- This is a sad week in our newsroom. We're saying goodbye to good friends and colleagues who are getting ready to retire. We're celebrating Rod Meloni, who started at WDIV in 1995, and over the past 29 years, some of the most important stories in Detroit and Michigan have landed in his gifted hands.
Been watching you for all of them, Rod. Always liked your reporting. Thanks for the decades of our community.

I'll give you a scoop about that. Here it goes. There was a Scripps Executive [7's owners] who wanted to get rid of high salary talent for younger and cheaper talent. That Executive ended up leaving Scripps and got a job at Graham Media 4's owners...He set out to do the same thing with Graham stations...talk about irony.

So they're basically forcing him and I don't know if it's going to be Kevin deeds they don't want to pay them the high salary any longer ride is a wonderful 💎💯🎉 I wish they could have allowed him to retire at the new year as opposed to June he will be so missed we love him. 📰📺📽️🥰💯‼️
Why are so many suddenly leaving WDIV?
Gonna miss you rod you where my favorite have a great retirement I meet you 2 times both times you where standing outside fords plant right in front of the turnstiles as the workers where walking in and you where about to do your story I yelled to you every time “ hey rod am I getting laid off ?”
