Bernie Sanders joins Chris Hayes to discuss Kamala Harris’ newly unveiled economic agenda. “Given the fact that she has been a candidate for only three weeks, I think she’s doing really, really well in a whole lot of ways. I think what she laid out today was a strong, progressive agenda, obviously. In the weeks and months to come, I think she’s going to add more specificity to some of these proposals and she’s going to add to it,” says Sen. Sanders.

Bernie has been talking about these issues for decades. Is mainstream media just now understanding how popular these issues are to people or were they just playing dumb because these same corporations buy ad space on their networks and they didn’t want to slow down the gravy train?

Once Bernie endorses that's evidence enough that that's dangerous for America and communism nocking the door. Patriots let's get the corrupt Washington political establishment out of the Whitehouse come this November.
Because what he is pushing is called Socialism. A system with a proven failure rate, that sets up the ushering in of Communism.

Please don’t forget about us disabled folks. We are being completely left out of this. I’m glad they’re addressing these issues and I know they’re scared of being called communists but us disabled folks are most often doomed to poverty and homelessness. The medical changes will help, but it’s looking bad for most of us still.

Profit margins on groceries are RAZOR thin - there is no price gouging. It's the Biden-Harris administration excessive spending that has caused this mess and unfortunately she doesn't want to take any accountability. Actually her plan would make matters a lot worse because she would spend even more money (which is all borrowed and causes more debt, which we have to pay interest on), which would cause even more inflation (because increasing the money supply weakens the dollar and that is what causes inflation) Restricting free market enterprises would cause stores to a) go out of business + b) have food shortages. This plan is an unmitigated disaster and another step closer to communism.

Very interesting, I have never seen Senator Sanders agree so much with any other Democrat president or vice-president. Maybe with Obama back in the day. And maybe this is not the perfect plan, but it sure sounds like there are some really good ideas and possible solutions to real problems in here.

I wrote Bernie in on the ballot in 2016. I was really upset the DNC pulled him out and put Hillary in. In my heart I believe it was Bernie's anti Corp take over of our Gov that took him out . Would have really liked to see Bernie debating trump on stage . I think we could be having a different conversation if the DNC let the leading candidate run back in 2016.

@@Andykibe254 look at history, no they don't! Also retaliatory tariffs impact our export markets, the main example i use is American soy farmers, they do not have enough of a domestic market to survive and retaliatory tariffs will stop them being competitive with other countries
@@Andykibe254things can be made here but that doesn’t mean they don’t have materials in them that come from foreign countries. So even if it’s made here, you’ll still end up paying the tariffs. Even the machines that make the products could be from foreign countries. I worked at a manufacturing plant, one of our main presses went down and the only place we could get the part for it was Germany.

I suspect that Harris Campaign has a few smart folk that KNOW that Senator Sanders' approach to so many issues resonates strongly with the active electorate that must be motivated to vote, and to bring all of their friends (Gen Z and Millennial) to vote a Blue Wave. What I can say is that Herbert Hoover had the same exact plan after the collapse under Coolidge and the Terrifier idea was so bad that it actually took the crash economy and turned it into the great depression, which is why the depression is actually credited to Hoover and not to Coolidge. Coolidge created the problem, but Hoover made it worse with tariffs.

My wife is in the lumber market and if she goes through with this lumber would go through the roof. That alone will crash the US economy.
Who cares if inflation is going down if prices are still at record highs? Inflation is simply the RATE OF PRICE INCREASES. But most of the price increases are due to predatory pricing that has resulted in record profits to most large corporations. Those prices need to come down! And, as an aside, Social Security COLA adjustments need to use the metric that applies best for retirees, not college kids and heads of households with kids.

For housing, about 40% of housing in America is owned by a few companies. Medical bills spiking is because hospitals stop serving the public and now serving investors. Food is the same thing as housing, companies only sell seeds to farmers for an outrageous price and only if they abide by their rules.

Black Rock is going to be rolling in dough if these policies are put in place.
We should also make it illegal for people to own more than one house, or for houses bigger than a certain square footage from being built so we can put more units in the same space. And since corporations and individuals won’t own anything to rent, the government will be free to build all the affordable housing it wants with no competition, and it will be really really nice because government housing is always nice.

When prices of goods and services at source drop, supply chain players do not reduce the cost and pass the reductions on to consumers. This is the crux of the issue all over the world. She talked about dealing with this, 1st time a leader has recognized this and talked about stopping it.

They said it was a problem when it first happened and Democrats tried to pass a no gas gouging bill. Gas is where it started and it spread to all the stores taking suit. Zero Republicans would sign it even though we only needed two out of 250 to choose from but we got zero.meaning that all this inflation caused from gouging is at the direct fault of Republicans in Congress as Democrats did try to do this then. As well, it would not pass again if Republicans refuse to sign unless Democrats have total control of government when they come in.

I saw a statistic the other day saying that 5% of single-family homes were owned by private equity (such as REITs) in 2022, but the percentage is forecast to balloon to a jaw-dropping 40% by 2030. That's beyond unacceptable, as it will prevent millions upon millions of people from ever owning their own home, not to mention locking in ever-increasing rental costs that will leave a huge chunk of the population homeless.
Any candidate with any shred of progressive consciousness has to come up with ways to combat this. I'm glad it's on Kamala's radar, at least.
