Fun fact for all you non gamers out there: The new avatar game "Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora", The developers worked closely with James Cameron's production company Lightstorm Entertainment to make sure everything in the game was correct according to all the pre established lore. They wanted to do that so they can make it cannon and maybe even reference it in future movies. The game takes place during the same time period as the second movie, The way of water. pretty cool if you ask me. I've been playing the game recently and if you listen to random Na'vi that are just out there doing there thing and having conversations they say some pretty interesting stuff. I overheard an older Na'vi telling a story to a younger one about a war between two Na'vi clans.
Actually in the pre-show of Flight of Passage it's told that "The RDA practiced bad mining habits over a generation ago". Also quite a few creatures from Avatar - The Way of Water can be seen during this experience. My theory is that the RDA will remain relevant for the Avatar Universe for a little while longer. Personally until the year 2180, once the RDA is removed from Pandora. It takes "over a generation" for the events of Flight of Passage to occur. Since a generation generally means 20 to 30 years, and as described in the pre-show as 'over a generation ago" I would estimate 35 to 40 years after the "removal" of the RDA. So sometime near 2215 or 2220. However this is just my theory, including my thoughts about when the expected year is that the RDA stopped their mining practices.

I think Able Ryder (Avatar Game) canonically sided with the RDA (RDA Choice) and later joined SciOps' rebellion at Hell's Gate during the Battle of the Tree of Souls. The reason for this is that the Na'vi story had Ryder ride a Great Leonopteryx which goes against Neytiri's great grandfather to be the last rider of the Great Leonopteryx until Jake arrived.

Man, don't worry about spoilers. Whoever's gonna watch this should've already watched A2 man...I wouldn't want to watch another video of this with spoilers and going through the entire history again...
that's nonsense...... you shouldn't have to buy products on various different mediums to understand how one movie conects to another....... this is Disney Star Wars level of WTF!...... after watching the second one for the first time....... I spent the whole movie going "who's Spider?, who's the child Grace apparently had with the geeky guy from the first movie?, or is she Jakes daughter? and just happens to be adopted?...... or what is going on here, was Grace epileptic...... why is her avatar in a tank....... what????, was Grace epileptic. One movie should make sense to another, or else you need expostion, in this case a huge amout of exposition!?...... and I still have no idea why I'm trying to look this up....... and now the Na'vi got trained in zero G........ What????? Makes no sense, and now there are 5 movies instead of 3?....... the Sesame Street Word of today kids is......Cashgrab...... say it with me kids....... not going to bother with the next one, as I don't want to buy endless comics or games just to understand who people are in the next movie
@brianoshea1178 None of the exposition provided in this video is necessary. They explain who Spider is in the film. This video explores ancillary details that heighten understanding. All franchises do this. Star Wars did it decades before Disney bought it.
@@Geekritique ok fair about star wars...... don't think the Original trilogy did, the prequels definitely...... but that's kinda my point, Kiri is suddenly Na'vi Anikin...... virgin birth whatever...... but I'll also say I was a bit tired watching it yesterday...... I actually really enjoyed the movie also...... it was mostly afterwards my brain kept going "hang on a minute.....what?", then went back and watched the first one for the first time since came out thinking I'd missed a whole lot....... did teh General dude get someone pregnant?...... did they put Graces body in a big tank...... cause I did remember a scene of them burying a Na'vi in the first one...... did a corpse give birth to a virgence in the force......what? I'll go watch again......
@@Geekritique I would like to compare this kind of story telling to lets say the Lord of The Rings though...... imagine 14years took place between book 1 and 2, and all of a sudden there are completely new characters, Frodo and Sam went to space, there so many battles that you missed, Legolas had a virgin birth, but it might be Gimli's, Boromir got cloned but is now an orc...... ok I@m joking around a bit...... but do you get my point, it's not tight story telling...... also I mean no bad vibes here, thank you for the video..... I agree with your assessment that James Cameron has become much more relaxed about others writing stories in his universe, seeing him assign the stories for the sequels to four(?) different writers (granted, he has the last word) and him discussing the idea of someone taking over should he die or become otherwise unable to finish the films. I feel like he has become a more and more pleasant and less self-focused person after Titanic, or since he started working on Avatar.
In Avatar: The Way of Water, the humans (skypeople) are repeating the same mistakes they made on Earth (example : On Pandora the Tulkun are hunted for the Amrita and on Earth humpback whales are hunted for oil, meat, and baleen)
there is sooo much lore into avatar it's incredible too bad james Cameron can't make a 6 hours movie for those that say its lore and story are sooo weak or sth kappa avatar is a masterpiece
I was surprised they finally gave us "the Time of the First Songs", which was just a line by Neytiri in the first film. I had guessed it was going to be a few thousand years ago, and turned out to be right, but it could also have been way further back. For additional info, the Omatikaya lived in their specific Hometree for 20 000 years before it was destroyed (or at least the tree was that old), and Na'vi as a species (or genus?) are supposed to be 12 million years old, which I suppose is how they have been able to evolve into such different shapes, adapted for different environments. They still maintain the same language though, because of their connection to Eywa, or passing on their stories in song.
I want to know more details on the human withdrawal from Pandora. Was there a ship capable of taking all those people back to earth? Even then, they’d all have to probably be awake the whole time. Resources for the journey would then be a large issue. I bet the humans were huddled on a ship in orbit for a while until they could get organized to leave
@@Geekritique do they have the knowledge and tools though? i guess that most remaining humans are scientists and more than 100 years in the future they may have very advanced 3D printers so it sort of makes sense

Glad to help! I hope you enjoy them!
Ps, your video is great, and I did enjoy it, and i will probably try to get my hands on the comics
Thank you, I appreciate that. Hope you enjoy the comics if you pick them up!
@@Geekritique most definitely
Watching this while playing the new game!! The interactive world introduced in frontiers of pandora have me absolutely lost.. I find myself spending hours in the world without even noticing a minutes passed by.., such a beautiful experimce and I recommend any fans of the series check it out ASAP!! It drags you in and refuses to let you leave sometimes… an absolutely amazing journey and story✌️❤️
I watched it once now I’m gonna rewatch it with a better understanding
Glad to help!
Man, don't worry about spoilers. Whoever's gonna watch this should've already watched A2 man...I wouldn't want to watch another video of this with spoilers and going through the entire history again...
Lol, well maybe I’ll think twice on it if I ever make another.
that's nonsense...... you shouldn't have to buy products on various different mediums to understand how one movie conects to another....... this is Disney Star Wars level of WTF!...... after watching the second one for the first time.......
I'm going to to go back and watch again then, as I'm curious if I'm just 100% wrong...... I'll totally admit I'm wrong, but if I think I'm right I'll say that too.....
I was just left with a lot of questions, and have watched an hour worth of different videos now to try and fill in some gaps...... and I just wanted to watch a good story without the confusion
this was amazing!! thank u so much
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you.
Watching this AFTER! Already saw the way of water! So excited for this vid
Awesome, hope you enjoyed it.
Thank you for this. Amazing world!
You’re very welcome!
I’m a cast member at Pandora the world of avatar at Disney World. Our land is set 70 to 100 years after the 5th and final avatar film, Jim Cameron, Jon Landau & the imagineer’s say it’s official cannon
That’s awesome, David. It’ll be interesting seeing how the connections to the park become more evident as time goes on. Thanks for sharing.
Hi, amazing video recap sir can i ask you a question?
how did u manage to do in the editing the timeline at min 1.51?
cuz i'm trying to find a template similar to yours but i'm not able to find it
if you could help me I'll be very happy
I confess that i'm not that good at editing but i wanna practice more and learn more hehehe
Unfortunately there’s no template. I had to learn photoshop from the ground up and physically create a visual timeline to then import into my video editing software.
@@Geekritique oh i see, and how can i create it? i'm learning photoshop in the tattoo accademy actually but i'm not that skilled sadly, as a girl i find troubled with this kind of things T_T
if you could be so gentle to tell me the steps I'll for real very happy for your help (i wanna try to do a video analisis over the character of a BL story called "Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation" :-) )
i loved this pls keep going don't listen to the hate comments
Thank you, I definitely plan to make more videos like this.
Totally agree. I’d like to think Avatar, in its own way, helped him achieve that relaxed state.
Haven't seen it yet. I heard I won't be disappointed
Make sure you see it in 3D. I highly recommend it.
Thank u so much for this Dakota. I have some comics I gotta read chronologically now. Merry Christmas⛄️
You’re very welcome! I hope you enjoy them!
@@Geekritique Thnks mate. Ur Channel is a HUGE inspiration to my channels timeline. I ❤️ ur videos. Keep up the AMAZING work
i watch this vid after watched the avatar 2 twice, great content! supporting all the way from Indonesia 🇮🇩
So glad for your support, thank you!
Hello fellow indonesian
@@izuto727 halo apa kabar sobat? ☺️
Great job making the video. I haven’t watched the way of the water….yet
Thanks so much! If you liked this, you’ll enjoy the film!
I don't know why but after every movie I watch , I need to see videos talking about it to understand more
You want to experience what more the fictional worlds have to offer. I’m the same way.
In Avatar: The Way of Water, the humans (skypeople) are repeating the same mistakes they made on Earth (example : On Pandora the Tulkun are hunted for the Amrita and on Earth humpback whales are hunted for oil, meat, and baleen)
Agreed.
I'm watching this after seeing Avatar: The Way of Water
Great video
Thank you!
Thank you!
No problem!
there is sooo much lore into avatar it's incredible too bad james Cameron can't make a 6 hours movie for those that say its lore and story are sooo weak or sth kappa avatar is a masterpiece
I know, I’d definitely sit through a 6 hour flick like that!
I have already watch the movie Avatar 02 in 3D and it was the best way to watch it
In my opinion, if you don’t see it in 3D, you’re missing half of the movie.
Woh woh.woh stop for a second you mean that the lore of pandora goes back 3,000 years ago damn
Yup! It’s quite deep!
I saw your recap after seeing the way of water. Wish I had seen it before hand! haha
Well I hope you enjoyed the movie regardless!
I've seen way of water. Love it
I haven't seen it yet. I'm so excited!
You’re in for a serious treat!
i cant believe that Avatar:The Way Of Water is 1 years old already
Im watching this b4 seeing the film, just hadn't had time yet, but im itching to see it 😁
You’re gonna really love the film! Enjoy!
Ubisoft has stated that Avatar Frontiers Of Pandora will also take place in between the 1 year time gap in the way of water.
Oh that’s interesting! Can’t wait for that.
I watched the second one as soon as it came out in my area (the 15th of december) and people are already hating on it. I loved it. Sue me.
Nobody in my circle is hating on it, so I can’t really relate, but I do plan to sue you.
At the end of the first film, there were space vessels on Pandora picking up the humans that withdrew.
The old games have been pushed out of the canon, and taking their place in canon, is the new games, Reckoning and Frontiers of Pandora
This makes a lot of sense!
do you have a list of the background ambient music you chose for this video? I love your music choice
Watching after!
Despite the hate on Avatar, I really enjoy the movie so much. I've seen the first one, looking forward to see the second one.
You’re gonna absolutely love it!
what do you use to make your timelines, I want to make my own but don't know where to start
The visual timeline is made on Photoshop.
@@Geekritique alright, thanks
15:14 na'vi in spacesuits is a cursed image lol. how did they even get those?
They had the remaining humans make them.
@@Geekritique do they have the knowledge and tools though? i guess that most remaining humans are scientists and more than 100 years in the future they may have very advanced 3D printers so it sort of makes sense
They explain it pretty well in the comic, but yes. There are a few ships left by the RDA, and there’s plenty of materials left for them to synthesize.
Watching after. It was great the first and 2nd one.
Nice, glad you liked them.
Im here after buddy!
Thanks for coming bud
im glad i had to hear 6 minutes worth of things that werent actually relevant
I’m glad too. It’s important for any timeline to succinctly address the canonicity of titles, even if they do add to the lore and history of a franchise.
I just watched the way of water today then this video randomly seen this video on my main screen on RUclips
Well I’m very glad you’ve found my video!
the day i went to avatar way of water i first watched this one expdended and hour later iwent to the cinema and the watched the 2d one its wonderfull to see both after eachother up to the next one now 6 hours watching before 3 hours in the cinema
That sounds like an epic 6 hours of cinema my dude.
I did it with lotr/hobbit.lotrthering game of Thrones. Starwars. Marvel. Dc.jurassic park/world
And the godzillamovies
Everytime a new season or movie came out i watched what came before
I can it a full story adventure
And it really fits
Only ring of power series
And starwas the sequals suck ass
@@Geekritique you dont wanne know how much i have watched those series and movies
thing i did game of thrones 8 doesnt exist for me and i made my own papered version of dany and jon 1 in the north as king of winterfell and dany the queen of the seven
cerci she is in prison on the see protected by dragons to let her see everything
jamie has his honor back
and huron died by his family
and the knight king died by a verry awesome sword fight with jon snow at the wall
instead of attacking they prepared because when bran came back he brought a elf to show and explain everything
no starnge ending bran doesnt become king he became a advisor
0:56 I'm watching this *instead of* the new movie. ;)
3:40 Several solid & secure Flash emulators have risen since Adobe ended support, so it might still be playable on one of those if one extracts the swf file from the website.
As far as the emulators, yeah. That’s what I meant by “conventional means.”
@@Geekritique You know you've hit the big time when you start getting Telegram impersonation scammers. ;)
More interesting watching this than actually watching the movies tbh
Well I hope it gives everyone a greater appreciation for the films.
I’ve watched the way of water when I am looking at this
Nice, hope you enjoyed!
went to see the way of water last weekend.. was awesome, even my wife typed in finnish her gratitudes to their FB page
That’s amazing! I’m glad to hear you both liked it so much!
ngl im very excited to see how the conflict continues annd ends so the events of Pandora: The World of Avatar happend a century later..........idk...its nice to know at the end of everything that happend, there was a happy ending to all of this.
That’s if the Avatar land is even canon, it’s hard to say.
Loved the way of water
Such a great movie!
