That being said, the last 3 years have been very hard economically for many people, and certainly Lego channels are more for entertainment than for anything else. I certainly can't buy the Lego I used to be able to buy during the 2016 to 2020 period where my collection grew the most. But I'm hoping that will soon change. 🙂🇺🇲🇺🇲
I'm 56...my 1st (non-general pieces set was #200) Buying Lego in the '70's was the most expensive thing I did, but it is so much worse now. I'm stuck at home with late-stage cancer and I've spent almost $15,000CDN on Lego over the last 2 years because I literally can't do anything else. How I wish I had all this Lego when I was a kid in the '70's!😂

@@HollyOnFilm I just saw in the instructions for strips there are 2 more steps, so I hope you did them too. In my country the only similar thing I found on Google is velcro tape from Ikea, but there are some hooks involved. I had a bad experience as a child from painting with a heavy frame barely missing me, as it fell off right on my bed.
@@HollyOnFilm Just don't spend much time under it, just in case... As a picture with heavy frame fell while I was sitting under it, it missed me, but barely, I approach with caution to everything related to hanging pictures.

A cool yet kind of difficult thing you could do with bookshelves with covered sides is cutting a square out the side to have a viewing window. That way you can fit all of Diagon Alley onto one shelf and show case the insides of a building through the glass. Then on the side of the shelf (where the whole is cut) you would have a perfect view of the alley like in the movies.
It looks great. I love the lighted display cabinet and how you placed the wall art. Still a little early to see a full overview, but so far it is starting to look very promising. Also, kudos for doing all of those odd jobs yourself like fixing the desk, lights and furniture, I certainly expected you to be good at styling your room, but not all the basic technical work as well. Looking forward to the next update!
that was you at brick fan expo in tampa! i was thinking no way she’d come so far just for a lego event. i’m sorry to say i’ve only seen maybe two or three videos, the main one i remember being the collector’s Hogwarts Express. hope you enjoyed it. it was a decent time for my first time attending a lego expo like that.

I'm surprised that you somehow noticed what exactly Holly was wearing in the video, pretty perceptive! I did notice she put on a sweater at some point and remember thinking: Maybe it was cold .. but then I realized this is Florida and it is probably never cold. But yea, when I'm not trying to look around Holly to peek at the lego, I just look her in the eyes as you are supposed to when someone is taking to you.
Can you tell me what type of LED lightings you are using for the doors? Are all the LED lights connect to one central box that you can use one controller to turn them on / off at the same time? If possible, can you provide the link where you bought it? Thank you.
These are the strips (affiliate link): amzn.to/3XsICbm One is on each door and the little box they plug into I attached to the back corner at the top, and then the cable threads through a hole I drilled in the back to plug into an extension lead that I threaded up the back behind the shelf and up the top. If I need to access the plugs, I can climb up on a ladder and reset the switch or unplug them. Then my phone is the controller as they’re connected through the Philips hue system. I already had other Philips hue bulbs, but if you don’t have the system, you also need the hub which connects to your wifi and is how your able to control them (affiliate link): amzn.to/3Mp7fPw

Excellent lego room. Far surpasses my own. Only critique is hanging pictures should not be against the wall where the door opens. Even if you are careful and don’t hit them with the door it crowds it too much
I was never a fan of the billy bookcases because they looked so boring and basic. But it's amazing to see how much a door and a couple of light strips can make a difference. They look beautiful!
All of the attention needs to go to what's inside of it, not to the bookcase itself. I have an old style China Cabinet in my living room that displays my Transformer collection, but it simply doesn't work as well, they are not just hidden inside, the cabinet itself is also quite beautiful, which distracts from the thing on display.

Your lighting here looks amazing. I'm not flirting but you really pop out and look so natural and stunning. Also your display shevles look great. They're very tasteful with the amount on them.
Agreed, I think Holly always looks really natural. She has that striking Aussie look that fits with her quick, easy to follow australian english. If we're dealing out compliments, I also think she does really well at telling a story in her videos. They are well structured, which is not always the case for most Lego youtubers. That said, this video is probably not the best example of that, but it is something I've noticed quite often.

Sadly, they have become 20% more expensive this year, ... just a price increase and nothing to compensate for it. I have to say though, it is not that hard to find the sets at small discounts and in the US you can probably buy them for deep discounts at the right discount stores.

Currently they are 25 and still slightly over 20 discounted. I can't remember the exact numbers as I bought almost all of them at different stores where they were cheaper, except for the F40, which I bought last week, also at a non-lego store for less than MSRP. (€20.99) I think you might have bought them at a discount as well, as 15 feels like it is almost unrealistic. These are very good value sets, good looking models, fun to build and quite a reasonable amount of parts that you can also use if you like to MOC cars for yourself.

Most my Lego is on 8 big fold out table s box flattened put into big box an on shelving. And some box under my city. I only got 3 of thos pull out draw s for same Lego .😊 10 years. Werth of Lego. My extra part are in lock tight bags piled up in big tub s ..so I just pull out a bag. Of. Say black parts save spending. Mony. On pull out draw wich. Mean I can buy. More Lego .with that money. I like to be a smart. Shopper container s draw s shelving. Take up space. I think like. Less you. Got.. But. The more logo you got. But. Think smart.
