I was born and raised in the Missouri Ozarks..have lived here all my life. You are 100% correct. There's some deep dense wilderness out here. Alot of hills, bluffs, and caves, and criss-crossed with creeks and streams, springs, and various other water sources. Chris in the beginning that there's "500 caves", but there's ALOT more than that. Maybe 500 known and mapped caves. But a whole hell of alot more caves that are unexplored and unmapped. Missouri in general has the second most caves in the country, next to Tennessee. Theres literally thousands of them that haven't been explored or mapped, and who knows how many that haven't even been discovered yet. The state of Missouri in general, on down into Northern Arkansas, is a pretty big and rugged wilderness for sure. You are right..most people really don't have a clue just how wild it is here.

Ive lived in the Missouri Ozarks my whole life..born and raised. We've definitely got some very deep and rugged wilderness here. Alot more that most people may realize. Reports of bigfoot/sasquatch go back many decades. They're called "wood boogers" and "wood apes" here. The "MoMo" (Missouri Monster) is another name for them, but most people call them wood boogers or wood apes. The Ozarks are definitely a hot spot, and theres as much activity and reports here as the Pacific Northwest.

I’m from down southern Mo. After high school I went into the military and even though I visit relatives ever so often, I have never been back to live there. I do miss it and still call it “down home”. When I was young I’d walk in the woods all day on Saturday. Did I ever see or hear anything strange? Yes. But didn’t realize just how strange until years later as what I thought was happening was I thought I was being harassed by hill people as we were so far away from town. I miss down home. Now I don’t live in Missouri and I’m 60 years old and caring for my wife with pancreatic cancer. But my life is a life I would do all over again if given the opportunity. Sorry for the run on. I get nostalgic when talking of my old days. ☺️

Sir you are aan of adventure and I thank you for sharing. When I was a younger man my wife"s grandparents were raised in the bottom lands of Mississippi and in the country there were no lights except by the house and it was only dark. They both told me many stories of growing up with the " bears". Except they were not the black bears of teddy Roosevelt they were " hairy men" I figured out later. These folks were very God-fearing, and didn't lie. Ever. Thank you for the time and money you put into your work. God bless you and keep on hiking!

Comparing notes with MrBallen's episode about the Afghanistan giant, I think that the 6 fingers and 6 toes matches the Biblical description of the sons of Anak, a tribe of humans that were much taller and larger than most people. Also, Esau, the brother of Isaac and son of Abraham, was a very very hairy man. It said he was covered with hair, so much so that his brother Isaac wore a goat skin when he was trying to pretend to be him. So the genetics are there for a "bigfoot" who is actually human. Even 3,000-4,000 years ago (the time of Abraham to the time of them fighting the Anak in the promised land) those genetics were the minority.

My daughter went elk hunting with her hubby in the Big Horns here in Wyoming. They came upon a stacked pile of bones under a pine tree. They smelled something very rancid although they didn't see anything I think they came upon a hairy mans abode. It was a walk through the hills to that location and she says she doubts that she would ever find her way to that exact spot it was snowy and they had gone into the trees to get out of the wind. They found those bones and made tracks for the truck. That's the 1st time I heard that they were up in my local mountains. Happy hairy men making more of them and spreading out into our beloved woods. Hopefully we can make peace with them and be happy neighbors.

AMAZING!! So interesting to hear that someone took an opposite approach to one of these forest animals! It seems that they are just trying to make you leave their area by throwing the rocks, which NORMALLY works 😆 It’s a little scary that they still throw the rocks, but it almost seems that they miss on purpose?! I haven’t heard a story of anyone being hit by a rock…yet. 😳 Maybe those are some of the Missing 411 people!

I was alone camping at a dispersed site off a dirt road when I heard a very loud crash or thud. It was in the middle of the night a couple years ago. I was in my cot tent and listened for more sounds like foot steps, rolling or anything. There was none. I came out of my tent and appreciated the full moon and went back inside. It was the weirdest thing. It didn't sound like a tree branch and it was just one loud bang (not a gun). No cars. No humans. Didn't pay attention or took note of the regular forest sounds. Just decided not to think weird thoughts and allowed myself to fall asleep believing my angels were protecting me.
Anyway, now I wonder if I did have a Sasquatch experience. Wish I could describe that sound. I looked around the next morning and my site was down a hill next to a creek. Seems that anything that was fallen or thrown would have rolled but there was no other sound before or after it.

I spent my teenage years around West Plains, MO, between it and the MT Forest, and wow, I've had some spooky experiences. There were a few months in 1992 when something kept coming around our property and getting upset with our barking dog. I went out one night to call her away from it, saying, "Gypsy (dog's name), come over here!" In a deep, raspy voice, it repeated the command from the woods. I went back inside. I figured the dog can bark all she wanted. There were some other things that happened, but I'd rather not talk about them here.
But this is the first time I've heard such a story that was so similar to what I've experienced, and in the same area. I believe this is legit.

I used to hear them when I went on vacation up in eastern Canada. They sometimes sound like angry monkeys. If this creature was a sasquatch, or a wild man, or a wild animal, mimicking an angry owl is one way to get the message across.

I have barred owls where I live. Yes, sometimes the hoots turn into crazy monkey noises. The first time my friend and I heard one was something like 20 years ago, out in the woods, and it terrified us. We had no idea at the time what it was. I heard more over the next few days (I lived right at the edge of the woods), and realized they were owls. But for some reason the monkey noises they were making that particular year were crazier than I've ever heard since, and I still live in the same area. I don't know if it was something in the water or what, but they sounded like monsters that year.

I grew up in the Missouri Ozarks. There is a tale. During a skrimish in the Civil War, some soldiers stole a wagon full of gold and hid it in a cave and died before they were able to come back and claim it. Supposedly the area that this cave was located would eventually become Table Rock Lake. So if a diver was crazy enough to explore underwater caves there could possibly be a wagon load of civil war gold waiting to be claimed.

Hello Chris, just wanted to say hi since this is the first video I’ve seen of yours. I’m going to subscribe because I enjoyed this very much. There are lots of things out in the woods in the Ozark mountains. I grew up in NW Arkansas. I never had to be told to stay out of the woods at night. The hair on my arms would stand up straight when I was being watched. I played in the woods in daytime, but once in a while I felt hunted and left. My older brother was the same way and the only person I talked to about it. My mom, brother and I were woken up one night by something calling our names and saying come out. It sounded like a woman. We never figured that one out. I live 50 miles closer to Little Rock now and no woods around this property. I feel much safer. Thanks for the story. Brenda

I have to say that your stories have brought back several things that happened when I was a child and my parents took us camping all the time in northern MN. I heard a lot of the things people tell you during your talks. The rocks or tree limbs thrown against the tent, the odd animal calls, the woods suddenly going totally quiet, the feeling of being watched. These things all came back to me.

Very unusual and intriguing story. The owl and growl with the footsteps sound effects gave me the creeps. Randall indeed had a very unique way of dealing with Mr. Sasquatch. The fact that he continued to stay on the property was gutsy. I think he had old Bigfoot figured out. I usually watch your videos at night so they're even more scary. Great storytelling as always, Chris.

First thing I thought of was the terrifying "owls" encounter that I had in SE Missouri. I was pretty young, and I remember desperately looking for signs along the highway, but there was nothing to identify where we were. My grandfather had some relatives that used to run a spring for tourists, but it had been closed for years. This was the 70s.
They took us down, down, down, towards the spring. Then I hear some hooting and immediately a shiver went down my spine -- this was no owl! I'm pretty sure that I said so, too. There was a huge old barn down in the hollow, and we could look down and see the roof. The hooting picked up. I remember one to the north hooting to another to the south of the barn. It was like a warning to the rest.
The trail did not take us too close to this barn, but the further we went down the trail, the more hooting there was. At first, the hooting was around the barn -- and it became obvious to the adults that these were not owls. I stopped and would not go further. They went just a bit further when all heck broke loose. The "owls" in the barn started hooting. It sounded like over a dozen of them, and they were loud!
This hooting really started "taking off" -- extremely loud, and it started to sound like apes. Next thing you know, it sounds like a mad ape house. No hooting, just angry, deep, ape noises. We did not run -- even I knew better than to run -- but we got out of there fast! The noise was almost deafening. But, as we got back up to the top, close to the highway, the loudness decreased. They were still making the noise, just not as loud.
For a short time there, it sounded almost demonic. I don't think that they were owls.

Amazing story. Your eyewitness, Randall starts singing out loud to the bigfoot. It's the melodic tone that calmed it down. Why harm someone that's singing to you!
It's something I've thought about. The way us humans have probably amused and perhaps entertained sasquatches. With singing, also water skiing on a lake, it could be crouched down behind trees and bushes watching such activities. Who knows. Keep hiking.
