  • its no new news - we are facing no change in the world of fashion creatives, when it comes to big houses acquiring people for their fame or simply for their male power, no shame here on the designers themselves, they are all equally hard working. BUTTTT something needs to change, therefore a little break here also with the new creative director of Carven Louise Trotter now. How did you like the show? What are your thoughts about luxury, luxury industry and design in general right now? Light up my heart and let me know below!

    Don’t know much about Louise Trotter, but loved the collection and yes, happy to see a woman as CD! Of course generalizing but I do the self lived experience of being a woman creates more relatable and wearable fashion than someone who just uses the woman (or girl) as a muse. I tend to see that reflected in my own purchases as well, the brands I actually would like to buy from a use on the daily are female led.
    Reg frequency of videos I think once a week is enough, I think I would be stressed by not being able to keep up with (I love RUclips but use it less frequently than other apps).

    I saw that for this first collection at Carven Louise Trotter collaborated with the artist Alison Watt using her painting 'Warrender' for the invitation. About her later work from wich Warrender was extracted she says “In these paintings I wanted to explore the traditions of the Still Life. To look at how the human can be represented without being present. And how the still life is often a portrait without likeness.” I can see how such an artist can inspire this collection, in the way fabrics drape around the body not revealing it's shapes but the active interiority of the woman wearing it, It's soft but not fragile, transparent but still protective. I also love the front "flap" on the skirt accentuating the act of walking in a powerfull way. Thank you for this video and for your energy, this topic is much needed!

    I was obsessed with Carven during the early 2010s, like everybody else. It's interesting to see this change in the house. It does remind me a bit of Prada and a bit of Jil Sander (when Jil Sander returned in the early '00s). Interesting to hear how you interpreted the Carven woman.

    firstly, thank you! this considered, thoughtful and informed perspective is so refreshing and much needed. well done Carven. Louise Trotter is brilliant. i'd gone off fashion magazines earlier in my life because i didn't want to be dictated to but am coming back around out of genuine curiosity. ultimately though, this type of content speaks to me much more whether it's in video or written format.

    Thanks for the awesome content you always bring within that point of irony that entertains me so well. I'd love to have more than one vid per week but at the same time. At the same time, even tho it seems there's always so much happening every day in fashion, I don't consider most of that actually relevant. Personally, I'm fine with this rithm of information, maybe with some extra stuff right after fashion weeks/catwalk out of the fashion month. Thank you again, always happy to support your style and your content.

    I think that another reason is due to the preconceived notion that male designers create "fashion as art" while female designers create "fashion as clothing". To add to that, an overwhelming majority of those male designers are gay or queer. There's also the notion that queer men have stronger links to counter-culture (aka "bad taste").
    Saying that, a quick look at history strongly opposes this. Lots of male designers focused their careers on creating wearable clothes for women's lives, while lots of female designers are known for creating conceptual designs that revolutionised runways.
    Even today, there's a new generation of female designers rejecting Philo's intellectual "working woman" minimalism by creating hyperfeminine, hypersexual designs.

    • @tubaavalon
      @tubaavalon  8 месяцев назад

      I love this thought, women also mainly view fashion from their own perspective and maybe therefore less of an art form but as a practical good that's serving certain functions, while men view it more abstract, not knowing what a high heel or tight dress might feel like. While there are of course also just many women that just don't receive the attention, who work as wildly creative and artistic. Definitely interesting to follow this thought and investigate, thanks for the insight!

    We should not forget that in former West-Germany the were only allowed to take a job when it was not interfering with the interests of the family or couple till 1977(aka your husband had to give his consent). & the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden (Switzerland) had no women’s vote till 1990(and only after a decision by the federal court, they did it cause they had to). Yes , I am very happy you talked about the the lack of diversity in fashion. We could start now about the racism,too. I suppose a non white female head designer/ creative director at the helm of one of the big fashion houses will be a 🦄 . It is awful how we are falling back in time in every aspect of life.
    I loved the Carven/ Louise Trotter show. I think the skirts and tops were stunning. I liked it more than the Jil Sander Show(which I found this time a little disappointing) and it gives me more than The Row. Everyday with a twist or when I need calmness, for a minute. Concentration on the beautiful essential without getting bored.
    I would like to see one interesting video per week of yours (to be honest I feel it’s healthier than over to saturate )and when you feel the need to do another or two more because there is so much coming up and you would love to make more , like after fashion weeks, than go for it.
    It’s excellent go have you back💪🏻

      I can't believe we are still here though, when will we ever be on time literally concerning equality.. and yes Jil disappointed a lot this season, as much as I love the Meiers, they might be exhausted or bored I feel?

    • @madamerei7378
      @madamerei7378 8 месяцев назад

      Yepp, back to the Stone Age…😭. Maybe they are exhausted or they are getting too much “direction” from OTB… too be honest I was shocked when I saw these white T-shirts with enormous “Jil Sander” printed on. Contradiction to the soul of the brand. But that did OTB in different forms to Margiela: like the outside brand tag on the bags. It really makes me not wanting them.

    As a side note: the aerospace and defense industries in the US and EU have all made inroads in recent years in terms of becoming more welcoming to women, LGBTQ+ and people of color. In fact, major defense conglomerates in the US tend to be ironically some of the most equitable workplaces - it certainly says something that fashion is still so stuck.
