Raven was really one of the cutest and smartest young actresses. I knew she was talented beyond her years on the classics The Cosby Show and Hangin' with Mr. Cooper.
Raven is definitely an legend and her flowers are well deserved. We were really being extra/tripping about her stating she is American not African American. 😂😂😂
I can't find the source so please don't quote me on this. But Raven said in an interview that since she was a kid, she was told that it's easier for everyone to say "Sem-Mone" instead of "See-mon-yee" (she was most likely told by her parents). So it could go hand in hand with what (black) people were told back then about their names and how it needs to be "presentable". IMO, In the same way she said, "I'm not gonna hire anyone named Watermelondria", it was probably because no one was going to hire her if she was "See-mon-yee". Again, I don't recall where I saw this interview but I did watch A LOT of them lol
I remember going to the Hanging with Mr. Cooper taping when I was a kid, I was impressed with her maturity back then, and her song hip hop teddy bear was stuck in my head for years. I didn't like her comment about not bring African American, but she will always be a legend in my book.
I really enjoyed watching her on the screen growing up. Her “label” comment didn’t bother me, but I do think it was a contradiction. She said she didn’t like being labeled but want to be called an American (which is still a label).
August 15th 2003 was a good day The Cheetah Girls premiered on the Disney Channel the same day Uptown Girls came out in theaters. The 20th anniversary of both movies is this month!!
Raven literally owned Disney Channel in the early 2000s. She broke the mold for all other black Disney Channel stars. Not only that, both of her shows passed the 65 episode mark.
That's so Raven was a great show I'm glad that the show ran for 100 episodes but I'm still mad that the show ended on a cliffhanger just like The Wayans Bros, Family Matters, One on One, Girlfriends, Duckman, My Wife & Kids, Malcolm & Eddie, Moesha, Smart Guy, The Parent'Hood, The Jeffersons, The PJs, The Jamie Foxx Show, etc.
@beaniegee5129 Don’t forget SMART GUY, MOESHA, THE PJs, JAMIE FOXX, THE PARENT HOOD, etc all ended haphazardly. Notice a lot of our shows end on a cliffhanger or plain cancelled while “their” shows get a nice heartwarming big promotional series finale send-off.
The only black shows that ended on a high is Fresh Prince and Martin. But The shows you mention didn't end on a high note was disrespectful to the cast that help make the show.
Raven was everything the it girl the Queen of Disney she been in the game killing it since birth she was the it factor she had beauty and talent she could sing , act and rap she inspired me when i was her age i wanted to act because of raven. Raven WAS Disney at that time in the early 2000's it was messed up when she went on 106 & Park she had to announce that nobody brought her album even tho she said it in a joke but you could see she was upset about it
In a video for them. (The channel), Raven expressed being afraid to come out as gay due to Ellen, a comedian, coming out and having it not be well received. Being exposed early to the horrors of being famous, including being told she would be scrutinized 24/7, could not have been helpful.
As much as I loved that Vanity Fair cover, It is a complete and utter shame that Raven was the only Black female on that damn Vanity Fair cover. Outrageous Tokenism at its finest! Being on the same channel and hype level that year, she should be right next to Hilary Duff(not the gilmore girls lady).
@@cookiedoughh720 So what?? She still actually had a mainstream acting AND singing career outside of Disney while Raven didn’t! And I would know cause I actually was alive in the early 2000s
She did have a point on being "African American " funny how everybody of color is slapped with "blank-ameriacn" while whites are American...look regardless of color of what country you were born and raised in...you are of that country IJS 🤨 wish her the best glad she didn't get into drugs like many child stars and take their lives 😢🙏🏾

I Gotta give Raven Si•MON’ ye her props & 💐 simply because she owns who she was…is…what she’ll be. Like, love or hate. I get not wanting to be referred to as African American…she wasn’t born in Africa. Same for the majority of us in this country. White folks decided to be ‘nice’ and call us that because slaves were no longer chattel…we were human beings. WOOO WEEE!! I can go there and make you go 🤔. I can tell stuff they didn’t teach/refused to teach in school.
I was shocked that everyone else was shocked when Raven “came out”. I never seen her with or mentioned being into dudes so I just always assumed that she was into women on the low. I only assumed that because that’s how it usually is
I have to admit, I was surprised to learn that she’s gay, or rather, "a human who loved humans". I'm the same age as her, that was future wifey growing up. 😂😂🤣😂

Raven was really one of the cutest and smartest young actresses. I knew she was talented beyond her years on the classics The Cosby Show and Hangin' with Mr. Cooper.
Raven-Symone also appeared on Sesame Street, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, My Wife & Kids, Cory in the House, The Proud Family, etc.
She was that girl ❤ I loved her growing up.
Yess she wasss!! I always call her the "Beyonce" of Disney, because of her long standing and contribution to the industry is something else💖💖
Hangin with Mr. Cooper is a classic underrated show
Raven-Symone is and will always be the Beyonce of Disney
Ok
Raven-Symone also voiced Stephanie on The Proud Family in 2001
Raven is definitely an legend and her flowers are well deserved. We were really being extra/tripping about her stating she is American not African American. 😂😂😂
I'm surprised people criticized her. It seems obvious what she meant.
People just wanna be mad for no reason. Raven got dragged for saying it, but Smokey Robinson got a standing ovation for saying the exact same thing!

Okay, that says and explains a lot. Wish she had said that earlier!
Nah I heard this too and it was recently
She said it on her Instagram page

Jett Jackson did sorry😊

Add my wife and kids too..
The only black shows that ended on a high is Fresh Prince and Martin. But

I think That’s So Raven aired their episodes out of order, especially the last 4 from Season 4.
TSR didn't end on a cliffhanger. It's finale was a normal episode, where Eddie tried to get his divorced parents back together.
The Cheetah Girls 1 and 2 are classics!!!!
I loved her This Is My Time album.
She deserved a successful singing career!
I wish she had more success in that.
I feel the same.

She was on the little rascals too
She was such an adorable, intelligent and cuddly looking toddler!!🤎🤎
Raven-Symone's first two albums are so underrated
Raven-Symone also made a cameo appearance in Latin singer Belinda's Ni Freud Ni Tu Madre video along with Drew Seeley
I love the opening. So many epic clips of the greats!
Raven is that one quirky cousin lol. but we still and welcome and her crazy ass 😂
Raven was a cute little girl!
And was gorgeous when she did that's so raven
I think she's still very pretty!

I met her in 2016 outside of a broadway show and was still charismatic even though you could tell she was tryna blend in. A moment I’ll never forget.
Thank you for the videos. You are great and loved my sister ☺️
I still listen to “this is my time” she ATE that album!
So the part with her acting and music, I would say her acting career was sky-high than her singer career.

She's so "Raven"😊❤❤❤
Thats so raven.

They forgot “Zenon”
Raven Symone definitely is the queen of Disney idc 🤷🏾♀️. Now her morals and perspective on societal issues are questionable.
