  • Hey guys, this episode is about our dramatic unberthing operation from the narrow port of Fujairah. Professionalism and experience from the Pilot, the Captain, ship’s crew and the port personnel is needed for a safe exit of our ship. Check it out and enjoy guys.

Usually how many hours are going to spend on anchoring a vessel (such as a handymax) at the anchorage? Approximately how many hours are required to moore a handymax all fast upon berthing alongside? Thanks.

I have no experience in handy max, my vessels are bigger like Panamax and capesize , under normal condition on our ship let’s say 1 hour more or less depending on the Captain.

Many years ago, the company which I worked for shipped cargoes from this port. However this is the first time I see the port. By the way, why often does a large cruise (lets say 20/30,000 dwt tonnage) not require tugboat assistance to berth or unberth a port? Thanks.

It’s because they have the most advance technologies and Equipment including thrusters that can safely maneuver inside the port.

If in accordance with the port regulations, the pilotage is compulsory, Does the cruise have to hire pilotage instead of berthing herself independently by thruster? Thanks.

Well, you always have to follow the port regulations so whatever they say just do it.

Is the pilot going to leave the ship only after all mooring lines are fastened? Thanks.

@Concordocean, yes, after they see that the ship is secure then they will leave.
