I can see by the way that you work your hand hole and spread fertilizer that you are a real farmer you know what you’re talking about. I appreciate all the help. I live in southern Arizona and I have a quite long growing season and I love to grow things. I will be watching you
Just stubbled across your channel. I Love that you promote children in the garden. We are doing our first garden this winter. My three kiddos love it! Thank you we will be doing peanuts now!
What a beautiful video!! I truly love the children encouragement and engagement in the garden!! Lovely! Thank you for sharing!! Happy gardening!❄⛄🌽🍅🍠🍒🍇💕❄⛄
This was a great and informative video. We live overseas and have brought some of our jumbo Mississippi peanuts to try and grow ourselves. Thank you for the tips!
Actually Valencia peanuts are smaller and Virginia/Spanish peanuts are the bigger ones. Valenica peanuts are usually smaller and usually come with 2 to 4 peanuts inside the shell. Where as Virginia/Spanish peanuts are bigger and usually have 2 peanuts per shell. Peanuts are mostly grown in the South due to the warmer climate, but if you live in a colder climate, then Valencia peanuts are the ones you should grow because they are a little better suited to grow in cooler climates.
MississippiRebel You seem to have a heap of information on growing peanuts (ground peas) could you pass along any information on how and when to apply peanut plaster?
Don't know about the climate, but I know you can use storebought peanuts, just make sure they're RAW and not roasted!! Remove them from the shells before planting (they'll grow either way, but a lot faster without shells), but don't remove the reddish-pink covering over the nut, from what I've read it helps them germinate. That might apply more to cooler climates... not sure... I"m sure this gentleman could answer that question!
+Sue Sue The white cover is a row cover. It's a breathable material used to cover crops for various reasons, this one being used to protect from squirrels eating the peanuts he just planted. Thanks for watching!
yeah anything thatll allow light and keep the critters from putting their paws, and more importantly.. beaks in there. Birds are notorious for plucking out freshly planted seeds.
Not sure if you tried growing them in a pot but if you haven’t then I wouldn’t recommend it. The flowers on the plant need to make contact with the soil to produce peanuts that is why the plants need to be spread out. If the flowers don’t contact the soil you won’t get peanuts.

@Bruce Thomas - I don't really use peanut plaster. I will add a little lime but that isn't the same as peanut plaster.

Me and the wife are going to grow some peanuts 🥜 this spring in our raised beds. Thank You. Can roasted peanuts be planted?
Hi how many days would it take to germinate?
Where do you buy your peanuts? Store where they sell seeds or nursery??
HOW ABOUT USING ASH FROM BURING WOOD WOULD THAT WORK
Would grounded egg shells work for adding calcium to the soil?
Phyllis Woods-Harris, yes, my friend! They'll do the trick!
No water?
Did you use peanuts from the store or order them as seeds? I live in CT zone 6a. Can I grow them here? Is it too cold?

bookguitarguy thanks for answering a question I had about planting the seed. I didn’t know if I had to shell it first!
can you explain what the white cover was? is it a sheet or plastic, I misunderstood that part thanks!
+Sue Sue The white cover is a row cover. It's a breathable material used to cover crops for various reasons, this one being used to protect from squirrels eating the peanuts he just planted. Thanks for watching!
Would screening/mesh material work just as well (fine enough to prevent squirrels from digging through it, of course)??
yeah anything thatll allow light and keep the critters from putting their paws, and more importantly.. beaks in there. Birds are notorious for plucking out freshly planted seeds.
When is the best time to start peanuts indoors in south central Oklahoma?
What variety of peanuts are you looking to start growing?
Jumbo Virginia is what I have.
Mmmmm. Boiled peanuts!
Hello, is it possible to grow this in a pot? Thanks !

and leave the paper on the peanut when planting.
Did you mention supermarket peanuts are not good for planting because they are roasted, you need raw peanuts for planting.
