There are two lessons from this tale. 1: the King always gets the gold. 2: even the most powerful of men do stupid things if a pretty girl is involved.
Hello Carrie, I am absolutely Loving your Fairy Fails!! I am a kindergarten and preschool teacher who LOVES children's stories, spoken and from books. I WIILL, most definitely SHARE you with my grand daughter, who is 10, and is SO MUCH like you. YOU are a breath of fresh air and a GREAT role model for young girls who are learning to say what they think!!!!! Thank you!
As soon as I saw the title for this video, I thought yes! Firstly, it's Fairy Fails and that is my favourite area-thingy of your channel. And secondly, twerp? Cute. Seriously, I find it adorable that you don't swear and instead say things like twerp and jerk. You're awesome, Carrie, keep it up!
you forgot the very end of the story: Rumpelstiltskin gets so upset that he kicks into the ground, his leg got stuck and he takes the other to tear himself apart :D
Hahahaha, I was really freaking out about my exam tomorrow before watching this and it has most definitely brightened up my mood and my evening, thank you for another truly AMAZING video :)
Carrie! please make this some kind of series on your channel! It would be soooooo awesome. and as a fairytale lover, you would make me very happy!!! :D you are an amazing storyteller btw.
I've read in some versions (or was it an OUAT version? I can't remember) that Rumplestiltskin is actually in love with the miller's daughter, and that's why he wanted to help her and have her first born child. And I guess that's why he made it easier for her to discover his name, because maybe he knew that a guard will find him and so he danced around the fire while shouting his name? Idek.
Swift 1989 no, because in the original , I was so angry that she knows his name that he stamps on the floor, and makes a hole in the floor where is leg is stuck.. And than he pulled so hard that he hpulled his self into two parts
that was in ouat. rumple was in love with cora and even taught her magic. she was in love with him too and they planned on running away, but in the end she took out her own heart and stayed with the king. basically, cora did all that for power. it's a bit more complicated, but hey, it ouat, when isn't it complicated
All of the stories you've explained are in a book that my parents gave to me when I was five years old. I loved it to pieces, because the illustrations and the cover were so beautiful, and it had one of those ribbon bookmarks that are attached to the book itself. It feels weird to think about, because I've known these stories ever since I learnt to read. One time, I brought the book to school, and accidentally scared (or scarred) all the children.
***** He also doesn't ask for her first born. Second, he actually teaches her how to spin gold so she can do it herself in front of the crowd. Third, she did it to marry the king's son, not the king himself. So minor differences haha
Ashley Collier I know that but when people refer to Disney versions of things, they refer to Classic Disney. Once Upon A Time is all about twisting the storylines of classic fables.
I love videos where your sitting on your bed, because it means your either going to tell us a story about something that happened to you or have a little rant about stuff :)
This is hilarious! The way you describe it is what kills me :D What alarms me is how he can just pop up and let his creepy self inside this tower and she isn't weirded out at all.
I never knew the story of Rumpelstiltskin but now i'm glad I do XD you should do this for all the fairy tales, they sound so much better, plus you save alot of time than if your read them :)
this is weird, ive thought a few times recently that i didnt know the story of rumpelstiltskin, and now here you are! and i have to say, this was a wonderful way to have it told to me:')
I just spent the last day and a half procrastinating by watching every single one of your videos. Needless to say I am behind on my schoolwork, and I subscribed. I enjoy you and, I look forward to more content
As much as I've always liked this tale, I have to say that every little thing you pointed out is bloody true! Haha. And greetings from Lithuania, lovely Carrie! xx
"Ach, wie gut, dass keiner weiß, dass ich Rumpelstilzchen heiß". You're ruining my childhood I actually love that little guy xD For some reason of all the Brüder Grimm stories this was always my favourite. I don't think it's strange he sang his name while being alone, I mean, a guy that wants your first born child is probably MAD.
I was in a fowl mood before I watched this Carrie you are hilarious! I never thought about Rumplestiltskin as being a 'twerp' before, I suppose because I never really had fairytales read to me. Thanks Carrie for cheering me up!! X
I'm pretty sure you've always been like this Carrie, your personality is a bit like alex's. Which explains why you're such good friends and what makes it so much fun to watch you two hang out together :) And seperately your both very brilliant too, as you just proved with this video=)
You left out the best part!!! At the and he doesn't just get annoyed he kills himself. I've heard a few but my favorite is when he jams his fingers into the top of his skull and tears himself open. XD
You should do a series of this. Where you read the classic fairytales again and make a video about it like you did with this. If you did that would be amazing.
I've always been fond of the original Fairy tales. The most amusing part of the the story for me is that in most versions the song he sings implies that he'll eat the child,I always thought that it was a lot of work to get a meal when he could have just stolen a child. I'm also fond of retellings and I recently read a retelling of Rumplestiltskin that actually clears up a lot of the problems with the original tale. Its called 'Spinners' and I highly recommend it.
I love this :) more fairytale analysis please! And don't listen to people who think you have changed, the real Hopefuls know this is one of your normal videos :)
when i was younger i used to watch this series on hbo called happily ever after and they showed most of the fairy tails this way like its closer to the original version
I was laughing the whole time because I remember thinking exactly what you said the whole way through this story but I was about three:') my parents say if they even began to read it I'd get really annoyed at them because it was a stupid story:D
The fairy tale book I have also says that Rumpelstiltskin gets so angry (because she's guessed his name) that he grabs his foot and tears himself in half. I always liked that part.
"I've got a ring, would you fancy that?"
"That would be lovely!"
You bring a loverly british twist to the story!
There are two lessons from this tale.
1: the King always gets the gold.
2: even the most powerful of men do stupid things if a pretty girl is involved.
"...Don't turn it into a sing-a-long." That's hilarious.
Thank you!
you should definitely do more of these when you have the time, carrie. I love them.
" Proper annoyed" Means he tore himself in two. That`s annoyed don`t ya think.
PLEASE MAKE MORE! I NEED ME MAI CARRIE ANALYZING FAIRY TALES! Oh my gosh i can't even say how entertaining this is.
The way Robert portrays Rumpel's character in Once Upon A Time is awesome!!!! Love O.U.A.T!!!
Please do more of these! They're so good!!!
you forgot the very end of the story: Rumpelstiltskin gets so upset that he kicks into the ground, his leg got stuck and he takes the other to tear himself apart :D
Also at the end rumplestiltskin get really annoyed and starts stamping and he stamps so hard that he makes a hole in the floor, falls and dies.
Carrie roasting fairytales is my aesthetic
Aw Carrie you're so great! Before I started watching you I never thought I'd be happy to just watch a video of somebody talking, but I love it! x
The other thing that gets me is that the miller's daughter married the king after he threatened to LOP HER HEAD OFF. And then they had a child!
Hahahaha, I was really freaking out about my exam tomorrow before watching this and it has most definitely brightened up my mood and my evening, thank you for another truly AMAZING video :)
You should do one about Sleeping beauty
Carrie! please make this some kind of series on your channel! It would be soooooo awesome. and as a fairytale lover, you would make me very happy!!! :D
you are an amazing storyteller btw.
Carrie should do more collaborations with dan and Phil they make a great team.
Oh Carrie... You make my days sooooo much better!! Love this video!
All magic comes with a price ;D
+- Kyoko - All you will have is a empty heart and a chipped cup !
Oh please the feels!!
Second part of 5th season better shows more Rumbelle
As a german kid I was only told this version of the story and I didn't even know there was another one..
I've read in some versions (or was it an OUAT version? I can't remember) that Rumplestiltskin is actually in love with the miller's daughter, and that's why he wanted to help her and have her first born child. There is a picture of Dan and Phil kissing on her wall
I don't think that's supposed to be them but does look a lot like fanart of them how weird!
can I just say, I LOVE all of your "fairy fails" videos they are proper funny
You should read the original story of sleep beauty. That is messed up.
I genuinely feel terrible for not discovering your videos earlier. They're sooo good :D
This is the version I was told as a child! What is the disney version like?!
I don't think Disney made a version of Rumplestiltskin
***** He also doesn't ask for her first born. Second, he actually teaches her how to spin gold so she can do it herself in front of the crowd. Third, she did it to marry the king's son, not the king himself. So minor differences haha
+TriAngelsMedia that's not really the disney version. Once upon a time always makes the stories very different from the disney classic versions.
yupsodapop ABC is owned by Disney, so technically it's Disney approved.
Ashley Collier I know that but when people refer to Disney versions of things, they refer to Classic Disney. Once Upon A Time is all about twisting the storylines of classic fables.
I love videos where your sitting on your bed, because it means your either going to tell us a story about something that happened to you or have a little rant about stuff :)
give me your kid
no
you made a promiss!
ahha i love that
also why did she only have to only spin straw into gold 3 times?
+Will orme maybe because he wanted to get as much gold as he could...(at least thats what I would do :P)
Love when you do videos like this! makes me laugh so much. Thankyou Carrie!
This is hilarious! The way you describe it is what kills me :D What alarms me is how he can just pop up and let his creepy self inside this tower and she isn't weirded out at all.
Until I watched this video I never realized all of this...You have enlightened me Carrie! ^_^
Your accent accentuated the story sooo much this time :D :D :D You are lovely, love.
You've got to do more of these and fairy fails!
I love the frustration in this!! There are some really weird originals!!! :LLL Great video!!! :D
You and Alex have the same type of humor, i love it
You're videos are always worth a look..they always brighten my day...couldn't she just have promised him another ring?
I could just watch you talk about all the fairy-tales that were ever created. This was so hilarious.
You have the best story telling voice!
I love you carrie! Completely agree with this, reading over old child's books and fairy tales and wondering why I was even allowed to read that...
carrie, thank you for ranting about things i am too wimpy to rant about myself. you're a legend :')
LOVE these! You should make it a youtube series to critically analyse fairy tales.
I never knew the story of Rumpelstiltskin but now i'm glad I do XD you should do this for all the fairy tales, they sound so much better, plus you save alot of time than if your read them :)
Haha you crack me up. I could listen to you talk all day.
I totally agree. Ignore them and don't change, Carrie.
the closed captions on this are hilarious :') ♥
LOLLLL. Just sitting here alone laughing at my computer. You're brillaint!
Oh my goodness. Haha! I think the queen should've given him a yorkshire pudding or two. It'll shut em up.
this is weird, ive thought a few times recently that i didnt know the story of rumpelstiltskin, and now here you are! and i have to say, this was a wonderful way to have it told to me:')
I never knew how ridiculous it was either thanks carrie for enlightening us all :)
"You made a promise, love." Best line.
That made me laugh so hard!!! I love you accent by the way, it is delightful to listen to :)
Oh dear god this is my favourite thing ever. I haven't laughed at a video so much in such a long time, you're brilliant :')
Also, if you're going to promise the King something, make sure it isn't gold. Kings can't get enough of that.
We need more of these videos!!
I just spent the last day and a half procrastinating by watching every single one of your videos. Needless to say I am behind on my schoolwork, and I subscribed. I enjoy you and, I look forward to more content
you should definitely make more fairytale related videos! loved this :)
"You made a promise love, thats not how it works." I love you. :)
I kinda felt that way too! Not their VOICES, but their arguments and thought processes.
As much as I've always liked this tale, I have to say that every little thing you pointed out is bloody true! Haha. And greetings from Lithuania, lovely Carrie! xx
Oh my god, you're so funny! I'm sat here laughing my head off on a bus, feeling a bit silly, but Oh man, you're hilarious!
This is brilliant, Carrie!! Some fairytales are so stupid - so I try not to think too hard about them xD
Hehe I love your videos! You and Alex are so funny and you guys are so good at singing *pinkies together*
I was in a fowl mood before I watched this Carrie you are hilarious! I never thought about Rumplestiltskin as being a 'twerp' before, I suppose because I never really had fairytales read to me. Thanks Carrie for cheering me up!! X
I heard he stamped so hard he fell through the floor of the tower and died. It's my favourite bit.
You make everything sound angelic omg -3
A few months after I had first watched this I heard the original an the whole time I thought of your story telling
I'm pretty sure you've always been like this Carrie, your personality is a bit like alex's. Which explains why you're such good friends and what makes it so much fun to watch you two hang out together :) And seperately your both very brilliant too, as you just proved with this video=)
Your videos are so original and so hilarious.
This was really funny when you talk about it like that!!!!! I loved it!!!!:)
My video froze at 0:24... you make an adorable face!
Omg. I love your videos, Carrie.
I absolutely LOVE your hair!!!!!
You left out the best part!!! At the and he doesn't just get annoyed he kills himself. I've heard a few but my favorite is when he jams his fingers into the top of his skull and tears himself open. XD
man 2 life lessons right there, that will come in useful when I take that first born next week
I always assumed that the King was in serious debt and that's why he needed her to kept spinning straw into gold.
The reason he wants her to do it again because then he gets more gold
Jesus, Carrie, you just became my favourite storyteller o:
You should do a series of this. Where you read the classic fairytales again and make a video about it like you did with this. If you did that would be amazing.
Ah Carrie you voiced my thoughts so perfectly! ;) xx
If you've made it a challenge to guess your name, don't make it into a sing-a-long.
Pure Genius
I think this is my favourite of all your videos :)
It's the rhythm that rumplestiltskin says around the fire :)
I've always been fond of the original Fairy tales. The most amusing part of the the story for me is that in most versions the song he sings implies that he'll eat the child,I always thought that it was a lot of work to get a meal when he could have just stolen a child.

when i was younger i used to watch this series on hbo called happily ever after and they showed most of the fairy tails this way like its closer to the original version
And I have seen all your videos, big fan x
I love hearing carrie rant about fairy tales xx
Don't forget the part where he splits himself in half. Logic at its finest.
I can't stop laughing! Brilliant video Carrie! You're amazing! -3
" she's done it once, she proved she can do it. Why make her do it again? That's ridiculous" my favorite part lol
Thank you for a great video Carrie!
I was laughing the whole time because I remember thinking exactly what you said the whole way through this story but I was about three:') my parents say if they even began to read it I'd get really annoyed at them because it was a stupid story:D
i luv these, they make me laugh so much!!! please make more!! xx
The fairy tale book I have also says that Rumpelstiltskin gets so angry (because she's guessed his name) that he grabs his foot and tears himself in half. I always liked that part.
tbh you could do this with any fairytale :) still loved it
This made me laugh :D I never heard the rumplestiltskin story before.
