Hello ladies! For today’s challenge, we want to see if you can be fabulously high fashion and model PayLess shoes while uncovering the sad mystery behind the ghost of a little girl who’s been trapped down a well for years and causing gruesome deaths via a haunted videotape! This is something Tyra herself had to do in her early years modelling in Japan. Good luck!
The German version of the show had Bruce Darnell as a coach for the girls. He'd teach them instead of setting them up (at least that's how it seemed on tv) and really loved the girls. It was horrible when he left the show. I haven't watched it for years but some of the photographers, judges and coaches from clips I saw remind me a lot of that Jay guy.
As a working commercial model I can say that a lot of my auditions request improv and these are for big brands. However, I am trained in improv and have some acting experience. Not every model is interested in commercial modeling. ANTM loved to blur the lines this way to make "entertainment".
God I cannot believe this show was aired on national television, it’s almost psychologically torturing the ladies for a tv moment Tyra should be ashamed of what she put those girls through.
Sadly this is the type of stuff that sells, otherwise they wouldn’t have a show like this. From what I’ve heard from Jayla C5 is that the models are literally forced to give them drama for ratings or otherwise they would kick them off for being “too boring”.
I've always thought the only reason Tyra started that show was to have an opportunity to put young girls through what she went through as a young model. She is a monster
@@Sakja Nah, Tyra does not care enough about these girls to "put them through what she went through". I don't think she gives them a second thought once shes off set...She is your standard cold, detached reality TV producer.. She doesn't need some deep reason to want to do this stuff...She just wants to exploit the free labor for self promotion, ratings, and profit. And the person behind most of this nonsense is actually exec producer Ken Mok, who for sure isn't "putting young girls through what he went through"
WHAT??? "Too skinny and no bust"? What is he talking about? Aren't models supposed to be skinny and have no, or at least a small-ish bust? Super strange. Maybe Nigel just happened to blurt out his personal preferences.
I know from Project Runway how much designers hate when runway models have ANY curves lol, ‘too skinny and no bust’ has been the sought-out body in high fashion for decades.
Looking back if Danielle speech was such a problem, then they should’ve hired her a speech pathologist to help her correct it. They fix their hair, clothes and even fixed her teeth later, but didn’t help her with her speech and complained about it the whole time. Clearly it wasn’t that much of a problem since she won.
You can tell who was favored to win by how Jay treated them. Like he was messing with Brooke and harder on some girls but with Danielle and Nnenna, he was slightly more helpful.
Jade the LEGEND emerged in this episode! 🤣 "Wonderful fabulous!!" I could not stop laughing at this! The drag queen music. The walk. The swear! Danielle putting the glass back on the plate. Joanie's "DEH". 🤣 Mollie Sue's toughness. Even Tyra was funny with her one liners in this episode!
I don't know why, but Tyra really had a problem with Danielle. Always picking at her southern accent and the gap between her teeth. Maybe because Danielle told them no when they wanted a dentist to close her gap, but she always nitpicked the poor girl.
AND some seasons BEFORE or AFTER...she had one of the models to go the dentist to MAKE a gap between her front teeth! Tyra always had so conflicted wishes for the models that they could never win/get her satisfied!
They're pretending that professionals have to do it in 2 takes as well but that's bull. Those actors get to practice too and they will get as many takes as it takes because the commercial need to pay perfect! If both takes were so bad... it's on the director not the model. Insane.. damnn
Exactly! No matter how funny and iconic some of her moments were on the show, she really was nasty to Gina and broke her down and after Gina was gone she went after some of the other girls too.
If Brooke is a trout then she's the most beautiful one I have ever seen. But she's not. And they made such a big deal about Dani's gap and accent this whole season, it was ridiculous. Also crazy how much "drag queen" was used as an insult in this show considering how huge drag queens have become and how stunning they are.
I remember watching this when it aired and being SO CONFUSED because Brooke was absolutely GORGEOUS to me. And here these bozos are laughing at her. DIDNT YOU GUYS CAST HER FOR A MODELING SHOW??? LIKE WHAT?
I laughed so hard not veronica mars. How is being an extra for one episode on a trendy show at the time that could get cancelled at any time help you with your modeling career??
I personally found Mollie-Sue's delivery charmingly awkward. It was very real. And it wasn't a BAD approach, just a different one than what everyone else offered up. She covered up her own shortcomings with her personality. That actually shows quick thinking and (oddly enough) the ability to improvise.
I can't even imagine the state of their mental health on this show. I grew up watching this in high school, picking up so many insecurities myself from the awful things they'd say. That manipulation Tyra worked up with making Jade believe she's playing a "blame game" without even seeing the other take was insane!
I don't know how old I was when I'd occasionally watch (20's/30's), but I never picked up on it. I probably agreed with everything the panel said and thought it was insightful. Ugh. I think it's mostly my naive personality, but society didn't see a lot of that as being wrong back then.
If I am honest? Out of all of the model's shots, Jade was the best to me for multiple different reasons. They said to improvise, she did. They told her to sell herself and she did. She was compelling. Even if it was just a walk with her saying nothing, she still told a story through her movements with grace and with style, it was actually pure magic to watch. They did Jade a great disservice by telling her it was not good, that was a pure model walk right there.
Didn’t they do a second take, where Sara didn’t have the drink? Jade, twirl, clomp, fabulous, clomp clomp, F bomb. Best take? Most entertaining take, yes.
This episode had the funniest commercials in the entire show (other than the Covergirl commercials they did in Cycle 10 where they had to speak Italian 😂).
I didn't realize at the time how toxic that environment was for those young ladies. Talking about facial features, someone's accent, and how big someone's breast are is so out of line and disrespectful. I hope all the ladies have healed in some way from this nice nasty bully behavior.
I watched this show as a kid, and I loved it then. Now, however, I find it so horrible and clearly it traumatized, belittled, and show how terrible the panel of judges are. Laughing at people like they were is so rude. These are young, beautiful girls being treated so awful. I really hope they were able to heal from this show.
there's no way for her to win. if no girls raised their hands it would be "see you're the only one complaining," but they did raise their hands so they have to twist it like "see it's not just you, why are you making it all about you?"
There was a lot of animosity towards the black women as well. Danielle got told she was too southern even though Tyra apologized to her later and say she was wrong, AND Lauren from the 5'7 under season had a VERY southern accent. Nienna got told she was mean even though she wasn't at all, Faronda got told she was too skinny and had no boobs, yikes.
Tks so much for calling out this horrible people. They aren’t there to do a good job with those young ladies, they are paid to create drama out of thin air and select the top model that was decided since the beginning.
This episode still cracks me up every single time. all of them had such funny ads. Both of Jade's takes were bad. but it was still yeah, they purposely picked her worse ones for the maximum laughs and humiliation.
I think danielles accent was fine. you can understand what she's saying its not like its such a strong accent where she is not understandable, and for a commercial it actually gives her a bit of personality. Covergirl is supposed to be about being kind of like the 'girl next door' relatable etc.. i would think it would be a good thing to have personality shine thru for that brand and her accent is part of her personality. i didnt notice anything wrong with danielles commercial, she was one of the better commercials , she felt natural and she did a really great job.
It's plain and simple abuse. I know they signed up for it, but they did not deserve it. Any of it. I hope in hindsight these judges have remorse and feelings of shame and at minimum have made reparations to some of these models who I know for a fact left damaged - some of these words and actions can stay with you a lifetime as a weight of never feeling or being good enough.
I never understood the commercials they make. I’ve never seen a commercial where it shows one person walking and talking for the whole thing. Especially not for makeup. And a company like CoverGirl would never waste time/money like this for models to ad lib.
The amount of times I went "oop😮".. at Jessica's opinion of Mr.J's Unprofessionalism for a lack of better word 😂... I need a "oop" counter😂.. SUBSCRIBED!!😂😂🎉🎉❤❤❤
It’s really annoying when the judges insult and negatively criticize all of the girls (in every season) natural body features and intentionally make them feel insecure. I love all of these girls’s natural beauty!
I feel like Tyra's "apology" to Furonda was toned toake fun of her reaction (you can see a reaction on her face of embarrassment when Trya mentions it) I feel like it should have been handled as more of a one-on-one and not at panel
ANTM was pure evil. I don't know if there was a professional psychologist designing the setups for failure or if just it came naturally for Tyra, J and the rest to be this messy and diabolical. 😮
The judges really did that model dirty. The fact that Tyra had to make such a lame excuse about being on Victoria's Secret and choosing the wrong shot" and "not being 100 percent happy as a model." Being on Victoria's Secret is not the same with ANTM. Good that that model knew her rights and stood up to those entitled judges.
I wish the tables were around instead of them being the judge, they being judge, and I know, for a fact, they cannot take criticism. They will get their feelings hunts
Btw Jessica, did you know that Mr. Jay also hosted Canada's Next Top Model? I'm interested in seeing you examining some of their photoshoots. One of my favorites is this beauty shoot they did for Cycle 2 that involves seafood as a statement accessory.
I’ve been waiting for you to react to this commercial lol. Jade and Joanie’s takes will forever be entertaining and iconic 😂 “Hey guuuurl! Wonderful fabulous”. “Make it through the deeeeh” lmao
Could you possibly do a video reacting to 'The Face' with Naomi Campbell? I feel like it's ANTM but ACTUALLY helpful and far more realistic. It's so interesting comparing the two shows
Hearing you talk about and question why the brand (Covergirl in this case) doesn't care about their own commercial made me realize: The Brand probably doesn't care because they made a product placement deal, not a tv commercial deal. The entire episode is the Covergirl commercial. They say it a million times, the product's in every other frame. The reason they don't care about the quality of the commercial the girls are filming or if there's drama or unprofessionalism is because literally they're just letting ANTM use this premise in exchange for product placement and a more dramatic episode means more eyes on the product.
Btw it's freaking crazy that they got caught picking the worst takes for multiple girls and turned it into "Haha yeah we all feel that way sometimes" as if the models just mean it wasn't their favourite take, vs objectively a worse take.
Looking back on that portion of the episode and knowing what I know about videography and sound engineering it was really the engineers job to make sure the sound was correct so her words could be heard. Also they should have checked the sound on each model before starting to film. It’s so crazy how they love to blame the models for people messing up their jobs on set.
That almost sounds like Tyras trying to say, "listen and learn from this experience" as if this was a warning and there will be no next time "keep your opinions to yourself .. or you can leave" It's crazy to rewatch and see how blatant they were with their motives
I always found it weird they wanted the models to improvise because the client would want a certain message communicated. Only reason for the improvisation was to stress out the poor models and allow the judges to rip them apart.
Why is Danielle's accent such a problem and they want her to have "a normal accent" yet Nnenna has a slight accent, but its okay because shes from a different country, as opposed to just a different state? Both accents are great, they're hating.
Loved ANTM. It was a competition show. They gave raw feedback that wasn’t always easy to hear but they could only give so much direction. Their challenges and feedback were in line with the modeling industry during this time. Tyra knew what she was doing…
When I was doing my modeling school we was learning 90% different things about face makeup clothes and 10% modeling like I was confused but it did give me an opportunity to learn more about things i didn’t know
Sundai really did give such a positive outlook on her experience. Sure it was toxic, it was in no way what modeling is really about, but her delivery is balanced. I felt the pov became objective. Hope she returns. 11:35 Mr. Jay would never be looked at objectvely now. I can sense he also is in a lot of pressure from the producers. They provide the photoshoot/videoshoot concept and he must critic at least half of them to make good reality tv. It’s not all Jay’s fault everytime. But then again, that’s what happens when only looking at the bad parts, being objective just gets lost in thought.
I can totally see where you’re coming from. I’m a no way defending Mr Jay Manuel on this, but even I think that he is somewhat forced to go along with whatever production tells him to do or say, just for the sake of good TV. On ANTM, it’s always a reality TV show first and a modeling competition second. And I also like to validate all of the model’s experience on the show, whether good or bad, despite focusing on the not so good parts of ANTM
Naomi was toxic and problematic too. Especially in the face australia. The way she treated her fellow judges is just....no Edit : uhhh why was this posted here, i was posting to another comment...RUclips hello?
@@elchamo8849 We can’t really defend Jay much since he did so much manipulation (in a way), Jess couldn’t see through that anymore. @@swooningtree You're not wrong though! 😂

jays like HR. Not actually there for the employees but to protect the employer.
To give the employer videos they can poke fun. He should be giving them confidence...not tearing them down.
Exactly. And they ask, or your agent/manager asks if you're comfortable with improv before hiring you. 🙄 it's standard. 🤦🏻♀️
God I cannot believe this show was aired on national television, it’s almost psychologically torturing the ladies for a tv moment Tyra should be ashamed of what she put those girls through.
It was Tv entertainment
Sadly this is the type of stuff that sells, otherwise they wouldn’t have a show like this. From what I’ve heard from Jayla C5 is that the models are literally forced to give them drama for ratings or otherwise they would kick them off for being “too boring”.
I legit think Tyra is just a sadist. Even on the Tyra banks show she was evil. My sister was a guest one episode and god damn… 😬
And to say that with Twiggy right there, who was a waif and influenced a lot of women to try to be waif-like in an unhealthy way.
But the thing is nothing is wrong with her speech, Twiggy has an accent but nobody says anything about that you can’t help where you’re from
You can tell who was favored to win by how Jay treated them.
«No one in ANTM is taking ANTM serious, except for the models» Preach.
Joanie’s “mek it through the dehhhh” lives rent free in my head, one of the funniest ANTM moments of all time!
I don't know why, but Tyra really had a problem with Danielle. Always picking at her southern accent and the gap between her teeth. Maybe because Danielle told them no when they wanted a dentist to close her gap, but she always nitpicked the poor girl.
Tyra can be a hater at times.
Tyra tends to hate dark skinned Black contestants.
@@legsnhipsnbawdy I would agree but it was like Nnenna could do no wrong this season.
I love things like that it made her unique
AND some seasons BEFORE or AFTER...she had one of the models to go the dentist to MAKE a gap between her front teeth! Tyra always had so conflicted wishes for the models that they could never win/get her satisfied!
They're pretending that professionals have to do it in 2 takes as well but that's bull. Those actors get to practice too and they will get as many takes as it takes because the commercial need to pay perfect!
If both takes were so bad... it's on the director not the model. Insane.. damnn
Jade was an awful person, she bullied a lot of girls specially Gina (and no, it wasn't the editing) . She was right here though.
Exactly! No matter how funny and iconic some of her moments were on the show, she really was nasty to Gina and broke her down and after Gina was gone she went after some of the other girls too.
YES!!!
Nnena was just as bad.
@@AhegaooPrincess Agreed. Except Nnenna had none of the comical moments Jade did, she was just a boring, snobby, mean girl.
She was just a bully. She did get what was coming to her. This show was awful how they did many of the girls, though.
@5:32 You can just see in the guys' eyes that he is trying to telepathically tell her "dooontt take the drink. It's a traappp" 😂
100% 😂
If Brooke is a trout then she's the most beautiful one I have ever seen. But she's not. And they made such a big deal about Dani's gap and accent this whole season, it was ridiculous. Also crazy how much "drag queen" was used as an insult in this show considering how huge drag queens have become and how stunning they are.
Stunning?? 🤣😂🙄
I remember watching this when it aired and being SO CONFUSED because Brooke was absolutely GORGEOUS to me. And here these bozos are laughing at her. DIDNT YOU GUYS CAST HER FOR A MODELING SHOW??? LIKE WHAT?
The judges remind me of toxic supervisors, they always find something wrong.
“And you’re gonna be on Veronica Mars” lmao the soundbite
iconic
I laughed so hard not veronica mars. How is being an extra for one episode on a trendy show at the time that could get cancelled at any time help you with your modeling career??
@@rachzainhassit's still an opportunity...
Yeah I agree. I could picture a very effective commercial cut out of her silent take, they just needed music and better camera work.
Didn’t they do a second take, where Sara didn’t have the drink? Jade, twirl, clomp, fabulous, clomp clomp, F bomb. Best take? Most entertaining take, yes.
Saying Mollie-Sue has no personality is an insult. She was robbed.
well is one of the most successful models from ANTM after the show...so personality issue....i think not..just BS from Tyra and production
@@swinto4795 exactly. She's amazing. ❤
A model is literally there to make the product look good. They aren’t in charge of marketing 😭😭😭
This episode had the funniest commercials in the entire show (other than the Covergirl commercials they did in Cycle 10 where they had to speak Italian 😂).
To me cover girl commercial in Italian was the funniest 😂
I didn't realize at the time how toxic that environment was for those young ladies.
Talking about facial features, someone's accent, and how big someone's breast are is so out of line and disrespectful.
I hope all the ladies have healed in some way from this nice nasty bully behavior.
The fact that 10:24 they didn't give her a shade that matches her skin tone is a prime example of how fucked up this entire enterprise is.
Dude that annoyed me so much.
That is messed up. There's no way Cover Girl doesn't have a better shade. Isn't she wearing her shade by them?
They had a tray of products for the girls to choose from. She probably just chose the wrong shade.
Good her for standing up for herself. Regardless of the judges' reactions, she spoke her mind.
This and Cycle 10 had the most iconic CoverGirl commercials.
"BRAZILIA!!!"
there's no way for her to win. if no girls raised their hands it would be "see you're the only one complaining," but they did raise their hands so they have to twist it like "see it's not just you, why are you making it all about you?"
I met Mollie Sue once and she was amazing. ❤
Jade: In real life they would edit the end of the first take together with the improv from the 2nd take.
No professional ad campaign would hire a model to sell their product and make them improv 90% of the commercial. This show was not realistic.
I love how Jade would destroy the English language. "She's so sentimental!" She means sensitive!!!!😅
How did I miss how terrible the bullying during deliberations is. How did all this get allowed to AIR? How did we all enjoy this?
This challenge was very chaotic and a set up for failure rather than a showcase of the girl’s potential and talents.
Idk... I thought Nnenna was kinda mean.
I watched this reality show when I was a little girl and had zero idea what was what until now. They fooled everyone 😢
Girl., it was not that deep. This was an entertaining reality show.
RIGHT she was playing no games!😂
Mr. Jay was an agent of chaos, and I couldn't stand him and the 'mean girl' judges.
They were always setting them up in this show. Watching it back all of these years later as an adult, you really see the audacity.
Mr. Jay is like the neutral chaotic bard in your D&D party: Incessantly messing everything up
Their deliberations are just excuses to be as mean as possible to the models for no reason
It’s really annoying when the judges insult and negatively criticize all of the girls (in every season) natural body features and intentionally make them feel insecure. I love all of these girls’s natural beauty!
This episode made me a fan of Furonda. She nailed the cheesy toothpaste ad dialogue!
Honestly Jade did an amazing job in her first take! It was over the top, it was fabulous, it was campy somehow, just perfect!
They didn't show the part where she says her lines in the first take. It probably was fine.
The challenge : Improv.
The set : Offers improv hooks
The girls : "Yes and"ing
The show : Those were traps and you failed.
Oh I'm SO happy you did this one. What an iconic episode.
Thanks for reacting to this iconic moment! I would also recommend to react to the cockroaches catwalk challenge is also iconic from this season
Whaaattt?! Which episode is it? I’ll take a look!
@@JessicaKobeissi It’s the same episode as the fallen fairy tale photo shoot, season 6 episode 4
The commercials and ads for brands never go out into the real world. The actual ads are the timeslots on ANTM where the models do the photoshoots.
Ninja warrior plus The Saw Movies aaaand the Ring 😂😭 we love you so much Jessica
@7:00 Why did I expect to see Sundai here? Their voices sound so similar right then!
Omg she does sound JUST like her!
It's really crazy how I didn't see how they put these girls through A LOT mentally...
Ms Jay laughing at 23:45 had me laughing. But she did deliver that line like she didn't care! LOL
I wish the tables were around instead of them being the judge, they being judge, and I know, for a fact, they cannot take criticism. They will get their feelings hunts
Calling Brooke a trout, when shes so freaking gorgeous is crazy!
It's so interesting comparing the two shows
Naomi storming into the room lives rent-free in my head.
I did buy CoverGirl makeup because of this show. The clump crusher mascara is 10/10
Looking back on that portion of the episode and knowing what I know about videography and sound engineering it was really the engineers job to make sure the sound was correct so her words could be heard.
That cover girl foundation looks yucky. It looks like nail polish
Why is Danielle's accent such a problem and they want her to have "a normal accent" yet Nnenna has a slight accent, but its okay because shes from a different country, as opposed to just a different state? Both accents are great, they're hating.
That's part of the reason why I loved Jade, she would only go so far before she called them out. I hope she's doing well wherever she is!
Loved ANTM. It was a competition show. They gave raw feedback that wasn’t always easy to hear but they could only give so much direction. Their challenges and feedback were in line with the modeling industry during this time. Tyra knew what she was doing…
I love your videos, with that being said, I would *love* for Mr. Jay to react to your videos lmao
OMG that would be epic!
"everything but modeling" the comments you make are awesome
Mollie Sue is an amazing model, so stunning to look at, with exquisite features!
The way she treated her fellow judges is just....no
Edit : uhhh why was this posted here, i was posting to another comment...RUclips hello?
@@elchamo8849 We can’t really defend Jay much since he did so much manipulation (in a way), Jess couldn’t see through that anymore. She would just focus all her attention on the girls and backing them up.
Ken Mok and which every other producer really did got outta this scot free. They made Jay and the judges have to say good and bad things to the girls, they pick the “set” up photos (Tyra along) and we never get to see their faces.
Yesss over 20 min video! Love it 👏🏼👏🏼💖💖
How Tyra is not terribly embarrassed that she hosted this show is beyond me.
Tyra isn't an actress...she is a model. She's never been an actress, no matter how many movies she has been in 🤨😆
English is my second language and Danielle accent is perfectly fine, Tyra was talking BS as always
WOW- I remember watching this season and I didn’t notice how crazy unfair all of this was. My goodness.
