My 2021 honda monkey was my first motorcycle and I loved it. It got stolen right out of my apartment parking lot and was never recovered :( I ended up replacing it with a 2022 RE Himalayan but I still miss that little guy to this day.
wow, very sh***y, I hate thieves with a passion. Sorry for your loss.
How are you liking the Himalayan?
Man sorry to hear that, I keep mine in the garage chained to the Harley and lock the stearing.
Hey that was my first bike too and I still have it 😅
❤️❤️❤️LOVE THE POV RIDE ALONGS ALEX 👏👏👏
I did exhaust but that’s all with the engine as I want it to last forever with minimal extra wear from more HP. But I got barkbusters, mobbers, 14/37 gearing, Speedo healer, back rack, windshield, handlebar brace, headlight visor, fog lights, foam grip puppies over grips, t-Rex crash bars, and I’m sure I’m missing something lol. It’s a nice little tank that’s a joy to putt putt around on! Thanks for the vids guys it’s nice to see so many getting loved and used.
👏👏👏 68 mph .... This was a cool video Alex .. I even laughed a few times ... I'm looking forward to the rides in the snow too lol
Love the monkey. I have a z125 and it's a little slower because it's stock but plenty capable. I have 55mph country roads around me to get to the next town and it's ok for a few minutes till you get into town
Such a nice looking bike love that classic design
Hey bro, I have a 2015 Grom and at the time I lived in Jacksonville FL .Well riding from Daytona back to Jacksonville my stock Grom maintained over 60 mph for over 1hr ,even seeing 64 for half a second. I still have the same Grom and I haven't had any issues at all . I don't advise anyone to overspend on speed mods because it can be a big waste of money....also I'm 200lbs.
It would be fun seeing you ride it around that go kart course.
Mines a 20' Monkey and I threw the TB cam in it to help with top end and re-geared for more speed 14/32. Easiest cam swap ever and now I can ride my 45 mile trip to work with plenty of speed to spare. If I couldn't hold 65 people would run me over even though the speed limit is 55.
I'm the same with swapping bikes but the Monkey stays in the stable. It's treated different and stays inside the house during the holidays, I usually hang Christmas gifts from the bars 😂
Glad to see y'all enjoy the Monkey and you have the fastest color... BLUE
That's impressively fast for a 125. My Suzuki GZ250 has a top speed of 70-75
I enjoyed your video bro, I'm about to buy one to ride from milliken to longmont, I was afraid I couldn't keep up with traffic in Highway 66,
I keep up fine in a 55mph highway. It can hold 60 on flats or even get to 65 with good winds. Zero passing power and drops under 55 on hills
A mini moto can handle the highway just fine, The problem is that no one does the speed limit. Everyone speeds.
ummmmm
My 21 monkey only does 56 miles per hour down hill pegged, I got an intake, module flash and a black widow high pipe, since the mods the battery runs down while sitting and I have heard other people with the same problem? Yea the new ones have a five speed but they ruined the paint scheme, I’m very happy with the bike it rips up the back roads.
What are your thoughts on the Ice Bear mini moto clones?
Alex I notice that you generally ride in the right part of your lane. I always try to ride in left part of my lane, just to the right of the left lane marker. I always felt that puts you more directly in the vision of the driver of a following car and potential left turners from the opposite direction. Of course the center of the lane is where the slippery stuff is. What are your thoughts?
Good to know. I’ve been riding in the right part of the lane, 3 position. I felt I could escape easier if the car behind doesn’t stop. I see your point.
I plan to get a scooter or minimoto next year and take up camping in Quebec.
how are the valves ? chk the vacuum reading if you are running on full rpm most the time. Honda runs better when ran at 60-70% rpm range.
ridin those tiny bikes at the limit of their capabilities is awesome fun. i loved my ruckus but i think i want a monkey
I spent two years riding nothing but a ruckus. That time cemented my love for small motor motorcycles. I’m looking to get a monkey too
2023 owner and I got 56 once. I'd say 52 is normal tops for me. I weigh in just over 200 myself.
I ride my z125 on the local highway that has a speed limit of 45. I can do 50 with no issues, but any more than that is questionable. Fastest ive gone is 63, but that was very wobbly
I want one of these so bad
You need to put in Kitaco or Yoshimura' upgrades on its engine. It can reach 120 km/h with those.
Does riding at the limits on hwy give the engine a much shorter lifespan?
It looks like the zip zip from mkwii I love it
Neat mini moto. You’re just making the petrochemical companies happy buying that premium juice like most folks that do that.
John5xr has a video to show a possible solution to your headlight issue
Below 150cc as titled illegal on freeways and limited access highways in Cali. On-ramps are marked as motor-driven cycles prohibited. If not marked, OK (this is only in areas where there are no alternate routes available).
In nj it can go no problems
Dude if you're up in Westminster Colorado we should ride together sometime. I've got a 2021 blue monkey as well and I've got about 10K worth a month put into it. I'd love to be in 1ofyourvideos
Do we need driver license to ride ..?? I'm in Oregon State..👍
I got mine up to 71 mph on the highway. Love my monkey
bs
You're 300lbs and going downhill then yes
You and I have the same Monkey...'21 blue, no ABS. Question: I've been wanting a tachometer and am curious where you got yours? Thank you,
Takegawa has various tachos, or complete dash with tach, gear indicator...
@@AndrasMihalyi Thank you for this info - super helpful!
Can it? Apparently. Surprisingly. Should it be out there? Helluva no. LOL My 1st road bike was a Honda CM200.(pos) And while it was capable of being on the highway going 60-80MPH, the weight of the damn thing and my small frame, we were pushed around by even the commuter cars. The trucks, vans and semi's were scary as F. So, I cannot imagine wanting to be on that thing for more than local 35-45 mph stretches. And your roads are so horrific, I would not really want to be on them either frankly. lol But you know all this. Stay safe.
I never get up to those speeds 51mph is my best. I even changed the ecu,air box, muffler. No major difference..but I still like to ride it
Lose 50lbs
I ride I-64 about daily and before mods the traffic would swallow me alive. It really isn't as dangerous as driving through the hood though.
This in the hood is a candy cane lol
Sometimes it’s fun to ride a slow bike fast than ride a fast bike slow. Where have I heard that phrase? Oh yeah, on every single video of mini Motos.
Is it a semi automatic transmission? Or do you have to use a clutch in between switching gears ? Such a nice bike
Is someone able to point me in a direction of finding this exact bike without a clutch? I really prefer automatic so I can just relax during my entire ride
I think I read that the monkey bikes 2018-2022 have automatic ones but I’m not sure
I have been drooling over the monkey since it's release.
I can't find one.!! Anywhere.
All the dealerships is fresh out.
And the sell for 7 grand with those who have them .
I really want my monkey so I can modify it and turn it into something like yorn.
I looked and found one '23 Monkey Yellow still in crate in Long Island Honda dealer. Picked it up 2-25-23 at MSRP of $4,300
Cool. Now try it with Tommy's. ;)
I loved my Honda Monkey but I sold because I'm actually concerned about safety. I had it on a two lane highway, single lane in each direction, speed limit was 55, and I literally a sitting duck. It's OK for around town and trail riding but anything more than that and it's just too dangerous
you didn't put the list of accessories in the description!
Fixed, thanks!
@@TFLbike That's a great list. thanks. I have a 2021 blue one also.
Gear the sprockets for max speed! Tell us the results!
Man... I wish i had your ability to talk without breathing
I think the bike would be a blast but I still can’t wrap my head around sinking that much $$$ into making it something other than what it was originally intended. It’s the age old dilemma: how can I make my Honda Cub do 65? Why would you want to. Just get a better suited too.
Still a cool bike though.
Thats the ”expensive” stuff?!
Your gas prices are less than half of what we pay in Europe.
Congratz! OPEC really screwed us over, over here 😅
Wow. It’s so high. $6 gallon seems terrible. Oil companies are making so much money.
@@jbean530 Yep! They have had record profits the last quarter of this year. Inflation my ass 😂
Daaaaaaaannnggg only 3 dollars to fill it up ..
Mine is not fast enough for the highway and I only have an 8th mile of highway to get to the backroads and the speed limit is 60 so the idiots do 75 or 80 and its hard not to die on that 8th mile, I was going to trade it in on a XR650L but Honda is building white Yamaha motorcycles now with black wheels 😖looks like garbage and you can’t find a red one used in STL misery.
Oh man... I hate seeing 91 octane. lol.
no you can't, has to legally be 150cc in most states for highways, get a tender
You couldn’t pull 1 additional mph out of it for science?
Nice money pit.
Have a beautiful day Everyone ✌️
Top speed?
Mine get around 65 mph.
Top gear on most transmissions is 1:1
The mini motos are fun, but for $6k you could get a pretty decent used “real” bike.
In my country, you can't go on the highway with honda monkey. The minimum speed on the highway is 90 km/h.
My bone stock 22 monkey has done 70 mph downhill and holds 55 > 60 mph all day on the flat.
I think the biggest thing holding these little monkeys on top end speed is the weight of the rider. It’s not rocket science. On these little machines it makes a difference.
🤣🤣🤣bs
For sale now, huh? lol
Yes
But its not safe because it is difficult for the others driver's to see it
Too small
Bigger frame ,,,more Safe
Gotta lose the mouse ears!! I can actually see with my bar-ends.
Great video but a pointless test of highway riding if the bike isn't standard.
Think this is more just to show off your bike cracking little bikes.
I’m 6’ 1” 225. Should I get a monkey haha
I have one at 6' 300lbs
My 2023 Monkey won't even do 55 mph. I'm selling it.
My 2024 Honda Dax do easily 105km/h (65 mph)
Same engine as the monkey.
@@SandStormPowerTop speed in DAX 125 is 95km/h.
@@elsocio666 maybe yours. I had mine displaying 118km/h and then cutting injection (rev limiter), while going downhill.
On straight line I manage easily 103~105km/h no problem.
But then, I do have a wind deflector in it and I'm a pretty light guy.
I can see modding a Grom like this but in my opinion you destroyed the entire purpose of the Honda monkey.
Lol, please explain how he destroyed it. Just want to hear your views.
@@samlee7420 The Grom is a young mans mini moto just waiting to be modded. The Monkey is a retro through back that mimics the original. It's a shame to take away its heritage and completely remove its nostalgia. Just my opinion. To each his own I guess.
@@robertyoung8289 I have to disagree. Having a bonkers fast monkey is the tits. I had the ice bear clone with a rigid rear. Had a massive carb on it and a nitrous tank about the size of a 1liter coke bottle. Watching my friends roll it backwards was fun. And pulling it up in second was also quite fun. Lots of funny looks lol smaller than this bike too
They make a bunch of them so everyone can get what they want out of it. Your both right
Maybe buy yourself a better headlight. You know what would be sweet? Find a Hella light that'll fit it.
Daytona Anima 212... problem solved
Easy answer. NO
Not actual speed , use a gps then re-record this
Technically, as long as you are going faster than the “minimum” speed limit(if one is posted, if not posted, there is not a minimum) you can drive on the highway or even freeway. Too many people think you have to go at LEAST the posted speed limit or faster. The posted speed limit is actually the MAXIMUM speed limit. It is such that if the speed limit is 75 mph and you are driving in the left lane at 75 mph, you should never have to get over to the right. You should be travelling at the same speed as any other vehicle travelling at the maximum. That is the letter of the law. It’s not legal to drive 1 mph or kph over the speed limit (technically) so there isn’t a legal buffer of 5 or 10 mph or 10 or 15 kph. Common sense is exercised, but many people have lost that skill!! They think if 10 over is ok, they will travel 20 over, because they think they are somehow only going 10 over (ran into that so many times during a traffic stop). 😂😂. These people with their strange opportunistic thinking make it incredibly dangerous for someone on a bike that doesn’t want to go as fast as the speed limit. Texting and driving, distracted driving (like prototype hunting alone and chasing it while filming), speeding, road rage, poor driving skills,, there are just too many dangerous drivers.
So, in the bigger picture, you SHOULD be able to travel below the speed limit on the highway and freeway if your vehicle cannot go that fast or is not safe at those speeds. It’s a speed “limit”!
Good way to die.
Lots of bad info in this post. One major is 'keep right unless passing" is in the rule book so driving in the left lane is not OK.
@@hazcat640 - I didn’t say stay in the left lane, I said you could. If people obeyed the law there would be no need to worry so much about it. You didn’t read the post as intended. The entitled seem to think it’s their road and their rules. Absolutely keep right except to pass. It doesn’t exist in the rule book here, because it isn’t law. Different countries I guess. I enforced the rules of the road for almost 30 years. I tolerated no stupidity when I was on duty. I had a grace so it would allow for differences. If you had oversized tires and they were significantly different from stock, I wasn’t accommodating.I wrote the ticket for the exact speed so you know how much the tires make a difference. Plus it was always such a difference that it could be proven in court the subject’s speedometer would have indicated they were still speeding.
The hardest part was educating people that others did not have to drive exactly the speed “limit” posted, nor did they have the “right” to drive a “little” over the speed limit. I retired at the right time. It was getting harder and harder to get people to understand that.
What is the lots of bad info otherwise? Even as I stated it, if they are ding the speed limit and are in the right lane,,,, there legally is no reason to get over. No one else should be passing them. See that’s where the entitlement comes to play. You drive over the speed limit based on the content of your response.
Rusty Nail commented “Good way to die.” In cognito, not sure why people hide like that. People like Rusty Nail are the problem. Pay attention and obey the speed limit.
@@shitloveaduck OK officer . I’m sure everyone else on the road will obey.
I hate all that NOISE. SEE MEEE
