@@takeuchi5760 I like how EVERYONE in this comment section that haven't watched Monogatari saying what they think they show is going to be are so wrong and out of place.
Sick edit. Monogatari broke my brain: it is almost unrecommendable to people who aren't familiar with or interested in media outside of the anglo mainstream, but I absolutely love it. It's almost the best pre-commodified story-telling can do, and even in trying to reconcile the parts where it flat-out feels like the show is indicting you for watching it (and bracketing them under 'WHY?'), the whole thing still resolves to having more grounded and thoughtful stories than most any other show I've seen. It isn't playing off reactions to unreal occurrences for its characterisation: everything about who they are is tethered to a relation to mundane (commonplace) shit; family, social expectations, isolation, jealousy, etc. It's so fucking good, and I should say, I have a background with both feminism and literature. Sure this show exemplifies the paradigms of women in LNs, manga and anime, along with how those archetypes are shallowly used for sexual interest, and often these cynical choices are poorly accounted for, and done almost with a passive laziness. Most of the time a character like a 'tsundere love interest' behaves like that because the writers cynically chose for her to be like that: a tool to stroke the self-insert's ego, along with the presumed masculine readership, with a dynamic that barely exists in real life circumstances. Senjougahara is what happens if you take this well-trodden dynamic and then seek to fully instantiate it with a solid background that fully accounts for a 'tsundere' personality in the real world. This approach to taking hugely prominent archetypes and then properly doing the work of connecting them to real social relations is just an excellent concept to lead from. And beyond the character concept stuff, there's so much more to say about the individual stories and how well-grounded they are. And then the 'problematic' stuff is the opposite of that passive laze with which most manga, LNs and anime will roll into throw-away titillating scenes, like they are just hitting a checkbox and the genericness is proof that they don't REALLY want to objectify their shallow female characters. Fuck no! The moments like this in Monogatari are so purposeful, brazen and off-putting that it forces you to not be able to hand-wave its laziness: you have to own it. Thus, unrecommendable without a massive disclaimer. It's like the thing was pre-decided to alienate those that aren't familiar with the terrible standards of LNs, manga and anime, and this show forces us to own those low standards. Those standards exist because they were allowed to develop that way, and we deserve to feel embarrassed by them. Can we honestly say, if we saw a composite of every passively-thirsty male self-insert protag across popular LNs, manga and anime, that they wouldn't be sexually repulsive to us in their impulses? God this has broken my brain...
Yeah you REALLY can’t recommend it to newbies or normies. To call it intense is an understandment. But it’s so insanely good, on its premise it should have been impossible to pull off but it was done masterfully.
@Ashley Nu Hey I wonder from your background what your read is on Kanbaru. On account that she is a lesbian who ends up hitting on the main (male) character a lot. I've already seen a lot of concincing arguments about what is going on here before but not yet from someone who has the feminist angle.
@@chirstinasilver7274 it’s not so much that the male protag hits on the lesbian side character as it is the lesbian side character actively teases the male protag. Kanbaru takes pleasure in making Araragi uncomfortable and does it in a playful manner. It’s actually interesting with this series because Araragi is largely uninterested in all the female side characters outside his established gf (and of course Shinobu who is more stuck with him than anything). The other girls may not share that level of interest but he largely just sees them as platonic friends and nothing else.
@@chirstinasilver7274 This is kind of difficult, but I will try not to go too long (EDIT: I failed). There is the first-pass interpretation (that is a useful place to start) that she is in the archetype of both an athletics/sports character and an erotic character intended to be sexually provocative. The text more or less states it flat-out, and with it whatever damnation the viewer feels appropriate for exploiting archetypes that have shown themselves to be commercially successful and broadly resonant. The feminist lens is largely one of contextualising the conventions of story-telling by maintaining an awareness that the those memes were largely developed around very patriarchal assumptions, if not created by circles of authors dominated by men, and for a presumed plurality straight masculine audience. So then the problem is: how does one possibly exploit the most pronounced conventions that were sharpened around this mess to create something with actual strong characters? It's a problem of pulling the 'resonant' part from the 'cynical commercial' part in making use of the most popular archetypes. I think this might be basically impossible, but I'm here for the brain-breaking contradictions that come out of it. This is kind of what I was getting at in the initial post with 'the best pre-commodified story-telling can do', because there is a strong defence for why she is depicted like it is, and it is to do with repressed sexuality, but no matter how far it might go in substantiating its characters, it can't really fully escape the 'pre-commodified' part. But good/bad news everyone: that's basically everything new with any decent budget or distribution to it. Firstly, the noteworthy aspect of how downplayed her sexuality is: she doesn't go out of her way to re-state herself, or make light of her sexuality, or pine repeatedly for no other reason but to remind us of her sexuality. But then why would she if she were meant to be properly grounded as a character? She is gay, and clearly not particularly comfortable about it. Which is incredibly ironic, because she is always making suggestive comments to Koyomi about herself. This is where it bumps into that potential to be viewed purely as exploitative, but I don't think so: the denial of the easy depictions is much better than the alternative, and I absolutely buy an active person who's repressed their sexuality being obnoxiously provocative to one of the few people she's out to. If you've ever known someone who had to conceal their sexuality, they can become uncomfortably forthright about it with the few people they are comfortable with--even in contradictory ways, since figuring out sexuality can lead you down a lot of weird avenues. Anyway, this extends to her reading/collection of BL: I've known many queer women to enjoy this genre. The removal from situations that one would be in oneself is part of the appeal, as well as the fact that such media tends to be aimed at women. Yuri often suffers from the problem of a presumed straight male audience, and so all of the pop-cultural conventions of objectifying women's bodies bear down on it, and as a result it becomes extremely difficult to depict gay women without veering into difficulties of taste and influence. The kinds of questions like 'to what extent is this playing on the conventions of simplistic voyeuristic garbage?' Men's bodies are so comparatively neglected in this paradigm that BL is able to do all kinds of things that never run this risk, precisely because the highly sexualised depictions of men are much more sequestered to this space. I can't help but feel there is a connection between the text choosing not to exploit her sexuality and the recurring piles of BL in her room. Anyway, It does seem safe to say that Monogatari deliberately chooses to not depict her expressing her 'actual' sexuality until it is absolutely related to the story. In light of those conventions I've mentioned before, and how far this show goes with embodying some of the way worse tendencies in the LN/manga/anime space, this seems extremely note-worthy, because it means there is a deliberate choice to directly avoid exploiting her being gay for easy depictions. I find this aspect to be very effective, since it guarantees the moments her sexuality comes to the surface become way more powerful. A great example would be when Numachi Rouka responds to Kanbaru admitting her sexuality, taunting that she suspected Kanbaru because of how she looked at her teammates when they were rivals. Her inner monologue reads: 'I never looked at my teammates that way.' Followed immediately by, '...At least, I hope I didn't.' If the text was having her flaunt her gayness all the time it would be weird to expect anyone to care about this, but here instead we get to feel that sudden lead of insecurity that would absolutely accompany a situation like this happening to a person, and it's so effective! Like I said in the first post, this show broke my brain: it can seem so flippant about the exploiting its characters' bodies from the Koyomi/viewer lens (often to just indefensible degrees), but also so accountable to its human characters that are unapologetically dealing with very mundane social dynamics. I think ultimately I prefer a conceptual approach that is at least trying to carry all this ambient and repressed horniness rather than to side-step it.

Monogatari is such a masterpiece that is not made for everybody. But when you watch it, you just transcend to a higher realm of consciousness. Truly a marvelous experience.
Man I've grown to hate AMV's because of all the cringey ones I watched when I was younger, but god damn this edit is so good coupled with the banger song and absolute masterpiece that is Monogatari. This does a great job actually making use of the incredible art, making this a genuinely good and more respectful tribute then just a collection of scenes with Imagine Dragons playing over it. This is fucking awesome man
Well gosh are you missing out. Because the AMV’s coming out now are amazing, one of my favorites is the Bibliomania AMV, they use ‘The Greatest Living Show’, and goddam is it good.
This day has become a holy day because I found this masterpiece AMV, I can't express how much I love monogatari, this series literally changed my view on society and the world in general, there will be never a series like monogatari that can reach the same heights of the abstract and mystery, self discovery combined with some action and tons of quality dialogue + monologue
This made me feel goosebumps, it's so epic. I love that it still kept the mysterious, vast and isolated (unique) feeling that this series emanates and still haunts me to this day. Freaking loved this and the song, this deserves a lot more views.

This is masterpiece. I'm lose of words on how good this video actually is, this is just perfection. I'm glad it got recommended to me in the algorithm. Thanks youtube!
If there's one thing on the internet that made me want to watch the monogatari series it's this video. This video is seriously underrated. Awesome content🔥
I had no idea what I was in for when I started watching this at the beginning of this month. Every moment of spare time went into binge-viewing this series, and I had always seen the 2010 run's first three episodes of Bakemonogatari back in 2011 with my ex because she was fucking obsessed with the manga, and now I get what she was raving about the whole time. Every bit of the series is just a masterpiece and having seen everything in the serialized anime releases up to Owari's second season, I can't bring myself to finish it. It's a sense of loss that I haven't felt since I seen Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood's final episode. It's been a journey to say the least.
For anyone interested in watching this series, here is my recommendation for watch order, it is slightly different than the generic one you see most of the time and I strongly believe flows much better for people to understand while maintaining the mystery and climatic buildups in the story for maximum first-time enjoyment: Bakemonogatari Nisemonogatari Kizumonogatari Nekomonogatari Kuro Monogatari Second Season Tsukimonogatari Owarimonogatari Koyomimonogatari Owarimonogatari Second Season Zoku Owarimonogatari Hanamonogatari
@@maxihyfr8048 the most trusted order is this one- 📌Season 1 (Bakemonogatari) (Kizumonogatari) (Nisemonogatari) (Nekomonogatari) 📌Season 2 (Monogatari 2nd Season) (Hanamonogatari) 📌Season 3 (Tsukimonogatari) (Koyomimonogatari) (Owarimonogatari S1) (Owarimonogatari S2) (Zoku Owarimonogatari) However, the order which the og wrote is also a good order especially if you're a starter except for I don't see why they put hana in the last
@@callmeweeb4350 That’s just the generic watch order that goes around, why would you want to spoil the climax in Owarimonogatari by watching Hanamonogatari in the middle? I say this as someone who watched it that way based off the exact same generic recommendation you added here. Hanamonogatari is at the chroniclogical end and ties up the final loose ends for Suruga while giving you a taste of what post-climax is like before it spoils you. The reason I’ve restructured it is to increase the mystery and climactic buildup specifically for first-time watchers. Also Neko should be watched after kizu as they are broth prequels and one follows right after the other.
One of the characters is a woman that can’t touch the ground, meaning, she literally can’t put her feet on the floor. There’s an explanation to why she can’t touch the ground, such explanation, however, is so abstract and absurd in nature that you can barely follow it. Whenever she shows up she is always perched on top of telephone poles, trees and such, and is always wearing dangerously tall platform heels. Sometimes the tone has a Dark Souls-esk bleakness and sadness to it, other times it is filled with an intensely chaotic and complicated humour, and then every now and then it gets very erotic. The visuals are straight out of a psychedelic trip. The recurring, extensive dialogues are like a skilfully weaved luxurious fabric. The always present fraction-of-a-second flashing screen texts that seem to flash progressively quicker and get progressively harder to read as the series goes on… Why? How come one loves them and hates them at the same time? Half of the time you don’t even comprehend what is going on. The Monogatari series is, in the best and quickest way I can describe it, a cultured japanese man's boiling hot fever dream if it had been directed by Quentin Tarantino. My waifu is Kaiki Deishū, cause sometimes it takes a real man to be best girl.
Monogatari is the masterpiece that's not for everyone. You have to LOVE story and good dialogue. If those 2 are not a priority over anything else for you, There's a high change you will not like it. The Monogatari Series is 85-90% talking and solving mysteries through dialogue, SHAFT animated it intensely good though and the way they play with camera set up and environment is a treat.
I know nothing about this show but I’m a figure collector and sometimes I would be looking through the popular page and see the girl with the pink shirt with a red collar and long purple hair and she would just have various office supplies falling out of her skirt and I would just sit there like why?? Who is she? Why do office supplies rain from her skirt? She became like an urban legend to me, now I know what she’s from, wow, what a day.

@@chirstinasilver7274 I also read that wrong so take that comment as you wish.
I think ultimately I prefer a conceptual approach that is at least trying to carry all this ambient and repressed horniness rather than to side-step it.
i've been putting off monogatari for so long. i know it has so many things i would like but i'm afraid to commit (sounds stupid i know). but this amv gave me so many goosebumps, so i'm just gonna go and watch it. thank you very much
enjoy the ride. and welcome to the cult brother. or sister, idk how korean names work.
No I relate to this very much, I’m still putting it off even though I know the character’s names. I’ll probably be starting it this week
The only thing keeping me from watching is i don't know which order to watch it innnnnnn
@@emberdragon4248 Yeah, same. I was also quite confused when I wanted to start. After learning about the different watch orders, it was a bit less confusing but still a lot to follow. If you’d like, you can follow the watch order I’m following right now.
Bakemonogatari (15 ep)
Kizumonogatari (3 movies)
Nisemonogatari (11 ep)
Nekomonogatari: Kuro (4 ep)
Monogatari Second Season (26 ep)
Hanamonogatari (5 ep)
Tsukimonogatari (4 ep)
Owarimonogatari (12 ep)
Koyomimonogatari (12 ep)
Owarimonogatari Second Season (3 ep)
Zoku Owarimonogatari (6 ep)
These are all the released anime titles not strictly in the release order but more in line with the original light novels. Hope this helps
I did the same thing for the longest time and had so much regret by the time I finally finished it, I really should have watched it much sooner. Easily in my top 5 favorite series, it is in all seriousness a true work of art
I showed this to a friend and they said it looked boring as hell and would never watch it
They then found the Nise toothbrush scene a day later and have been following religiously ever since 🫤
Truly, a monogatari moment of all time
Lmao
Following something for the fap isn't being true to anime.
now I must rewatch the whole series
Ditto.
Same
Same.

I must now watch this series for the first time les goo
Monogatari is such a masterpiece that is not made for everybody. But when you watch it, you just transcend to a higher realm of consciousness. Truly a marvelous experience.
I watched monogatari cuz my friend sent this video .
All i can say is it was fire 🔥
That head-tilt montage put a huge smile on my face.
As someone who's seen all of monogatari, this video is the perfect thing to show non-ogatari watchers.
I remember watching this edit so many times around a year ago. It's still peak
Incredible song choice, thanks for the new music.
Imagine how hard to make a monogatari amv i mean you need to get a different scene from a different season and different episode's. absolutely amazing
As someone who has watched the monogatari series, i can confirm that this is one of the best amvs I've watched
This day has become a holy day because I found this masterpiece AMV, I can't express how much I love monogatari, this series literally changed my view on society and the world in general, there will be never a series like monogatari that can reach the same heights of the abstract and mystery, self discovery combined with some action and tons of quality dialogue + monologue
okay but I'm so glad this song is finally getting the recognition it deserves
the shots that monogatari has influenced permanently something in my psyche. despite never watching it
This made me feel goosebumps, it's so epic. I love that it still kept the mysterious, vast and isolated (unique) feeling that this series emanates and still haunts me to this day. Freaking loved this and the song, this deserves a lot more views.
youtube algo did its job bringing such a master piece to my recommendations 😩 ive been watching this amv for straight 2 days and just.. the song choice plus the transitions between each clip is just CHEFS KISS MUAH great job with the editting!!! this channel definitely deserves wayyyy more views
I don't know why but this made me feel so good. Everything about it just sparks my interest. I love it so much that I'm gonna come back everytime to remind myself what passion and excitement feels like. Thank you so much for this, I'm utterly grateful and i mean this.
This AMV is criminally underrated
Enjoy the final ride. I'm holding out hope they decide to animate the extra story arcs.
For anyone interested in watching this series, here is my recommendation for watch order, it is slightly different than the generic one you see most of the time and I strongly believe flows much better for people to understand while maintaining the mystery and climatic buildups in the story for maximum first-time enjoyment:
Bakemonogatari
Nisemonogatari
Kizumonogatari
Nekomonogatari Kuro
Monogatari Second Season
Tsukimonogatari
Owarimonogatari
Koyomimonogatari
Owarimonogatari Second Season
Zoku Owarimonogatari
Hanamonogatari
Let me watch it like this then
Hanamonogatari in the last?
It should be watched after the first 2 arcs of monogatari s2 or right after completion of s2, why put it in the end?
@@maxihyfr8048 the most trusted order is this one-
📌Season 1
(Bakemonogatari)
(Kizumonogatari)
(Nisemonogatari)
(Nekomonogatari)
📌Season 2
(Monogatari 2nd Season)
(Hanamonogatari)
📌Season 3
(Tsukimonogatari)
(Koyomimonogatari)
(Owarimonogatari S1)
(Owarimonogatari S2)
(Zoku Owarimonogatari)
However, the order which the og wrote is also a good order especially if you're a starter except for I don't see why they put hana in the last
@@callmeweeb4350 thanks
Kizumonogatari's final action sequence is one of the greatest pieces of animation ever
True
it is a truly one of the best amv ive ever seen. Great timings and awesome edit. Will watch it for 20 times more at least
Senjougahara!1!1!11!1 Too bad the school supplies trait was retired in later seasons/novels
Whats this? An AMV thats NOT cringe? Man this was a great one, so well edited, good job man
Finally found this Video again, this is the reason why I started Monogatari, thanks a lot
This AMV and "Into the Labyrinth" are one of the best Monogatari AMVs (Into the Labyrinth is my personal fav) plus Kayou's - Drift King has a EPIC Monogatari edit. Thank me later~
theres one called Castle is really good its what made me want to start watching but theres so much and it needs to be seen in order that iv yet to start the AMVs exact name is Monogatari [AMV] - Castle I think youd enjoy it like I do
I was about to mention Into the Labyrinth myself. My absolute favourite!
Revisiting and WAAAA this AMV goes so HARDDDD... damn!
I love how the title implies every friend group has only one friend who hasn't seen monogatari
I can't count the many times i've watched this amv throught the years it's truly a masterpiece
Possibly THE best monogatari amv I’ve seen, kudos
yo so, in my music recap last year, this video was 1st place hahah
They moved from wholesomeness to horror real quick.
Thank you for letting me witness an absolute masterwork. I found another song I absolutely love thanks to you! So much action, viciousness and chaos… The feelings I‘ve felt throughout this were strong, and after I‘ve watched Monogatari I‘m sure there will be new ones to add and a whole new reaction. (bc I haven‘t seen it up until now)

Such a fantastic AMV, wish you made more. Haven't vibed with an AMV in a long time.
You just convinced me to watch all the monogatari series, I'll come back to tell how it was
You've got quite a lot to watch, but please do share how it goes. It's always nice to hear other people's input on a show you love, even if it ends up being negative.
@@connorr8071 how long is it?
@@roycheung6860 9 series & 3 movies, incorporating over two dozen arcs. Most arcs only last 2-4 episodes, though, with a select few being as short as a single episode or as long as 7 episodes. Honestly, it looks really intimidating from the outside, but it's not like you're starting One Piece or something. Once you start watching, the arcs just seem to fly by. At least, that was my experience.
@@roycheung6860 The watch order is intimidating, too, but I just went in release order and didn't have any problems I wouldn't have had otherwise, so I'll suggest that.

Good AMV.

Going to watch Monogatari because of you AMV . Love it ❤
I'm glad to be a part of the Monogatari Series Community, yes I said it despite the degeneracy it holds
No one seems to mention how well the song fits the anime. I'm not far but I'm almost done with season one, and this fits it so well. While the song is about teenagers risking it all for sex(watch the lyric video Its very obvious) you can also take it as people that dont understand things but want to, and how they explore that mystery, much like the anime
That's because it doesn't fit at all.
I mean, when you think about It "risking it all for sex" kinda fits for Koyomi anyway lol
BROOO THATS ACTUALLY LIT 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wow, that was crazy good.
