Tartan Rose- you're absolutely right that to blame his wife is to create yet another victim of his actions. But if he had never been a sexual assaulter, and only the renowned bully that he was, she still made a flawed choice in marrying him.
Ambitious women find ambitious men attractive (nothing morally wrong in that) but he can't have had such a split personality that he could completely hide his unpleasant side from her for more than 11 years.
And given his constant famous outbursts, she must have noticed how unpleasant he was. Even if he put *her* into a different category (shudder...) and treated her better than all the other women he assaulted, she can't have been blind to his notoriously thuggish business manner.
She was an intelligent, well educated woman from a wealthy background before she met him, so she wasn't going into the relationship from a vulnerable, naive position, like some penniless heroine in a Victorian melodrama with no other options.

The great thing about this whole situation. Anyone in a high position in Hollywood who "thought" about trying this, will think hard and twice after seeing Harvey's career and everything around him get utterly destroyed even as rich and successful he was.

i stumbled on a posting at a message board from over 10 years ago (long before this scandal) and someone anonymously posted saying Chapman married him so that he could help get her Marchesa clothing line launched. Obviously, whoever posted that had some "insider" knowledge, so that gives it a lot more credibility since it was before all this sex scandal broke. How could anyone be so stupid to think she married this guy for anything but money, power and connections? Also, in the current testimony of 2020 witnesses against him, one of these women says that he asked her to wear one of his wife's Marchesa dresses to a party or premiere or something. Ms. Chapman used him just like all these women were used by him. All of them total users!

I worked as a sexual assault advocate for more than 5 years. My favorite saying to those people who were assaulted was "A person could lay in the middle of the street naked, it doesnt mean they are asking to be raped." When someone puts the blame on the victim, they are giving the perpetrator a pass as if it wasnt him who forced himself onto her. There are a lot of people who do this, I think they just dont realize or have never really thought about it. They always have answers as to what they would do in that situation but they truly have no idea what being in that spot feels like.
