding in the shell, but I could see it both ways.
      I've definitely noticed the slow inflation myself. It's definitely become a bit of a nuisance. I think I'll do a follow up video soon with my thoughts on it.

  • @johalun
    @johalun 3 года назад +2

    Thanks for a great review. I'll definitely will get this setup. As you say, the extra time spent to inflate/deflate is what you otherwise would spend moving bedding up and down from the truck + you get extra free space in the car since you can store more in the tent.

When I inflate it, it only holds the air for no more than 20min long. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it possible to get a replacement?

  • @twistbeard
    @twistbeard 3 года назад

    Hey man, not sure if you'll see this or reply but I did have a question/clarification. I ended up purchasing these Mattresses based on your original video after a few trips in the Ikamper, my wife had the same side sleeping issue yours did. We are going on another overlanding trip this coming week and will be using these for the first time (used them in the house, they feel amazing) You said previously that you leave the Mattresses in the Ikamper, do you leave them stored in there 100% of the time or do you take them out and store them after trips? I'd prefer to keep them stored in mine, but I don't want them to get destroyed by the heat if they aren't able to actually stay in there. Figured you'd be able to speak to the durable-ness of them in this regard or clarify if you take them out eventually. Much appreciated!

    Thanks for the two videos reviewing this mattress pad, very well done. I have been looking for an option for the past 2 seasons with the iKamper. I couldn't bring myself to spend the money on the other mattresses out there. The Qomotop seems to be the perfect option, especially after seeing your review, with a good price point. I've seen some put some kind of gym foam mats with holes in them between the aluminum and the mattress to reduce condensation. I got some of those without holes so I'm just gonna drill 1" holes in through them and put under the mattress.

    Appreciate the hell out of this video! Swapping to an iKamper soon and I don't want the same issue I had with my last RTT with the thin mattress.
    My only question for you is does it feel super "air mattressy", like with 4inches of inflation I worry it might feel like one of those old fully inflatable mattresses that have no padding in them you'd get at like Walmart. I've had camping pads for years but they don't inflate much more than like and inch and a half so it's mostly the foam you feel. Like when you move does it really push up the other side a ton or is it more similar to a regular mattress? Does any of that even make sense? I'm not sure, lol.

    • @RhinoOffroad
      @RhinoOffroad  2 года назад +2

      Definitely makes sense, and doesn't really feel like an air mattress. It has a ton of padding with cells that basically expand as it inflates. Feels way more like a mattress topper
