One thing I’d add as a real pilot is to always turn Beacon on before start. Strobes in the US shouldn’t be turned on until runway entry. If you have the strobes on before that you can affect the vision of other pilots especially if you are holding short as another plane is on short final as not to blind them. Safety issue. Also props should be full forward before start
A real pilot should probably point out that the condition lever full forward would likely result in a fire. That is more pressing than starting with the prop feathered.
According the the 208B POH the engine is started in feather. It's a free power turbine so it really doesn't matter, engine can be started with someone holding the prop. And yes, the condition lever should NOT be in high idle at start, it should be placed in low idle after a stable Ng over 12%.
Unfortunately this isn’t how you start the caravan. Your engine is now in flames on start. Fuel condition lever: OFF before turning on the starter. Ignition can stay normal as starter turns on Ignition anyway. Prop lever should be forward before start. Once engine hits 12%ng, now add fuel to low idle. Monitor Oils and mainly ITT. Once at 52% starter off, fuel pump normal. In real life we set the fuel condition lever from low idle to full before take off.
You also shouldn't have the ignition switch on for start. It should remain norm unless the separator is open, flying through moderate or heavy precip, ice, or in the event of an air restart. I have seen 'some' companies list the ignition "on" for start, but it's unnecessary.
This is a tutorial on how to start the plane in the game. 'game'. If you want to learn how to start a real plane, sure there's tutorials on that to find. What is it with the FS community being so smug looking for constant corrections in a desperate war to sound smart?
@@SBAviation10 It doesn't matter what country you're in, it's not "mixture". Mixture is controlling the mixture of fuel and air, whereas the condition lever is fuel ONLY. No turbine engine has a "mixture".

I am watching this video because I could not get it to start. Those overhead fuel valves are out of sight, out of mind. Next start will be with a checklist

Great quick vid. The 208 is my favourite plane to fly. I am though having serious rudder trouble mainly after landing and trying to taxi to parking. I’m using a thrustmaster twist stick for the rudder as don’t have any pedals. It going the opposite way and sometimes no movement at all. Hi, I'm a maintenance instructor for the C208. What would it take for me to get a complete set up for them to interact and learn procedures. What I'm asking is about monitor, computer requirements, etc. Thanks in advance Dale
Holy smokes I just crashed this thing for the first time. I've only got about 5hrs in this plane and crash landed it about 2000ft before the runway. Oil pressure was lost and vacuum pressure. I did accidentally cut the fuel off for about 15 seconds and turned it back on. About 2 minutes later all the failures started and I couldn't get the engine back started. Smooth flight and descend from 11k ft to 5k ft per ATC. Got clearance to land set up the plane to land and crash landed shortly after. All efforts to restart the engine failed. Not sure if icing had anything to do with this. Very weird. Any thoughts anyone?
You definitely switched the fuel cut off back on? Icing can be an issue carb heat should prob be on at that stage rpm full fuel mixture full for landing
..start is not to actual Cessna Caravan start..and items not actually what they are called..I teach it..but maybe the way it works in FS2020. I will have it in a week or so and see what I think.
