Porsche is the one car I never owned but when I drove my daughters recently purchased Boxster, had to get one. Not knowing much began researching the Porsche I would want. While at the dealership a1997 - 993 sat in the showroom amongst other newer 911s. Fell in love and bought it. Absolutely love her. Made the right choice.
~50k miles is when the engine is fully broken in with cylinders bedded fully. Many don’t understand this when purchasing a driver and getting to experience it fully. Cars need to be driven, especially older performance cars. Miles are not the enemy, poor maintenance care is. Beautiful car BTW!
+1.. Agreed. .. Our '98 Carrera C2S (ordered/spec'd new) presently has 80K something miles on the clock. .. I Drive that baby when ever responsible... People want to steal these 993 puppies now... Damn.
These are probably my favorite gen of 911. The sad thing is apparently a lot of other people think the same, and thus the price has shot up over the years.
No they only favor it because of status and trends. Not because they truly appreciate the car. Most people with money to afford expensive vehicles want the newest and most technologically advanced automobiles. Only true enthusiast can appreciate the older vehicles
@Tarek Salah .. +1. Agreed, the 993 Carrera S is a model 911 for keeps. . Ordered my '98 C2S after months of gazing through the 5-page options list. .. Arctic Silver w/black Full Leather, 17"Cup II, M033 suspension, LSD, Litronic HL, HB Racing seats, leather Airbag cover, sun visors & rear mirror, Rear wiper, HiFi CD, Door pocket's/console lighting, Rear Fog light, et cetra
I bought a '98 C2S new back in the day, and later sold it to get a '97 993 turbo with 2400 miles. They were both excellent cars, but to me the driving experience pales compared to driving something like a 997.2 C2S. The newer cars are just so much more competent than the old air cooled cars, with their crazy old school ergonomics and a front windshield that feels like it's a foot from your face. If I were going to buy a Porsche now and keep it forever, it would be a 991.2 GT3. That engine, transmission and chassis are just plain driving magic, and I think they are truly the last of a breed.
I agree. These cars look stunning but in the real world their performance wont satisfy someone used to new cars. I think 997 is the sweet spot between old vibes and modern performance. However, if you want the fastest or most thrilling car then go for the newest.
@CMDEE QTEE ... Did just the opposite with my '98 C2S twin grills. .Installed a traditional, time-honored one-piece black engine grill. . The arctic silver OEM twin grill is packed up & secured. Ordered my '98 C2S taking delivery in October of '97...
@@michaelschneider- Excellent. I still have my black single grill packed away for almost 4 years now. I also have arctic silver. Probably the best color for a 993.
@S DV .. As an original 1998 Carrera S owner, your point is taken. . However Porsche AG uses the "C2S" 993 nomenclature often. . Some owners I see use the term Carrera 2S.. I say the proper name is right there on the rear decklid; Carrera S ... Cheers, M/S

Just the pedal position and room as well as clutch action in the 993 make me say: NOPE to your assessment. I will give you best “air cooled”, but not even close to “best” 911 ever produced. I will take my 12 GTS manual all day every day over your C2S. The premium for air cooled 993’s is dick-riculous. Pay more for “less”. No thank you I am not drinking your koolaid.

Best looking Porsche hands down.🇺🇸👍

Nonsense. I have a friend with a 993carrera S with almost 300.000 km still running in a fantastic shape...
What is up with this beautiful car and with people hating on such a masterpiece is beyond me

What a beautiful peace of German machinery
Have a long life to enjoy your 993. Best regards from Portugal
Amazing car and video! Thank you
Awesome job will the driving sequence. Not the normal content I’ve grown to love for your channel but I did enjoy this video. Well done.

993 C2S is my dream configuration for the 993. This will probably be the 911 I end up with one day.
What a wonderful car
I love my 98 C2S !!

I have a 98 C2S also, bought it in 04 and I will never sell it. Love that car.
One of the most beautiful Porsche 911(993) 🦅🦅🇺🇸 such a classic
That shape will never age😄
ICONIC VEHICLE
The 993 manual transmission is the best of all the 911 transmissions
What a German piece of ART👍🏼✌️😎
Those geese are fowling the lawn

One day, I'll own a 993

You and me both! I couldn't agree more. The 993 is a stunning car and drives fantastic. But a 991.2 GT3 in a six-speed? I'm sold every time.

What did this sell for?
Did you know you’ve got 4 left sided wheels the rotation is different on the right side if you look carefully a lot of Porsche’s do 😳
How much extra power does the C2S have over the C2?
same power

The best?not by ay means.the best ever ,in my opinion,is the 911 R 991.1.however this is a great video.great car the 993 c2s.
+1. Agreed .. A 911R in Carrera GT Silver w/Green stripes. . I'd trade in my Original Owner '98 Carrera S (993) in a heartbeat!

Beautiful car with the worst driving I have ever seen, even from my 15 y.o.
Nope. Not better than the latest Porsche 911. Just as the one after this will be better once again.
only a non enthusiast comment will do.993 best ever last of the 911s the new ones are trucks non nibble buy a lambo
Why buy 993 Porsche when you can buy a New Porsche 911 with a turbo on Carrera for the same price

New 911's are rivals to ferraris and lambos. Classic ones are unique, unmatched. People buy them for the feelings, style and vibes.

Some people even prefer an 20 year old 500$ Bottle of Whiskey to a Jack Daniels bought at Walmart, it's crazy, I don't get it.
Not really a 911. Horrible styling, terrible wheels, just not a Porsche.
