*Very proud of ourselves for actually being able to remember so many of the Yu-Gi-Oh card names even though they're in Japanese!* 😅 Hope you all enjoyed the Duel! Remember to leave a like if you did! We'd love to get 5,000 Likes on this video!
Paul guessed it, the cards behind the blank white card make up the side deck. It started off as exactly 10 (or exactly 0) cards before being changed later on to exactly 15 (or exactly 0). It wasn't until synchros came out that the side deck could be anywhere between 0 and 15 cards, inclusive. They also let extra deck monsters be in the side deck starting with synchros. Also perfect impression at 7:21
remember the original printing of last will? it's worded so weird. The effect reads like it last the entire turn when it gets played " if a monster of yours is sent from the field to the graveyard during the turn that you've played this card, you can select a monster with an atk of 1500 points or less from your deck and play it as a special summon. Shuffle the deck after playing the card. This card is active for 1 turn only." The way I read it is " when you play last will, you can special summon a monster from your deck with 1500 attack or less each time a monster of yours is sent from the field to the graveyard" Taking it literally, the card is broken as hell and I'm not surprised it got an errata multiple times before outright being banned.
Fun fact: Trap Master's effect is mandatory and isn't specific to your opponent. Alec would have had to destroy his own trap card when he was flipped up by battle. Not sure if that would have affected the outcome of the last duel.
This product was alot of fun to get our hands on and play with! But I still think prefer the separately packaged Yugi/Kaiba decks we got in the TCG. They still look iconic to me
This is how Yugioh was meant to be played honestly. Not "oh darn, my turn 1 was bad so I immediately lose." Like, that Trap Master into Castle Walls into Reverse Trap was so cool.
Look at them smiling while playing old school yu gi oh, nostalgia is a powerful drug that and the games used to have a back and forth in a slower since
I love the tag duel music at the start. I just remember fondly that when you have Chazz on your team, he ran ojamas and I did a random duel where I let him duel vs an npc and the npc beat him with destiny board. I could not believe it.
I once let the Xbox game beat me (Eternal Duelist Soul, I think?) on purpose when it was trying to run Destiny Board just so I could see the animation.
i dont remember losing monsters in attack position to monsters in attack position that use a spell or trap to gain more attack for defensive purpose. i thought they had to have the same number or higher without a spell or trap
this is way better then what we got. 2 whole decks for 2 people to play with or 1 person to make their own using all these cards? 2 game mats and some decent cards? so much better
in the manga, they had the special rules explained for battle city and duelist kingdom. Would like to see a video with those rules. Like, the specifics of those in 1-2 pages, not a character just kinda saying exposition here and there.
I kept watching, and wondering why those normal back and forth duels are so entertaining and I think I got! IT'S BECAUSE THEY ARE SIMPLE AND EASY TO FOLLOW! Unlike what modern day YGO is now....
@@mileystewart8738 the effect is mandatory, because it doesn't say "you can destroy a trap card" but "destroy a trap card", the only face down card being the one on his side of the field, he must do it
How is getting decks sold separately better than getting 2 decks in one box? Alex be tripping wild for that lol. I would have absolutely preferred getting 2 structure decks in 1 box.
@maximilianweber3743 Well, depends really. If the combined decks were as expensive as buying both seperately. Then having them split into two would be better if you only wanted... say... Kaiba's deck. But, if they were cheaper together than seperate. Then yeah, they had it better than we did deal wise. That said.... I have a soft spot for the asthetic of the Western decks.
I know they're sarcastically saying, "Don't you love old school caveman Yu-Gi-Oh." But I legitimately enjoyed this. I can't explain why, but i just felt more entertained by this than other, more modern, duels.
Hey guys love your RUclips channel! I am a old school Yu-Gi-Oh player. I’ve just recently gotten back into buying and collecting card again. Back in the day we used drool over holo cards, now it seems there’s so many of them. I am wonder if you guys can do a video on examples on what each rarity of a card is and some of the similarities and differences as well as an order of which is more rare?
It didn't affect the outcome, but there was a misplay in the second game. You can't activate Reverse Trap in the Damage Step since it doesn't directly alter the attack or defense of a monster.
Side deck in 1999 old decks, and we are rooting to get another ash blossom in a structure so the locals price the deck with +50% more of the original price?
We hear you. You're correct. But also this is the only time any of us are ever going to get to play Reverse Trap at all. So maybe, just this once, let's just let it happen. 🙂
@@TeamAPS Enjoy the decks. I also have my OCG Starter Deck EX-R which is the original reprint of this deck from Nov 2000. I'm glad you had fun with this duel. I only say this because I learned about the ruling back in 2007 against Armed Samurai Benkei OTK with a guy main-decking Rush Recklessly. I thought I was a genius, but I couldn't use it in the damage step. A similar error happened to me back with Elemental Mistress Doriado and Elemental Burst, which was a blatantly illegal activation.
I don't think you can play one reverse trap in response to another anyway, because of spell speed. It would have to be a counter trap, right? Would probably fly in Duelist Kingdom, though.

You all should duel like the first season of Yugioh where you destroy the moon with soldier of stone and make up rules
I will never get tired of seeing you guys play with Old School decks.
The blank cards are for your enemies souls
And their little brother.
And a random old guy
And Dead Lovers
Man we really need to hear the sub version of these duels. I bet it would be freaking insane.

the blank cards are obviously intended to capture the loser's soul
These old school duels are easily the best content on this channel
i swear these duels are better than watching some modern duels
It just _flows_ way better, really fun to watch...makes me sad that you basically can't play like this anymore.

I love when you guys play these old decks! I have never EVER seen another channel play these so intensely or even drawn as lucklily!!!
Pretty hilarious how much of a brick wall that Mystical Elf was 😂😂
No, that is just how fun OS yugioh was. I miss the days when Defense points actually mattered. I used to ave a chorus of sanctuary deck. Good times.
I hate her!
I was really hoping for the “My Grandpa’s deck has no pathetic cards, Paul” but in fluent Japanese.
Lol reverse trap was putting in the most work ever
It REALLY was though! 😂😂
🤦♂️🤣🤣🤣
Love how each turn doesn't spend 5 minutes each to use 10 main deck cards, 5 XYZs, 6 Links, etc.

I must say, even though there aren't a lot of spell support. At least you don't have to wait 15 min. For your opponent to finish their turn.

I'm actually surprised how good Reverse Trap was.
The cards behind the white card are the side deck. Back then, the side was only 10 cards, and the starters came with a side deck.

"What the f-"
It’s clear Konami cheaped out on that modern “2 player starter set” when they couldn’t even include a single mat or tokens.
