I did Wheeler Lake over Labor Day weekend. With the right lines using a good spotter, I was able to do it. 2018 JL Sahara with 2.5" lift and 33" (actually about 32.5") stock Rubicon take off wheels with KO2's. Bone stock Sahara might have some difficulty making this.
It took a few hours for sure, but we had around 12 vehicles and new drivers, so it took longer than it would have if we had just gone up with our regular 2-3 vehicles with experienced drivers.
This looks awesome! How do I come with? I ordered my first Jeep, a JLUR, hoping I get it by February. The lifted Subaru isn’t cutting it for some of these CO trails.
Taking a family vacation in October. Will be staying in Woodland Park. Any trail suggestions for off-road novice's driving 2 GMC sierra 1500s? 139" wheel base 4x4 10.5 inch clearance. Oh and children in carseats. Lol.
I've been wheeling colorado front range for 25yrs. The problem that you'll have with more difficult trails is that a lot of the old trails were made for smaller jeeps with tight corners and rock sections with tight turning. You will scratch the crap out of your truck with a lock wheel base. I wouldn't go up to wheeler lake this late in the year. It could be beautiful at the bottom and in an hour you can have white out snow and ice at the top (my own experience). Hackett Gulch trail is a good one near where you are staying, wide open with cool rock formations. It's down by woodland park. Wheeler lake would be about a 3hr drive for you. Slaughter house gulch is good and doesn't get snowy until later in the year but it's also near the near the Denver area (not close to where you are staying). I would highly recommend getting the " All Trails App". Then typing in the zip code at where you are staying. There is tons of good trails down in the Colorado springs/woodland park area. Also if you have kids, take them to "The North Poll" it's a christmas themed small rides amusement park with Santa Clause there. It's in Woodland Park area
@@denvermatt this is all great information. Thank you for taking the time to inform me and helping keep the family safe. I am considering Mt. ANTERO and Mt. BALDY. I can't wait!

Great videos. Keep it up.
Great video!
Hi! Nice video! How long did it take you to get to the lake from the beginning of the trail?

@@TrailTraveler bummer, no social media for me. I’ll just have to enjoy the videos.

SlaughterHouse Gulch is pretty easy to moderate.
@@thezmanz28 thank you.
