  • This is the Maverick Quantum RX Flux!
    This thing is 1/8 scale, it's priced under £300 or $300 and is 4s ready and straight out the box.
    It performs great but it does have some minor issues and things that could really do with Upgrading.
    I've had this a couple months now and it has become one of my favourite RC cars of all time but I have made a few changes to make it even better!

    Weather has been terrible in the UK which means things almost come to a stand still when it comes to filming and creating content. But its the perfect opportunity to do a video like this! The Quantum RX Flux is a great rally car but does require some upgrades as soon as you get it out the box! Do you own one? What changes/upgraded have you made? Make sure you are subscribed as the next couple months will certainly be very exciting. The New Rlaarlo speed car is on the way along with some other cool cars and banggood specials so stay tuned! See you on the next one 💯😎👍

    Dust cover, almost a must if you dont enjoy spending 15 mins cleaning the car after every run. The Arrma Big Rock 3S one fits very well.

    I've upgraded to a PowerHobby 209 servo, Graupner X8E radio, aluminum chassis braces, 19t pinion, shimed the diffs, 50k front and 30k rear diff fluid and wheels and tires. It was awesome out of the box, but definitely much better now!!!! I highly recommend the Quantum Flux RX, it's been so much fun!!!!

    Just got the blue one for my B-day last month. Lovin' it so far. So far I installed a X6FG receiver and replaced the slow servo. I like to paint on E6000 adhesive to reinforce body and used self adhesive foam washers on inside for holes. Clips are harder to get on, but none have popped off during bashing, plus body doesn't rattle. Will look into bearings next.

      Great idea. Bearings are a must if running in wet conditions. Metal ones wont last one run :/

    Great video (as always), thanks. I’ve just ordered one from Jadlam RC (great deal on eBay) Also ordered the bearing kit and Dumbo controller with gyro. Can’t wait to give it a run. Just need to find my gorilla tape too…

  • @The_RC_Dude
    @The_RC_Dude Год назад +6

    I think the servo upgrade is overpriced and overkill for most people, I think a decent brushed servo for $50 or less will work fine, like an EcoBoost servo. The bearing upgrade is right for some people, the body clip retainers are a good idea (and some will just convert to Velcro, like on race buggies). Gorilla tape works great for backing and reinforcing bodies, much less involved, less expensive, and a lot easier than the ShooGoo and drywall tape method. I use Gorilla tape on all my cars, and my HBX 16889 body shells (which take a beating) look perfect. You can also add some tape to the outside of the body where the car slides along on, to protect the paint and body further (replace that exterior tape as needed). Gyro is good too, I use the same DumboRC X6 on my brushless 144001.

      Of course which is why i mentioned this in the video. Its what i had available as i was doing a promo video for them so made sense. Same performance can probably be had for less money. Appreciate the feedback :)

    The RX Flux has been a blast, and the servo and radio are certainly the weak points. I got a Flysky gt5 and just needed a $10 receiver, the servo I got from aliexpress is the ds3225sg which is strong and really fast for $25, I use it on all my 1/10 whenever I need an upgrade. With 3s the RX Flux is controllable fun, 4s it's pretty wild and free lol.

    I really want one of these - if it has sealed bearings I’d already own one. I just don’t have the time to open one up the day I get it as I’d 100% be running it through the same conditions you did.

Its really annoying with it flapping around like an old woman's landing gear. This is stopping me from buying one as the body is garbage, BUT the paint job is excellent.

Raised the body posts and that also helped alot, thanks to a previous members post. Increasing the shock oil wt should also help scraping, my next task.

      @@Rob702Life-qq1nx Thanks buddy, That is genius! I ended up ordering a blue one 2 days ago and it will be here tomorrow morning. I'm seriously considering grabbing the green one as well. Down here in Australia, we are seeing a literal price hike of 50 -100% markup on RC in general. Things are selling very quick and because our government is shy of dealing with China, We and they for that matter are suffering big time...but there is of course a lot worse off so I should be grateful I guess. You reckon its worth me buying another before they go?? Are they pretty good?, or hang out and see whats gonna happen with this stupid war which has potential to stop all of our imports..Everyone could be greatly affected potentially when it comes to everyday items we would normal take for granted. Metal shielded bearings are going to be the same annoying bugbear that friction shocks are!! Why?!! Just why?!! For the few pence difference between metal shielded or rubber shielded, surely the manufacturer's want their products to last more than one run in wet conditions?!! 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @beyondRC
      @beyondRC  Год назад

      Not sure why they went down the metal shielded route considering its a rally car made to be used in wet/damp conditions and features water proof electronics haha! Dont make sense apart from money saving. Bearings are only a bit more expensive though so not sure what they were thinking.. Odd by Maverick/HPI

    If you need a gyro on a 4x4 or AWD off-road car then your not a good driver. Only reason a gyro should ever be needed is for stabilization in helicopters and to assist with drifting rwd 10th scale and smaller. Practice practice practice and leave the electronics assistant behind

      ever heard of TSM (Traxxas stability management), Arrma AVC (active vehicle control) some of the largest RC companies in the world are including gyros with their models. Even my Xmaxx had a gyro out the box. Its a great technology. It can be turned off. Does not mean you are a bad driver if you use it.. some people like the extra assistance..

      Bearings are cheap, servos can be cheap, radio comes down to personal preference so maybe not essential anyway. Gorilla tape isn't expensive and there's also alternative brands.
