This is for my dad, who used to be a pilot, though he escaped all the war drafts by being deaf. He's about to lose his mobile home to flooding by a hurricane, and he's lost everyone he ever cared about except for us kids of his. He has many flaws, but he still doesn't deserve what he's being handed right now.

Something about this song just does things to me, emotionally. The composition here is absolutely beautiful. Wonderful lyrics, too. I don't know if this is an official channel or a fanpage, but either way, AP is just criminally underlooked.

+Rob Of Ages It looks official, though that could just be some dedicated fan. Which would be a shock, because you're right. Criminally underlooked.

This song is very blunt with what it's trying to convey so this interpretation should be valid, alright so it delves into themes of abandonment, emotional distance, and the aftermath of trauma. The lyrics paint a picture of a figure who has retreated into themselves, seemingly escaping from the world around them.
The opening lines, "Where did you go? / Were you killed in the war?," set a tone of questioning and uncertainty about the whereabouts and emotional state of the individual being addressed. The mention of being "killed in the war" suggests a battle or struggle that the person may have faced, leading to their emotional withdrawal.
The imagery of diving "head first down through trap doors" and "pull[ing] the cord to break your fall" portrays a sense of desperation and survival instincts kicking in. Despite appearing unscathed on the surface, the lyrics reveal that "the wounds went deeper," indicating hidden emotional scars or trauma.
The plea to "pull yourself together" highlights the speaker's desire for the person to regain control and reconnect with reality, particularly for the sake of their son. There's a sense of longing for the person to overcome their struggles and be present in the lives of their loved ones.
The reference to the individual as a "solitary homeless king / Surrounded by your piles of junk" paints a vivid picture of isolation and detachment from society. Despite being physically present, they are emotionally distant and surrounded by the remnants of their past, symbolized by the "piles of junk."
Overall, I it delves into the complexities of emotional detachment, the impact of trauma, and the struggle to reconnect with oneself and others. It speaks to the longing for understanding, acceptance, and reconciliation in the face of emotional turmoil and isolation.
