Not sure if you are aware but in order to put the Pill into Lossless mode, you have to hold the power button down while plugging the USB-C cable into the pill. And believe me when I say it's a pain because it works like 30% of the time. That being said the Pill works great with macOS even as it has a huge integration including new menu bar icon and a setting within System Settings. My opinion is there is not a huge difference between Bluetooth and lossless when using it with my Mac. In Apple Music I notice over bluetooth it tops out at 16bit ALAC and in lossless it does 24bit ALAC. It's the best speaker if you are in the Apple ecosystem. Some bad things though are when you have the pill hooked in lossless mode, it seems the microphone doesn't work at least on macOS and iOS, could just be a bug though as I'm running the 15.1 and 18.1 betas.
Hi! I’m looking to buy it to use as an external speaker for my Mac. I currently use an Echo Dot 5 in Bluetooth, but I hate how I have to connect to it every time… is the beats pill just plug and play if I want to always use it over USB C? Is it good for watching videos and movies?
I agree with you after trying many of these devices. The Bose is a very polished product vs competition (and I also hate Bose stuff). The Emberton 2 is also a favorite. I also like the NYT Wirecutter's favorite Wonderboom 4 (not as full as the others mentioned but open sounding and powerful enough for sitting outside at the dinner table or listening to podcasts..
Hey Danny, people tend to claim that Anker is the budget equivalent of many of these speaker models. So, would it be possible for you to check out those speakers as well, and give your views on the overall comparison side of things?
Anker makes pretty good stuff, I don't know why exactly but they kind of turn me off as a company and seem to value paid reviews over honest ones. Similar to what @alanross had mentioned.
Would You consider reviewing Harman/Kardon speakers? Especially the Luna and the latest GO+PLAY. I have the first gen. GO+PLAY and I consider it to be one of the best sounding portable speakers. It is a pitty that they are missing in Your comparisons.
Beats pill is great! Not better than bose flex but bout even with jbl flip 6. Overall its a winner IMO and worth picking up if ur a collector like me. Great work Danny!
The pill is very clear, sounds a bit flat, but the JBL and Bose sounded the best, and with smaller speakers losses does improve bass and a clarity just slightly. But it's not bad at all
Listening on RUclips through a headphone.... And it is recorded via a mic in a room.... It is very Hard to judge. Physically they are going to sound very different.
@healthywealthymillionaire9486 of course it can! Anything sound your phone would make once connected to the beats would play through the speaker. This goes for all bluetooth speakers.
@@DannyPops hopefully the Emberton lll will at least sounds better, doubt it tho.. couldn’t find a comparison or REALLY look into it. just noticed a microphone.

Yes, the BOSE Flex sounds better, and it's also flatter in the bag. 😊
No it doesn’t
I have both the new pill and the flex, the Bose sounds flat when compared to the new pill
In any case, we all have different hearing, that's a fact. I've been to several hearing tests, and there's a certain part or tone that I can't hear.
Yey! for including Daddy Pops!
Super review Danny! When is Marshall Emberton III?
Yes please
It's coming. They don't release until sep 9. I don't get any special privileges to see it early.
@@DannyPops Waiting...
Thanks for making this video👍How does it compare to the Bang & Olufsen Beosound A1 or the Beoplay P6 ? 😀

@@DannyPops Thanks for pointing that out. It's good that more attention is being paid to such practices.

Hi Danny, ime going to buy either the beats pill or the bose soundlink max, wich do you recommend please, thank you.
I got 2 pills for 100 bucks each. It's 50 bucks of from it's original price tag so I saved 100 bucks for both
Soundcore Motion 300 and Bose Soundlink Flex have the most balanced sound. The Marshall has the most detailed sound compared to all.
hi, can you please let me know where I can order neon light that is behind you, it looks very nice , thank you sir :)
Danny Pops Can it play The RUclips on a I phone 📱?
@healthywealthymillionaire9486 of course it can! Anything sound your phone would make once connected to the beats would play through the speaker. This goes for all bluetooth speakers.
@@DannyPops ok thanks
What about the call quality?
I don’t like the looks of it but I like the feels of it. 😂 Emberton is still easier on the eyes for me.
@@buttoneyesO_O the emberton always wins the beauty contest

Beats pill or emberton II? Both $100
The "Pete's Bill" @3:56 -- my brain sometimes does that too.
I know lol.
This reminds me of the B&0 A1 as far as performance goes
emberton 2 vs emberton 3
Bose is probably the oldest in this group but it sound better
It's grandpa pops
Brane X please 😊
They said one is shipping to me soon. Can't wait to check it out.
