  • This is the first time taking the GoPro Hero 10 underwater and I've been wondering how shooting everything in 4K at high speed will really change things from the GoPro Hero 7. I figure a beach dive from The Big Island is a beautiful place to try it out as well as be a super relaxing and fun way for Alicia to do a refresher. The site, Old Kona Airport is less than 5 minutes from downtown Kona which is super convenient. However, hiking a few hundred feet with gear on to the best entry point is a workout. But worth every step for a great beach entry into the warm Pacific Ocean. We are immediately greeted by heaps of butterflyfish and yellow tangs (they call it the Gold Coast for a reason)! Our divemaster Katie takes the time to show us several eels including a white-mouth moray and all of this beauty as we swim through thermocline after thermocline. We booked this private refresher dive (with Kona Shore Divers) as it had been a little over a year since Alicia had been diving.
This channel is about the world of aquatic animals and inspiring one another to seek out experiences in nature.

Great Video! I'm actually heading to Kona in about 10 days and got a Go Pro 10 myself. Did you 4K 60FPS? Did you change any other setting for your shallow dives or just kept the camera factory settings?

Nice! I shot everything at 4K 120FPS, otherwise factory settings.

What was your white balance setting and color setting on your Hero 10 for the dive? Thanks! Beautiful video, well shot too.

Thanks! I used auto white balance and natural color for these shallow dives which did a great job to suite the conditions.

@@WetGills Hi, thank you for sharing! Did you try it in deeper dives around 20m by any chance? Just bought it but wondering if I should invest in the red lens filters for better WB potentially. The colours seem fine in your clips in shallow water though.

@@japanlego Hi Lego. Not yet, I need to test the auto WB on a deeper dive next time. Will you be using any external underwater lighting at depth?

@@WetGills Thank you for the reply. Currently I was planning to use only ambient light unless I record in a crevice or hole....Ill probably be doing 20-30m in two weeks and will give it a try! Although Im in Japan and tropical waters, so if the weather is good the light should be fairly good.
