Building patience in a world where fast is better | Moving from outcome to intention | Paint with me

  • I don't know about you - but the world is spinning and speeding. Everything moves rapidly especially online and there is no slowing down. It's up to me to choose and decide what pace feels best for me and today I want to chat about how I feel about the advice "paint quickly to if you want to paint loose florals" and building patience as I slowly build up a painting.
To me - painting has been a space I call my own where I get to express and make my own choices - there isn't anywhere to rush to, no real outcome I need to achieve - it should be about the experience.
I'd love to hear your thoughts :)

This is beautiful Jillian. This is what I want to learn to do. 💕. I definitely need to slow down while painting, which will not be easy for me.
I would say that this painting and video editing took you most of a day. Since I edit videos too, I know how time consuming it all can be.

Thank you for this reminder to slow down. You're right, whenever I see a video where an artist creates a beautiful piece of art in a few seconds it actually discourages me, thinking that I would never be able to do that. Thanks for snapping me back to reality.❤❤❤

I agree and I think it's also the artist need to "attract" attention from the already short attention spans of people online. It's discouraging to see when art is made in a snap. Glad u like this video 😀 and thanks for being here

Hey! I used both watercolors and phmartin. The ones in the ceramic plate were all watercolors - a mix of various brands sennelier, holbein, Daniel smith and mjiello mission gold. The inks in the tray are by Dr ph Martin radiant range and ecoline of various colors

I find it very difficult to paint loosely. I paint like it has to look exactly like the pic. Help?

Debby it is hard! I find that squinting at the reference helps and I also rely less on the reference the further along I go so I start to lose the details
