This is right in my wheelhouse. What a great video about great notes! I can vouch for how hard it is to draw hands. Hands are famously difficult to render, a fact hilariously immortalized by Monty Python in their book, 'The Brand New Monty Python Papperbok'. This is my absolute favorite series of notes. I'm about to complete my series very soon with the 5 which is not quite in the grade that I'd really like, but it does look quite nice for the grade, and it's a fair deal for what it is, at the absolute limit of what I can spend, or feel comfortable spending. These things are really expensive and really hard to find because so many people want them, nobody gives them up, and the population is so low. They are absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for the excellent video. Well done, my good man! Well done!
Totally agree with you on how fantastic these notes are. The reason I don't have any is when you quote their prices. Somewhere in my memory of just a few years ago there was either a book on the BEP with, or a release of images, of their best work. It seemed expensive at the time, but when I see these I'm reassessing how nice it would be to have. These would be larger, art-quality pages. Maybe I'll find it at some point because overall there are a lot of BEP books available.
I am so glad I bought a set back in 1970's when they were still kinda cheap. I have a duplicate $1 but it only grades good. The 3 on this video are very nice.
Great notes...my personal favorite is the 1886 $5 silver certificate first time EVER "In God We Trust" appears on our currency and not again until the 30's briefly on the $1 silver certificate and finally in 1957
Actually when the motto,In God We Trust first appeared halfway through the 1935G series and the 1935H series, that was in 1957,there were still using old presses,at the same time they were using new presses for the 1957 series of silver certs
@@markjohnson9445In July,1955 Dwight Eisenhower and the joint resolution of the 84th Congress passed the law:Pub L. 84-140 which technically added the motto to all US paper currency
NET grades essentially tell you there has been major repair. the grade is what it would be if not altered so really it is a no grade. only EPQ and PPQ are untouched, original currencies. even straight grades without EPQ/PPQ have been altered but not to the extent of NET grades. currency gets more leeway in grading than coins probably due to the fragility of paper vs metal.
The names on the $1 certificate aren’t all signers of the constitution, but are simply notable Americans. After all, it’s unlikely Lincoln signed the constitution before he was born. 😉 I may be in the minority, but the $2 design is my favorite. It is beautiful without being overly busy. I also like a bill that celebrates two inventors/scientists instead of celebrating politicians. Fulton and Morse had a huge impact on our country, more than most politicians did.
Although there was no $10 note issued, the plates for it were produced. It along with the rest of the educational series were printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing on a series of souvenir cards that were sold at various ANA shows during the 1970's. This is the poor-mans way to collect the educational series.
These are absolutely beautiful. It's a shame we can't produce something of that level of grandeur today. The same can be said for 21st century coinage. They just keep getting uglier and uglier. Look at the new Jefferson Chucky Cheese token nickels, or those God-awful presidential dollars. Bleeech. These educational notes are true works of art, worthy of a grand republic. What happened to that aesthetic? The Dollar is the global standard, we should show off a little!, right? Design something with a little swagger to it. Maybe hire some Greeks or Italians or something.... 🤷♂
Could you imagine the uproar and outrage that if they tried to reproduce or make something like that today with the breasts etc lol. It's Sad because it's such beautiful artwork but todays society wouldn't allow that I don't think sadly.
Those are some of the (and maybe the) most beautiful notes ever produced. Why can't we have nice things like that today?
So much thought and beauty put into these educational bills, to be appreciated, thanks for sharing
Those are some great notes the old banknotes had a lot of style!!
Outstanding! Way to show the best. Great notes to share. Thanks Ben!
I'm fortunate enough to own the 1 and 2. I've never found a 5 I could afford. They are truly works of art. Gret content ben!!!
Just gorgeous - Once again Ben displays his cornucopia of the coin an paper money world

Simply beautiful.
Artistically splendid!
Gorgeous greenbacks.
They are just works of art. Wish they took pride in our currency now like they did back then as far as amazing artwork
Stunning!
Beautiful banknotes, but seriously untouchable.

Love the Education Series!
These notes remind me of Georges Seurat paintings, dots make art!
Customed light wand, cool!
I love the educational notes and your video on them. I have all three but not in that good of a grades.
Whaaaat no $10? 😂 great group of classic notes Ben!
Hey Ben! Have you ever did a video, "how to submit to PMG?" If not, I would love to see one!
Great video Ben!!! I hope to have a set at some time
Hey Ben what are your thoughts on the 1829 curl base 2 dime I’m considering getting one.
Drawing hands & heads are the first practices in some artschools.
The bank notes of that era are so undeniably beautiful and make everything current (minus the $2 reverse) look insulting by comparison.
Hi Ben. Does anything stand out under UV light?

The 1886 $5 silver certificate also had "In God we Trust " on it's notes, on the back on the coin Engraving.
@@667hodge that's why in my comment I said "briefly in the 30's thanks for looking

Pinnacle of our Artwork in Paper Currency!
We're the plates to print these saved or destroyed?

My fav. notes
“We chronicled our own pollution.” Haha 🤘🏽

Very difficult to counterfeit, unlike our modern paper!
and there is also a $10 educational that only made it to the pattern phase
Intricate elegance
Incredible video and your love for the artistry, history and features of this series is powerful. Thank you.
You failed to mention the reason the five dollar bill is so lovely is the nude bodies!
simp alert
