My favourite marinade for tofu and tempeh so far is 2 parts olive oil, 1 part tamari, and 1 part sesame oil. Garlic can be added too, or any other savoury you can think of.
I’m on my 2nd day of watching tofu recipes - you win. Pressing my tofu to cook later today.
This recipe is ridiculous! Both in ease of prep and deliciousness! I was snacking on them as soon as they came out of the oven!
Just used this technique to bake one package of firm tofu. The tofu was marinated overnight. It was Yummy!😋 My husband and I ate it all. We are not vegan but this recipe is making us consider it! Thanks for sharing the Delicious! 🙏🏽
Amazing, Lynn!! That is our entire mission-to make plant-based/vegan food that is so delicious that it doesn't matter what your "diet" is...thank you for sharing!
Ahhh such a good idea to marinate! Will try that out… Best 💚
I never got to use it in a recipe. It was so delicious that I kept eating a slice every time I went into the fridge. It’s REALLY delicious! I added garlic powder, onion powder and maple syrup to the mix. SOoooo good! THANK YOU!!
AliDu I have the same problem. Now I bake 2 boxes of tofu, one for the refrigerator and one for me.
@@pacaluvr7963 😁 me too!
I’ve been making this for decades! So simple and is a staple in my kitchen. I leave out the olive oil and add a sprinkle of onion powder then bake on parchment paper. Soooo good 👍
This is a wonderful way to do tofu! I will be making it soon! Thanks! 💜🙏🏼💜
For my baked tofu I let it set for several hours in a soy sauce based marinade in the fridge, then bake it.
I had 2 x 350 tofu in the fridge - used soya sauce instead of the tamarind and added some lemon juice (because I was told years ago that it helped absorb protein) to your recipe and I love it! I keep snaking on it! I just eat it as is….I need to watch that!
Thank you so much for this base tofu recipe!
That looks soooo delicious. Gonna try that too sliced in planks and partially slice a block and marinate that way or season as I’ve seen on your channel. So inspiring
This will improve my current baked tofu so much, I never get it crispy enough - thanks!
I just used this technique with the marinade from your book recipe for plant bacon. Freaking delicious and addictive even without any oil.
Thanks for watching
That's awesome! I'm always looking for different ways to prepare tofu and you mentioned sandwiches! I'm going to try this and make a sandwich with it.
Great staple recipe, thank-you. Easy to make ahead and use lots of different ways
I really liked this recipe! It gave me a fantastic base for a bunch of recipes. I love these simple but necessary recipes that I usually don't think of , so "thanks"!
What an awesome awesome awesome video THANK YOU !!!
Its amazing how much you can come to love tofu as the years go on after giving up meat. That’s my basic marinade except I find a little maple syrup to offset the saltiness of the tamari works the best.
I can go 100 different flavors with this base. Thank you!
YES! You got this!
Excellent! Thank you
So simples! Love it! A family member who’s not veg or vegan (he’s cut down though most animal products yay!) is asking about how to make tofu. So I’ll give him this recipe. Also I’ll try this myself 🤤… thanks!
Perfect thank you,I was looking for a meat subsitute that would work with a balsamic salad and sweet potato wedges. 😋
Also add garlic powder, smoked paprika and maple syrup
What kind of pan did you use? It looked like it had a grill on the bottom. Tofu looks amazing!
I love making tofu like this!!
Great video guys.
thank you!
Hey! Freeze the tofu first (in the package), then thaw it in the fridge, then do this recipe--or anything else, trust me!! 20 years vegan and never did that, but then learned and I've been doing that ever since, with every pack of tofu, no matter what I do with it. ❤️🙏 Please try it.
What does it do???
@@sydneymcwhorter2093 it sightly changes the taste and dramatically changes the texture.
Literally just had some baked tofu ( wicked style of course) in a wrap with Wicked Asian BBQ sauce and peppers
I'm definitely going to try this. It very well could become a staple. How long does it keep in the fridge?
Looks yummy I’m defo going to give it a go thanks 👍🥰
Thank you.
Making this today!
I have never baked tofu. Looks so yummy
It's so good! You have to try it. My kids eat it directly from the baking sheet and it's all I can do to have enough left for the actual meal I'm making!
We were looking at so many recipes and follow your brother. This is amazing. We made it tonight and will be making it again
Glad you liked it!! And thank you for all of the support!
Where is your little buddy taster...i missed him and looking for pot pie. Thanks for sharing all you do.👏🏻🤪
Thank you for sharing. 🇨🇦❤️
Can you freeze the tofu once you baked it? I'm kind of afraid the crystallization would hurt it, do you have experience with that? Great recipe though! @Wicked Foods
I've used a very similar recipe pretty frequently over the past month or so. I do have a one question and would love to get your opinion.
Do you ever use arrowroot powder/cornstarch in the marinade to help make this even crispier? Or is that something you usually omit?
I'm not them, but have been vegan for 24 years and eat tofu every day. You can certainly use a starch, I usually use organic potato starch. But, even better, freeze the tofu first, you can see my directions in a comment from today above.
I love baked tofu, but I don't always like the ones you can buy. I have extra-firm in the fridge right now. Guess I know what I'm making tonight. Maybe I'll use both blocks and freeze the extra.
Thank you for the video. This looks like a great, easy way to have tasty tofu on hand. 🙂 I searched for your Bahn Mi video tho and can't seem to find it? Thanks again for all the Wicked Kitchen content. 😋
This one? ruclips.net/video/w-IMu3q3K08/видео.html
🙁 I don't have any of those ingredients but I just put Thyme, paprika and oregano on my bake tofu everyday for lunch with Kale and potatoes.I'll give it a go 😊
How long does the tofu keep in the fridge/freezer?
Delicious recipe by the way!
I love tofu! Great recipe!
Thank you 😊
Awesome!!!
Great recipe! Question. Can you use this in a General Tso's sauce?
i marinade overnight, letting it soak in after a firm pressing. Love tofu! It has a bad rap, I can't get some friends to even try it, they make gagging faces. They are missing out!
can't wait to cook these and put them in a tofu burger. Wow..
Cool, want to see the recipe next, how to use it
Hey there, sorry about the delayed response! Here's the link to the written recipe (not sure if that's what you meant) wickedhealthyfood.com/2020/07/14/wicked-easy-baked-tofu/
And here's the link to the Lemongrass Tofu Bánh Mì: ruclips.net/video/w-IMu3q3K08/видео.html
Sounds fab!!! But please could you also give the temperature in Celsius? We don’t know Farenheit on our continent 😉😊
He said 375 'F which translates to approx 191 'C.
Ashish Khanal thanks 😉 I looked it up online with a temperature converter. It just would have been nice to get the info in the video.
Sorry about that! We try to remember to give both temps and sadly forgot on this one :(
Looks delicious. I love tofu.
I liked this I have never tried Tofu before, but would after seeing this, the only thing is I dont know what Tamari is you didn't say is it a Marinade sauce or an oil? Nice video
It's basically a soy sauce but gluten-free
I assume you can use the soy sauce as well
what’s the best way to store these?
Are these grilled or baked? I was very surprised when the tops were browned but not the bottoms. I also have a gas oven but I typically flip tofu halfway through because things tend to brown on the bottom where they are in direct contact with the baking tray.
Tamari? Sounds interesting
My tofu got sort of too chewy on the outside. Any solutions to this?
Will try this today - Couldn't find the Bahn Mi recipe - what am I missing?
Hi Elise, as noted we will be releasing the Bahn Mi as our next episode which will come out Saturday :)
Were I live we only have tofu or silken tofu 😭 I will still try it out 😉🌱💚
I wonder if you freeze the tofu then thaw , then bake it if it would hold up better for you with those softer versions.
Works with tofu:)
>le me
>watches Chad
Thanks Chad, this looks doable for a woke-up-too-early-so-might-as-well-make-breakfast idea!
I will buy some tofu today and try this recipe for dinner
Hope you enjoy it! This is a foundation method for prepping tofu that you can use in countless ways once you get the hang of it.
Website says 275 degrees, video 375 degrees. Got it in the oven per the video temp....
375° F is the correct temp...
Wicked Healthy I made a double batch, it is so good! Thank you!
I hope someone can answer a question for me. I am just having my first experience with tofu. What is good fresh tofu supposed to smell like right out of the package? This one I just opened has a strong chemical smell to it. It has even made my eyes sting a little. It is over a month within the use by date, so it isn't out of date. I am afraid to cook and eat it. Help please.
It is over a month within the use by date, it means it's expired, isnt it?
I buy fresh tofu from market and cook it before 2 weeks
If I have no tamari, could I just use soy sauce?
Absolutely I sub these all the time!
Did I hear potpies? Please share simple/easy recipe.
You heard it correctly! Vegan Pot Pie video is going to be released in the next few weeks!
Did he say "the olive oil is a nice Christmas"?
Hahaha, I had to go back and listen again because that's what I thought he said too! 😂😂
😂 I’m pretty sure he said “adds a nice crispness” 😀
For the rest of the world, 375F = 190C
Bahn mi tease!! *hnggg*
you should put them in a bag instead with the merinade, they will drink it
Oh, man, you gotta hold the spray oil can farther away from the pan while spraying. You can see on the video how it didn't cover the pan evenly.
No garlic! Evil
Overdone. Cut back the time a bit.
