As for puppy’s not eating wel, my male now 8 years old was a fussy eater and didn’t eat well. His breeder was suggested goats milk. So he’s raised on mom’s milk and goats milk. 2021 we had a litter of two, my girl didn’t want to lay down so i had to help her and comfort her, her milk production started to decline and i was told the same by my vet, i had formula in the house in case of but because the boys where near their time of weening of she suggested to gif them that in their food. My dogs are raw feeders, they have a balanced diet of raw meat, organ meat, fruits and vegetables. Due to my male border collie’s reaction to salmon oil or other fatty fish they get krill in their foods too. I had made their feeding schedule and showed it to my vet. Both border collies are in flyball so they get as suggested by our vet pasta in their morning feed. Our boy turned 8 and is in super condition. Yes she did bloodwork on them.before every tournament year they get a sport check up, this year we planned a second litter and before that they both get e check up.
They have a kind of kibble during the holidays when traveling with the campervan because we can’t put away such quantity of raw meat away. But it has high meat content, no grains or corn in it. Yes they still get fruits and vegetables on top. The pups had even been used to raw feeding.
As a pet owner it’s good to keep learning how and what to feed, medical care (have done a first respons care for pets, and that included hart compression and how to stabilize breaks when on hikes, reducing blood loss too) all like for humans. Im a recognized small breeder in Belgium 🇧🇪

What is the reasoning behind feeding twice daily vs once or 3 times for adult dogs? Thanks

Interesting I thought dogs should just eat meat as that’s what their metabolism is used to?

Dogs are not wolves. They need a well-rounded diet.

It's a common misconception. Remember that in the wild, wolves aren't just eating the "meat" ie. the muscle. Wolves get a lot of their nutrients from the visceral organs of their prey. This includes the digested matter - which is plant material as well.

Dogs don't 'need' more carbs than cats. They don't 'need' carbs at all. They can survive eating more carbs and grains than cats but it's not essential to their diets. Cats are obligate carnivores and cannot survive on a diet without meat. Dogs are also carnivores but can survive on a diet high in fruit veggies and carbs but they won't thrive as their body isn't designed to digest the high carb intake of most kibbles. Carbs are also one of the major causes of obesity and aid in the growth of cancers as its broken down into sugars which can be 'eaten' by cancerous cells or turned into fat.
No matter the size of the kibble, chewing it is unlikely to remove any plaque. It be like a person eating a hard biscuit, it does nothing. Brushing is defiantly good and having your dog chew on bones (raw not cooked) or on hard chews also help :)
    .
If I've gotten anything wrong please let me know :P

Thanks for watching. Have you seen the most recent study regarding grain free and heart disease? It's a very fine balance and one that typically isn't established properly outside of veterinary medicine with clinical testing of diets. vetnutrition.tufts.edu/2018/11/dcm-update/

They dont 'need' carbs because if you up their protein they will cab load their glycogen stores via gluconeogenesis

@@niteshroud99 See comment above re: grain free diets and cardiac disease. If you're talking about switching to only protein based diets, we risk putting them into ketosis, remember?

I haven't had to clean my dog's teeth yet and when I got him his teeth were all black...gave him calf leg bones to chew on cleaned up perfectly healthy also the fact that humans have know chewing on hard and or fibrous material cleans your teeth I would say it's possible to make a food that helps clean teeth and helps keep the clean but the stuff I've tried isn't good so maybe idk
