A walk on the High Line Spur, The High Line Moynihan Connector & Manhattan West. November 2024. 00:00 The High Line Spur 01:17 The High Line Plinth: Dinosaur (Pigeon) 01:51 The High Line Moynihan Connector 03:57 Manhattan West The High Line Spur: The High Line Spur is the final section of New York City's iconic elevated park, located at the westernmost edge of 30th Street and 10th Avenue. Opened in 2019, it was designed to serve as a dynamic public space while retaining its industrial heritage. The Spur is also home to the **High Line Plinth**, a dedicated space for monumental contemporary art installations. This area provides a piazza-like setting, creating a gathering spot with views of both the High Line and Manhattan’s urban skyline. It is a place where art meets community, celebrating both nature and urban design. The High Line Plinth: The Plinth, located at the Spur, is the High Line's first site dedicated solely to rotating art commissions. Currently on display is Iván Argote's *Dinosaur* (2024-2026), a 16-foot-tall hyper-realistic sculpture of a pigeon. Cast in aluminum and hand-painted, the piece humorously elevates this often-overlooked urban bird to monumental status, challenging traditional ideas of who and what we celebrate through public art. Argote uses the pigeon’s history-as both a migrant species and an integral part of urban life-to reflect on humanity's relationship with the natural world, immigration, and urbanization. This playful yet profound piece continues the Plinth’s tradition of thought-provoking, large-scale art. The Line Moynihan Connector: Opened in 2023, the High Line Moynihan Connector links the park to Moynihan Train Hall and Manhattan West via two pedestrian bridges. This 600-foot-long extension provides a seamless pathway for pedestrians, connecting Midtown West to Hudson Yards and the rest of the High Line. Designed as an elevated linear park, the Woodland Bridge and Timber Bridge incorporate trees and greenery, blending natural beauty with modern urban design. The connector is part of a larger effort to create safe and enjoyable pedestrian routes while linking major transportation hubs with public spaces. ~ Thank you for liking, commenting, and subscribing.
