As much as people have criticized this, I thought it was rather good. I saw this for the first time. I had no.idea they even made this. Good to.see some of the original cast. Miss Irene Ryan. She was the best.
He actually did play Jethro one more time in the 1993 reunion and mockumentary “The Legend of the Beverly Hillbillies.” That was a good production that also included Buddy Ebsen and Donna Douglas, as well as the actors who played Sonny Drysdale and Dash Riprock, reprising their roles.
I saw an interview with him years ago and they asked why he didn't appear in the reunion show. He said he couldn't think of anything less funny than a 40 year old Jethro.
Im 64 yrs old and watched Beverly Hillbillies when they were new. I have never seen this film before. Wow. I wonder what year it was made? It doesn't seem too bad to me...typical BH comedy. Just too much of Werner Klemperer. Thanks for the upload. I can't believe I've never even known this existed. Imogine Coca as Granny's ma?!? She's hilarious! Sounds just like Granny, it's eerie!

I watched this movie to see how very bad this movie was and it was not as good as I hoped it would be. I love the cute animals that they showed at the zoo and the monkey pushing the buttons. They should have left this show alone. They can not replace the old show especially Granny. There will never be another Granny but I Irene Ryan.
I just loved this show it was really great to see most of the original cast except for Max Baer who wasn't on here it was said he didn't want to be Jethro again because he was typed cast but this was still a pretty good movie just to see what happened to the family after they struck it rich it was great to see Linda Henning again and I really loved the statue that looks just like Granny whoever made it did a great job

Watching reruns of both Hillbillies & Petticoat Junction recently, I realize this was basically a reunion of both shows with both Linda Henning & Charles Lane there although in different characters
The pretty secretary was Linda KAY Henning. Hee das produced the original "The Beverly hillbillies". She also played in another of her daddy's productions, "Petticoat Junction" as the youngest Bradley girl. She was the voice of Jethro's sister jethrene on the Beverly hillbillies. On Wikipedia bio of this movie they used Linda's middle name and added an e at the end because her dad was worried that he would be accused of nepotism. Kay was her actual middle name. FYI- HER FIRST marriage was to Mike Minor (Steve Elliott from Petticoat Junction). They married a year after their TV wedding. The union lasted 5 years and it would be almost 20 more years before she would remarry. She was my absolute favorite on PJ.
As silly as the show is I'm glad I stayed to the end, what a great surprise to see who was playing with the great Earl Scruggs, fiddle player John Hartford and guitar player Rodney Dillard, John Hartford was an amazing musician,song writer and river boat captain on the Mississippi river,he penned the song,along with many many more, Gentle on my Mind,a song that Glenn Campbell had huge success with, I could go on forever about John but y'all can look him up he was amazing, Rodney was also a great musician that did some collaboration with John along with Rodney brother Doug, Doug and Rodney Dillard were also part of the Darling family band on the Andy Griffith show
All things considered it wasn't bad; with half the cast gone. Time isn't kind and all that. But bringing Klemperer into it was brilliant. And at least they didn't try to reprise too many roles with new actors, instead just added new roles, which was the respectful thing to do. The people making this at least tried to do right, with what they still had to work with.
Feels like Jethro's secretary saying she babysat for Ellie's kids is a callback to when The Clampetts visited Hooterville and Betty Jo who is the same actress Linda Kaye Henning also plays the secretary let Ellie babysit her little one.

The character of Granny's Maw was great but either the actress or the way the character was portrayed was all wrong. Also, she needed a name. Granny's Maw just didn't cut it.
Substitutes like “Fake Jethro” and “Fake Jan” just can’t win. He was hated before anyone even saw him. He did a fair job of imitating Max Baer Jr’s Jethro.

Well, leave it to the newer Hollywood writers to ruin a wonderful show. When did people start thinking that "stupid" equated with funny? And of course, they had to turn the show into a "save the earth," "save the animals" propaganda film. I made it to the 37-minute mark and gave up. Oh well, at least I've been able to watch non-stop reruns of the real show on Pluto TV. Haven't laughed this much in years. And I am really enjoying all the lovely dresses that Elly wore on the show. It's too bad we don't have such good writers today as the ones back then!

This movie got to dumb after. Klink did not fit into this movie at all. Now you put Drysdale in where Klink was and it atleast would have made it interesting... Whatever happened to Jeds millions. Truly disappointing movie that could have been a great sendoff or continuation.
Max Baer was angry because he was type cast as a bumbling baffoon. He just started not too long before his directing career and didn't want to get back into the character. Irene Ryan died in 1973 (8 years earlier) as did Raymond Bailey one year before this movie. He wouldn't be able to do this movie anyways as in the tail end of the television show, he was showing signs of alzheimers.
These reunion shows were almost always terrible. The one exception I would make would be Gilligan's Island and that's just because they could actually show them being rescued.

Even at the tail end of her life, though she is showing her age, still was as beautiful as her 60s television show counterpart. According to IMDB, Granny's Maw was mentioned as gone to her reward in season 7, episode 8 titled The Great Cook Off so maybe Granny's Maw should have been billed as Granny's Granny's. Might have over extended the joke but not more than Granny's Maw.
Worst movie EVER!!!! (it was ok to watch for the first time since I had no idea what it was about. But I'd NEVER watch it a second time! (and the ONLY reason I'm watching it THIS time is because Jed, Elly and Miss Jane were on it). It MIGHT have been better if Jethro had've been on it and it showed flashbacks of Granny AND Mr Drysdale (although I'll admit, I did laugh at the scene with the monkey when he pressed those buttons to get the girls out there. I loved the shocked expression on his face lol). (But the movie was also wasn't REALISTIC. Granny was an old lady on the show. How could her MOTHER still be there)?! And is that the same Chad Heller? (it looks like him, and he looks just as young/old has he did on the show, but must've been DEAD by now) That judge that "married" them was Shorty Kellem on the Beverly Hillbillies One thing I liked about Donna Douglas though is that she really COULD talk to animals! (I did like the song at the end though)
It was HORRIBLE. As well as the Green Acres return,,, was VERY Disappointed in it... Seen it once and NEVER AGAIN, its as bad as the Movie remake that came out. you can also tell that this was all in the STUDIO ...

A complete failure! Dull,boring,crappy acting and above all really bad scripting. Buddy Ebsen was still the same excellent. Donna Douglas aged a lot. It's ridiculous to not have her and Jethro with spouses and kids. My fav part of the original was the feud between Mrs Drysdale and the Clampetts. Now a storyline along those lines may have made this film watchable.

It MIGHT have been better if Jethro had've been on it and it showed flashbacks of Granny AND Mr Drysdale (although I'll admit, I did laugh at the scene with the monkey when he pressed those buttons to get the girls out there. I loved the shocked expression on his face lol).
(But the movie was also wasn't REALISTIC. Granny was an old lady on the show. How could her MOTHER still be there)?! And is that the same Chad Heller? (it looks like him, and he looks just as young/old has he did on the show, but must've been DEAD by now)
That judge that "married" them was Shorty Kellem on the Beverly Hillbillies
One thing I liked about Donna Douglas though is that she really COULD talk to animals! (I did like the song at the end though)

The Green Acres reunion movie was even worse. I'll just stick to watching the reruns. So much more enjoyable
The Green Acres reunion wasn't very good,but I consider this the worst of all.
HAHAHAHA the Green Acres reunion might not have been the best, but it was 1000 PERCENT better than THIS HORRIBLE MOVIE!!

this was awful it lacked the warmth and love of the original the replacement actors could not compare to the original miss jane tried to carry the show i loved her character but basically the Beverly HillBillies cast did cameos

A complete failure! Dull,boring,crappy acting and above all really bad scripting.
Buddy Ebsen was still the same excellent. Donna Douglas aged a lot. It's ridiculous to not have her and Jethro with spouses and kids. My fav part of the original was the feud between Mrs Drysdale and the Clampetts. Now a storyline along those lines may have made this film watchable.
What a waste of good film.
It seems like this show is a complete flop and i have no intentions of wasting my time watching it any longer........
