This match was played during early access about a week ago and was my first attempt at Ruthless difficulty. I have gotten substantially better since then. I did not have Inner Fire unlocked yet, which grants 15% cooldown reduction for any squad member when killing with gunstrike or an execution. Without question a top 3 perk in the entire game. With that said, it didn't matter all that much. Vanguard with Melta is an absurdly strong class with high mobility, really good tools for shutting down Sentry call ins, and massive mixed horde clear. Strong in both PvE and PvP (Khorne berserker pvp video soon), I highly recommend trying Vanguard out with a Fencing combat knife and the 50% larger parry window perk at level 3. If you're struggling with the melee system, that will make defending yourself a lot more forgiving. Then you can just let swarms stack up and incinerate them with the power of the sun
@@SeekerOfKnowledge87 there are melta variants with a bunch of extra shots and bigger mag size. its really not too bad. basically you can just spam it at objectives when you have an ammo box. and otherwise just use it intelligently once the horde starts to get thick. havent had too many ammo problems
@@THHMC Chain sword has better cleave, Knife has better damage. The melee choice on Vanguard is basically just single target vs horde clear, and if you run the melta, you don't need more horde clear. So you run the knife to help shred elites and save some melta ammo.
Really love how this game captures the speed, agility and fluidity of a space marine fighting while still showing the weight and power in every step, watching this squad tear through the enemies really looks like a group of unstoppable super soldiers
Space marines are actually way faster than what they show here. Would be impossible to balance the game if they were canonically correct… would amazing though!
By contrast though it does not quite capture the speed, agility, and ruthlesness of a Tyrannid swarm as most enemies act like bullet sponges seemingly confused about the fact they need to fight. But it's awesome nonetheless.
@@casparvandeursen7125 true, the Tyranids here are essentially zombies, whereas in the lore the Hive Mind is an incredibly intelligent strategist. Even on tabletop (where they're still very much a horde faction) they're much more combined arms than how they're presented here, and big monsters play a much larger role. Still, this version makes perfect sense for a game like this.
I was hesitant to get this game cuz it's a bit pricy for me but this gameplay video just convinced me. Some of the attacks the way they sound and feel and the pacing, reminds me of the Astartes short movies. I do believe I NEED this game.
Would recommend getting the game. As it stands it's replayable with a lot of it's content and obviously it's not out until tomorrow but damn I got the advanced access and regret nothing. If you have played darktide it's scratching that itch that DT was lacking heavily but now I have to dawn good 40k games to swap between and looking forward to the updates
Exactly the build that I’ve been running. Feels awesome mowing through swarms with the melta and carving up elites with the combat knife. So damn cool to play.
From my time playing, as mostly only vanguard, the other primary weapons completely underperform compared to the Melta. The only real swap able item in your loadout is the melee weapon for this class. Knife is good to keep up damage but you lose your stun locking ability. While the chainsword has some “get off me” moves as well as your stun locking combos. And we all know the bolt pistol is supreme
I was going to comment on how tragic has an insane radio viice but then i heard the evo talk. As a current FGC player, this is like some crazy crossover stuff.
I love that about the game. That being said they most likely will, it’s tough for me to even get a purple relic for my weapon so I know the average player will never get it at this difficulty unless they get lucky in a party to carry them.
@@CoolSmoovieyeah I’d like to actually get a purple 😂. I’d say keep the difficulty but just tweak the melee combat and enemies. It could be skill issue but a lot of times I’ll get a parry pop up from a warrior and then the enemy will just do something completely different such as jump backwards or attack someone else so now I’m just standing there getting obliterated while my character does a parry animation. It’s small things that’ve made me and my friends irritated.
yes like Darktide! there is an AI Spawn director that will change objectives and boss/elite/ambient fodder spawns each mission, so each run feels different
I'm considering trying out SM2. As a guy who's played both this and Darktide how does combat compare between the two? I love Darktide for it's responsive combat. I've never been a fan of the Assassin's Creed/Souls type of combat (it seems clunky and unresponsive to me) and unfortunetely SM2 looks like it plays just like those games, hope I'm wrong...
Honestly, I have a hard time playing anything that's not the Melta Gun, because of the time window for contested health regen. Nothing else can heal you from 10% to 100% and heal your mortal wound in 1 shot. They kinda need to buff the contested regen on some of the other guns.
I played earlier and it looks like the melta gun is gone for vanguard and they made stealth changes to unlock ranks for multiple weapons as well as bulwarks heroic ability.
vanguard doesnt get melta in pvp, thats probably what you saw. Because it would be super op in Eternal War, just grapple someone, blast once and theyre dead. In Operations mode Vanguard still has Melta, i saw it like 30 minutes ago
Well it is a Melta after all and this is not even the version that can fire a Sun Laser beam at the enemy for a bit more range attacking or switch between the laser beam mode and blast mode.
Tbh the bolters in this game feel to weak to ever use, they might need a buff every tactical marine and vanguard I have run into playing the game has used the melta its the only way to get lots of health back from the white health bar bc it has a done of ranged dps output
I think Bolters are weak in the early stages, but once you get the grenade launcher attachment, it becomes just as good as the Melta but with better range. Bolter doesn't compete with Melta in the early stages, which sucks and honestly, I do hope they buff the weapon that is below legendary status.
Seriouslyh, seeing you guys go through these enemies as if they were the tiny ones on easy just shows how bad 99% of all the streamers are atm. Ive seen a group struggle with not standing in the green thorns and dying to stupid shit on easy and you guys melt the hard enemies on the hardest difficulty like they werent even there.
This is a bit too challenging when playing with strangers. I have cleared couple level 3 missions with strangers, and it was quite stressful. At least allow us to exchange the oranges weapon data with 10 purple weapon data.
Is it me or is the bolt pistol clipping into the hand more specifically it's more left then where the hand is it doesn't look like he is holding it correctly

How does the build handle ammo sustain? Melta has small ammo pool. Cool build!

One thing i do hate with that game is the characters not wearing a helmet. And is it posible to get the skull helmet some space marine have.
in the settings you can toggle between helmet shown or not
Certain classes have skull helmets, others dont. The Vanguard class they are playing for example has one.
They really brought back the least fun way to play the first game
I love watching your stuff but them other dudes would not shut up.
If they just went full live service i feel like this game would be insane even if it was just expansions
Melta needs to be slower to fire or have a bit less ammo i think. Its just too "meta".
I didnt know italian spartacus was so obnoxious lmao
I feel like vanguard gonna b nerfed
Melta needs a nerf to it's stagger, it trivialises the combat loop which is not what you want
So really the only way to play this game to get relic items is to spam dodge and use meltas. Seems like poor design
This is a brain dead take
if you think that’s the only way to play you must be failing in school with your lack of comprehension
definitely not!
It's a temporary "meta" that comes from any game. Balancing comes with a bit of time. Hopefully, they don't overtune like HD2 did.
