Thanks for the update and the videos! You guys are going to be super busy with the move, but as you mentioned, this is a really unique opportunity with all of the items you're moving, I'm sure a lot of people (me included) would he thrilled to learn how to prep the plants, the system for the move, what to do, what not to do, etc. All the best in this new chapter!!

I'm so excited for you both. Congrats on your new property!!
I've done 10 house moves & 8 office moves. I declare myself an expert in moving.😂
Some tips 🏡:
Leave the kettle, few mugs/glasses, milk, tea/coffee/sugar/plenty of chilled bottled water.
Make sure the house is clean at the new place.
Don't over pack or overload boxes more than 15-20kgs (keep boxes uniformed easy to pickup/stack the truck). Label so you can put them into each designated room.
Get a stair trolley/tape dispenser gun/tape/packing material.
You'd be surprised how many trips you'll need to move a house, also depends on your truck size.
Another tip to add to the list is label boxes on all sides as well as the top. 😉

@@RobsAquaponics Label all sides (I forgot when boxes go on top of each other you can't read whats underneath 🤣Watch your back & find some yougins to help (maybe throw a BBQ 🔥/BEER for the helpers)

Moving is fun! If I was closer I would totally help, I'm weird that way. Hope everything goes swimmingly and will look forward to the bits and pieces along the way!
I enjoy moving as well but B isn't a fan. Hopefully we'll get to cut back on a lot of things we can give others to make the process easier.

Congrats on the progress to farm life! With an upgrade like that on the horizon the packing up process hopefully won't feel so monumental.
Packing has become very enjoyable now that it's less than a week until we get handed the keys. 😉

Hi Rob...discovered Aquaponics before I disxovered you. However you are able to make it make sense and my next next system will be different.((you have the heart of a teacher)
I have now been involved in agriculture, horticulture, viticulture and forestry for nearly 40 years including 2 seasons on a station south of Charters Towers in the 90s as the Station Pilot, boreman/pipeliner and gardener in the middle of a drough.
I now farm 250 acres of irrigation/hort country in the SE of SA. I have used conventional and biological/organic methods over this time.
The only advice that I could give you is to focus on water reticulation first and boundary fences a close second. I am fascinated with regenerative ag and can see have a hillside in need of some swales to slow down the water that flows into your lagoon.

Thanks Greg. We had a handover of sorts the other week with the owners & it looks like the lines from the dam & the house tanks are fairly straight forward & are in good condition.
B & I have already got a fairly good idea on where we can put in some swales & other water slowing methods to help mitigate the erosion into the dams as well as retain more in the soil for better pasture production. I'm also looking at getting a professional Regen/Permaculture earthworks guy in for a consultation ASAP if there's enough coin left over after settlement.

Son inlaw reckons it will only be 3 trips Max. I'm thinking we could have the bulk of it up there in 3-4 days if I channel my inner storeman & arrange the boxes and gear in loads before we start.

The dreaded moving, oh the joys... get yourself masking tape and a nice thick marker .. and label the crap out of everything... cos when you are looking for stuff it is never where you think you would have put it..

And unpack where the contents are going, otherwise you’ll have shit everywhere

Every box has been labled on 5 sides. I'm not a fan of digging through the stacks looking for gear. 😂
